Paul at Yankee Stadium July 15, 2011!!!! - ARCHIVE

thanks...I wonder if the sound would be clearer if you listened from up on the train platform? that is, when the trains aren't running!
-
@5th-beatle: yes, new merchandise. Usual prices: $40 and up for shirts, etc. There was a stall set up outside the stadium, so you were able to purchase things before the gates opened, as well as stalls inside the stadium.

Thanks. Is the new tour programme very different from the previous one?

I had 15th row on the floor, and I had an amazing time. This was my second time seeing Paul, and I have NO complaints about the setlist at all. I could watch him play the same set list every day of the week! The audio was great, however they got waaaaay too loud on Band on the Run. A couple of guitar strings snapped during the night, and in Back in the USSR some bad chords were played...also, Paul's voice was completely shot on Maybe I'm Amazed, and I noticed his mic was turned waaay down. Over all what an amazing night, and that show topped the show in Philadelphia hands down. If I didn't have stuff going on tonight, I'd be at NYY Stadium again!!

For those who were there what time did Paul take the stage and how long was the show???
-
I can't stop watching Golden Slumbers!
-
He took the stage about 8:30. I lost track of time, as seeing Paul will make me do, but I'll guess it was just a little after 11 or so when the 2nd encore ended.

I'm actually not watching the new songs, which is amazing. I'm gonna try to save it for the show..something I never do.

The soundcheck went around 4:30 to 5:45. You could hear OK if you walked down the concourse away from the El. I had no problem making out the songs. Show started just after 8:30 and ended about 11:00. Was about 2 hours 30 min or 2 hour 45. If you are driving in tonight, be aware there was a MAJOR back up going north on the Major Deegan and on Harlem River Drive. Take the subway or Metro North to avoid that fiasco tonight, they are doing construction on the Deegan and it was a parking lot. Luckily I knew how to get around that.
-
Good advice re. the traffic! It was unbelievable! There's work going on on the George Washington Bridge and detours, forcing traffic into one lane in that area, which means it was a parking lot for miles! I can't believe there wasn't some preparation for traffic; just some cops directing traffic would have helped. The subways were packed, also, though, so whatever you route you take, have patience!

Great show plus a really great crowd. With all the crabbing about set list changes, this crowd, or at least the group around me in 115 and all around, didn't seem to mind. Everyone was into and happy with whatever he played. Probably, IMHO, the best Hey Jude's he's done or at least what I've seen him do. What amazes me he is able to sing for 2 hours and then go into Helter Skelter! I just find that mind boggling. How does he do that? Btw, The Night Before.....awesome! I have video and pics that I have to put up.

I honestly wish I knew any of you or met any of you at any show! I don't have many macca friends around my age anyway. People my age like garbage lol I feel good to know people like you on here can relate to me, I don't care how old any of to are. but I wish I had actually met some of you sometime.

Very nice! What a cool panoramic shot!
-
Wow, what IS the capacity of that place?????
-
50,000 for a ball game, so I'm assuming about the same for the concert, as a lot of the stadium seating was blocked off, so I think the seats on the field evened out the blocked off seating in the stands.

In one of the pics I was looking at the bass Brian Ray was playing while Paul was on guitar...He used to have a bass that wasn't a hofner, but had a general similarity to a hofner...I guess he ditched that one for the one he was using last night

Well I went down to the show last night from Boston and I thought it was absolutely amazing show. My last time seeing Paul was at the two Fenway shows and in my opinion this show topped them. I thought the band and Paul were so much into this show, and it showed Abe's dancing on Dance Tonight was hilarious and loved it. Paul's voice was pretty good all in all last night, i mean yeah he strugged with Maybe I'm Amazed, but I was thrilled he played the song. But to be there with that crowd and that atmosphere it was pretty cool. Highlights for me were The Night Before, literally never played live before (Elton try that sometime please), I will, Juniors Farm, I've Just Seen A Face, 1985, Ob, La, DI, Ob, LA, Da, and of course the Golden Slumbers Medley. I see how some would say 2nd half of the show is same as Fenway except for ending Medley, and Ob la...., but when u look at the setlist as a whole you see enough songs changed up for the better it works for me. I'm glad I went to the show, and if you are going tonight or to another show this tour you are in for a treat!!! Jack
