I'm curious: What event could sell out that big stadium?
Bruce Springsteen's show last year was a sell-out. A change to Stadthalle doesn't seem feasible at this point, as there is another event (German comedian Helge Schneider) scheduled on June 27, unless they change him to another venue as well. I too have wondered from the beginning if Paul was ever going to sell out Happel-Stadium. However, from my experience, Austrian spectators are not that keen on pre-sale, preferring instead to wait until the last minute to get their tickets. I have hardly ever, in twenty years of attending concerts in Austria, had problems in obtaining face-value tickets on the actual day of the concert, quite the opposite, I made good deals off touts who had to sell below face value. So I think there will be quite a few people who will decide on the day to attend. One of the problems, though, is that Warsaw and Vienna more or less cater to the same audience (Germany, Czech Republic), so the audience potential is being split between the two venues.
bruce was sold out because the capacity was reduced. theprevious gig he did at happel stadium wasn´t sold out...

Austrian television had a fairly lenghty item on the exhibition, featuring an exclusive interview with Sir Paul taped in Orlando, yesterday: http://tvthek.orf.at/programs/1303-Kulturmontag/episodes/6049279-Kulturmontag/6056661-Liebes-Beweise--Die-Fotos-der-Linda-McCartney (link may only work for a week or so)

No flooding in Vienna, fortunately so there's no reason to worry

No flooding? really? Passau (Germany) got the highest flood since measuring...

Hopefully! Regarding all the regulation they have done to the stream it shouldn't, then again I've never seen the Donaukanal that full as it is at the moment! It's brim-full with water and there might be more water coming. That could put damage on the Donaukanal boardwalk and the tube! That's the fear at the moment!

I'm also worried because I'm going by train and I'm taking the route via Dresden and Prague. I think that some of the tracks are currently flooded and it's possible that they have been damaged during the floods. I know, small concerns compared to what the people in the affected areas are going through right now but still.

I suppose train is the best way to get from the airport to the stadium, is it possible to buy tickets at the airport or do you have to preorder them?

You'll be able to get tickets at the airport. Please be aware that there are two types of trains running from VIE airport to the city: There is a fast train service called CAT (http://www.cityairporttrain.com)) that only takes sixteen minutes to Wien-Mitte station, but which costs 11 Euro one-way (17 return). Alternatively, there are regular train services which only cost four Euro one way (unlike the CAT fare, this includes onward journeys by tube/tram/bus) but which takes around half an hour. By the way, Sir Paul "made a lightning trip to Vienna" yesterday to attend the opening of Linda's exhibition I thought he would maybe pop in during his stay for the concert...

I am also afraid the concert is cancelled in the end... I bought the tickets and organised the trip for my mum, from Spain, as it is her dream to see him live... It will break my heart if it doesn't work out I realised that the 'not available' seats on the Austrian ticket site are not all sold, but some reserved for CrowdSurge.... Wonder why they chose such hugh venue, Krieau for example... Stadthalle is booked that night so they can't move it there. Were the tickets sent out already?

I'm sure there is nothing to worry about and this concert will go ahead. It is less than 3 weeks to the show and there has been no indication whatsoever that the show will be cancelled. I'm guessing this stadium was chosen as this is a venue where most big artists (e.g. Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen) play when they tour in Vienna. And from looking at ticket sale seating maps of this concert, it doesn't appear that the ticket sales are that poor - most blocks are doing pretty well, with only a few exceptions. I'm sure it will be fine
-
Actually I don't know, why you're all so concerned... As you can see her, most of the seats are sold by now: http://www.oeticket.com/de/tickets/paul-mccartney-wien-ernst-happel-stadion-521871/performance.html#seatmap-selection And I'm pretty sure, that the same goes for the GA?! Not sold out of course, but I guess, that in the end, there will be 30.000 out of 40.000 tickets sold. 55.000 tickets, by the way, is way to much. As, in this setting (taking the stadium crosswise, as Madonna Bruce in 2012), half of the stadium seats are NOT sold and the standing area is not that big. http://i3.ytimg.com/vi/RNDPRZg-Z1k/maxresdefault.jpg PS: Yes, I know, my English is not that good.
