Yes, "opitimised" is not even a word, lol.
I think it's possible for two people to still care about each other, even though their marriage has failed. I think it's very magnanimous of George to continue being friends with Patti, even though he also found a soulmate in Olivia. Ringo did the same thing with Maureen, they always remained friends, and was even at her bedside when she passed away.
I think both of them (George and Ringo) had very good hearts, and always tried to look at things from a higher perspective, which is how things should be.
The breakups of their marriages could have been a result of dealing with the fame and breakup of the Beatles, and not being able to cope with that, but don't want to judge of course, because the only two people who know what went wrong in a marriage are the two people involved.... One thing I really admire about Linda is her strength, and the strength she was able to give Paul during his depression after the breakup of the Beatles... it no doubt made a huge difference to him, just her attitude of choosing to be strong, and loving him anyway unconditionally. I'm glad she was there for him!

LadyLeslie, you always have such a balanced and kind perspective about everything. What they went through with the fame and everybody wanting a piece of them, as stated in AHDN, had to be tough on a marriage. Indeed.

In spite of whatever issues The Beatles had to face, I believe they really have taught the world a lot about love and kindness and showing respect for others, and so many things.... not just through their music but through the story of their own incredible journey as a group, and as individuals. There must have been so many things they had to deal with that we just can't imagine or be able to understand, that only they and the people closest to them knew, but I'm glad that "in the end," they chose to show kindness. George & Pattie and Ringo and Maureen are good examples of that.
Paul wrote "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make." Not meaning to take away from those beautiful words, but I've often thought another way of phrasing that is "The love you give is equal to the love you live." Maybe that is saying the same thing, lol. Anyway, I think The Beatles always believed in that, even when they had difficult things they were going through.

Today watched a great movie/documentary about Eric Clapton on Showtime called “Eric Clapton: Life in 12 Bars.” Talked all about the love triangle with audio interviews of Pattie and Eric.
I didn’t realize how many bands he’d been in! The Yardbirds, Cream, Derek and the Dominos, etc.
Plus, it’s a miracle he’s still alive with all the drugs and alcohol he consumed! It took the death of his 4 year old son, Conor, for him to turn his life around.

Yes, Eric was even with Bonnie & Delany for awhile & of course sang with John's Plastic Ono Band.
I read somewhere that both Pattie & Eric had written books & had to check with eachother about certain events because neither could remember much from their time together because of drugs & alcohol.
