10 more days! Can't wait to see Paul live again and from up close! I've found a small purse to bring that meets the measurements on the sign I posted a few pages back. I just don't feel comfortable carrying a clear bag with my stuff in it. I've decided to bring my smaller Sony camera and I really hope they don't give me a hard time about it, Joe Louis seems a bit on the strict side as far as cameras go. It doesn't have a detachable lens so it should be within their guidelines.
You shouldn't have a problem with the camera. I've been more concerned with the clear bag too.I have a jacket with zippered pockets,I think that will fit everything I need ! Camera around my neck & rolled up sign, I should be ok !
I was thinking of maybe putting my camera in my jacket pocket since my purse will be so small! I'll be bringing a sign as well to use during soundcheck, not sure if I'll use it during the show since I'm so close, I don't want to anger the folks behind me.
I like to try & get his attention with the sign during soundcheck. So far he's noticed most of them & read them out loud.! But never good enough to get called up. There are so many signs at the concert,I figure he may not see mine like he would at the SC. Is this your first soundcheck ? Looking forward to seeing you there !
Yes, this is my first soundcheck!

I'm going to Detroit next week! First show since front row at Lolla. Hope to see some old and new faces! I still need a (floor) ticket. Ideally first or second row

Those of you that have done soundcheck before, there is usually time to hit the merch booths before the doors open correct?
It has varied. At some shows, they have opened a merch booth for the soundcheckers to visit prior to the start of s0undcheck, so you can be finished before Paul even arrives. But I remember at least once show where Paul was late so soundcheck ended late, past door opening time, and they whooshed us away to the VIP meal so the doors could be opened right after. Some arenas have merchandise booths outside the venue, and sometimes those are open early, so you can shop before you go inside for soundcheck.

Last year in Chicago, I bought everything I wanted outside before the soundcheck.I saw what i wanted & didn't want to chance having to get in a long line later on. I broke down & bought one of those clear bags for security. In case it's warm & I don't need my jacket ! ONE WEEK !!!!!!

The sign that worked for me at a SC in 2011 (Detroit) simply said 47 I thought it would get lots of questions of the meaning and it did! It was the # of years I had been waiting to meet Paul (1964-2011) Got me onstage (along with 4 other fans, we danced to "Lady Madonna" and then each of us got a few seconds to talk, hug, shake hands, and get kisses from him)

Received a letter regarding sound check. It said no items such as album covers, guitars, or memorabilia will be allowed in. Also there will be no autograph signings. It doesn't mention the concert itself. Since there are no in-out privileges it wouldn't be possible to go get something from the car and bring back in. It doesn't say you can't bring signs. :

Got mine today as well! One more week! I think the no album covers, guitars, etc is a standard no no for all sound checks and I think even most venues. Signs should be ok as they normally are.

Thanks for the info. I was going to bring a book but I'll leave it home. It was kinda heavy anyway. I did a Mapquest and I have my GPS. Think I'll drive there today or tomorrow to make sure I get there ok. Don't want to be late for check-in!! I have a Paul On the Run tour bag I might bring to hold my purchases or maybe not 'cause it's white and could get too dirty. Detroit, Olympia Stadium, 1976 Auburn Hills, Palace of Auburn Hills, 1990 Pontiac, Pontiac Silverdome, 1993 Chicago, United Center, 2005 Detroit, Comerica Park, 2011 Detroit, Joe Louis Arena - Next Week!!!

Don't forget The Joe has a clear bag policy. Whatever you bring in has to fit in that clear bag - like a ziploc bag-. or your pockets. If you're going to SC, you will be getting a backpack,so we can put all our purchases in that ! I wish I had thought to drive there before next week, I'm not sure how the parking is down there at that time. Let us know if you drove down there !

Thanks so much for telling me about the clear bag policy! I hadn't heard of that. How can we bring in signs for the concert? Fold them up into the plastic bag? Don't think it would fit in a zip lock bag. Are there stores that sell the clear vinyl bags? I'll let you know about the drive!

Sure !I went to a sports shop at a mall near me - Lakeside- & they sell Red Wings clear bags. Red Wings site has it too,but you probably wouldn't get in time. They want to be able to see everything we bring in,so I'm sure as long as we're holding the sign...I'm rolling mine up...it should be alright.

Great! I'm gonna shop for a bag tomorrow!

You can bring in a small purse but the size limit is 9 by 6 so won't fit much. I'll be rolling my sign as well to bring in.

Hi, can anyone explain to an Argentinian who's attending the Detroit concert what is a clear bag and how does it work? Can I bring my camera?

Hi Javilu, A lot of arenas and stadiums in the U.S. have started a clear bag policy, so backpacks, large purses and other bags are no longer permitted. All your belongings must be in a clear bag and they will search it upon entry. My friend took this picture of the new policy at Joe Louis a few weeks ago, hope this helps you a bit! Cameras are allowed in as long as they don't have a detachable lens and are on the smallish size.

It is a bag that you can see through. I don't know the size restriction for Detroit, but here are some pictures of clear bags: http://www.google.com/search?q=clear+bags+for+sporting+events&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&client=safari#q=clear+bags+for+sporting+events&hl=en&tbm=shop

Thanks for the link! I was able to order a bag on Amazon just now. With Prime shipping, it will be here Tuesday. And I believe the measurements are 12 x 12 x 6.
