Sound Check

I can't really blame him for asking us to keep a distance. He's working, after all. I guess he would be distracted by our yelling while trying to check the sound of each instrument. Besides, perhaps he would not feel comfortable at ignoring so many people just a few meters away (who paid a lot of money to be there).
All good points, there not going to be popular with the fans, but good points none the less!

I agree. This is a time when Paul is working. It isn't the concert.

You get water bottles and backpacks in the US, here we get cheaper tote bags and good t-shirts. I suppose the free merchandise is different in each country, so all in all it's still good stuff. I can't complain, as the food and drinks are good and the soundcheck is a unique experience.
Very unique but I wish we were a bit closer for it.
Me, too . . .so we could at least 2: at Paul and he'd see us
Yes, he wouldn't need to acknowledge us...although that would be cool...but 40 rows back is a bit far.
Geez, that really is far for the money you all pay for it. Heck would starting at row 10 for example really bother him that much. I think everyone is there to hear him play and not be noticed with a sign or something else. I understand he is "working" but he has sound crew who is checking on things also.

You know it when you purchase the ticket by now. It should not be a big shock to anybody who frequents these boards. Just like complaining about the veggie meal, which I heard in Lincoln.
-
Yep...I knew how far back I would be since I have done it before. But that won't keep me from wishing I'd be closer.

Not complaining because I have never gone and never will. I just thought for the expense it would be nice to give these good fans a closer view for their money. As for the veggie meal, people have different likes and dislikes. I don't think you will ever get everyone to totally agree on how good or bad food is for this event.

Understood. I think if people who are major McCartney fans were allowed to be closer they would act properly and just enjoy the music without bothering the sound check. JMO

I do think IMHO that some people might be there specifically to get noticed with a sign...

yeah...people even shove their little kids up there. It happened to me during the regular show too...different kids with signs.

OK, people on this thread would know better than me.

We know how far back we will be,but still....40 rows? From what I've seen, they pick up each guitar & make sure it's tuned up correctly. check out the lighting & make sure Pablo is getting the sound right. The way the lighting was at the Chicago SC, it looked like they couldn't even see us being out so far... I think 20 rows back would be far enough away....far enough away to not bother them,& a bit closer for us

10 more days and I'll be getting on the plane for Missoula. Can't wait.

I did the LIPA ticket in 1993. Soundcheck seats were that far back then. It was in a stadium and we were not right in front of stage either. We were off to the side. The major problem is that you called a special number at Ticketmaster to buy these. I was told the concert seat would be front row. We were at a platform by the soundboard--farther back than for the soundcheck. The veggie food now is much better than it was in 1993. Nobody forces the food down people's throats. Nobody minded spending money at the cash bar, but they were complaining that they had to go spend money on hot dogs because of the crappy veggie food.

hot dogs? blasphemy!

When do the people with sound check packages find out what time to be there? I don't have a VIP ticket, but would like to go down early for Limo Watch at Candlestick. Anyone have an idea what time sound check might be and how much before that Paul arrives? Are they fairly consistent in start times or does it vary by venue? Thanks in advance! Never done a Limo Watch before, so I'm hoping to see the non-VIP window wave. -D

I've only done 1 SC before and they let us in at 4 pm, but the SC didn't start until 5:30 pm. I've never done a limo watch.

They want the soundcheckers there early because they start the soundcheck as soon as Paul arrives. Normally he tends to show up between 5:00 pm and 5:30 pm. I'm not sure if he has arrived any earlier than 5:00 this year? so if you want to be sure to see him arrive, I would suggest getting to the venue by 4:30 pm at the very latest. You also need enough time to find the right entrance (which can be tricky especially at stadiums). Soundcheckers will get their detailed info about where/when to arrive about a week before the concert.

Timing the limo watch is tricky. Too early and you'll keep second guessing yourself and get a nasty sunburn, unless it is raining, and then you have another problem. Too late and you'll be way back and may not catch a glimpse.
