I agree, love sound check . With Paul's kind of stale set list, this gives you an opportunity to hear songs he usually doesn't play in the regular set. It's a looser environment and almost like a private concert. I did one in Hamburg Germany and I was one of three people here!!

I love soundcheck! It's like getting your own personal concert! You may be 40 rows back (not sure it's actually 40), but you feel a special connection with him. Well, at least *I* do. He is much more laid back and it feels like a very special moment. Plus, there's always that slim chance of meeting him if he decides to call someone up on stage. The food is very good, at least the last two years I've gone, but then, I'm practically a vegetarian anyway, so I'm fine without any meat. I've gone once with my hubby and once without and had a great time at each one. It's fun to meet other Paul fans and I've made some nice friends along the way. I vote you go to the VIP and enjoy yourself and your semi-private pre-concert. I won't go any other way, now that I see how fun they are.

For those of you that have done the soundcheck package before - can you briefly describe how you liked it/what it was like/ is it worth the extra money? I've sat close before so I'm not looking for that but considering buying a single ticket so I can do the soundcheck (if there is a 2nd show added for Chi Town). Opinions, please

For SC, you sit back by the sound board, because that is where the sound is the best. Don't forget that Paul and the band are really "working" and testing the equipment and sound. That is NOT where you sit for the concert. Hot Sound Pkg is usually rows 3-5. You also get a meal and keepsakes. Paul banters with the SC group a lot, and sometimes (but not always) fans are chosen to go onstage, usually during "Lady Madonna" to have a VERY SHORT meet with Paul. We are encouraged to sing, dance, yell, scream, and just have a fabulous time. Don't try to take in cameras with a professional lens, and DON'T try to take video with your cellphone-I have seen people escorted out of SC for doing that. If you have the chance-do SC but WARNING...IT IS HIGHLY ADDICTIVE!!!!

Does that mean row 1?? Congrats Oobu!!
Not row 1...Sect 3 Row 3. How many seats across are in each section?
Not sure because at Paul's shows, they will fill in the aisles between each section for the first 5 or 6 rows, so some extra seats will be added.
They did that last year in Memphis.

Thanks all for your input on the soundcheck - think I will pay the $$ to get myself a single seat if there is a 2nd concert added for Chicago. My youngest (13) has decided to be my date for the first one - she has Down Syndrome, but is a BIG rocker and loves the Beatles, Stones, The Who etc. She can't do simple math but knows all the lyrics to Paul's songs! She will be a great date )

an after-thought - you all seem to know each other but I only pop in when there is an upcoming concert near me. I wanted to share my story so I don't seem like a troll - I SO much appreciate all of the information you all post. I was born in '67 so I wasn't around for Beatlemania, but I was a RABID fan, pretty much since I was born until December, 1980. When John was shot, I felt like a family member was killed. I could not listen to any Beatle's music (together or solo) again after that, because it made me cry. I had a very abusive father, so when John was killed, it felt very personal (hard to explain). After that I got into punk/alternative, the Replacements, REM, Violent Femmes, etc. But when I heard Paul was coming here (I'm in the suburbs of Chicago} in 2011, I thought, wow! that would be cool. After that I got back into my Beatle-mania (although my mean mother threw all of my albums away, including my rare bloody-baby LP) and saw him at Wrigley, St. Louis, and then Milwaukee last year. My Ringtone is a Beatles song, as is my wake-up alarm. I am blessed that my oldest is a hippie-re-incarnate and loves the music I love (I DO also love new music, Kasabian, Arctic Monkeys, Beck, and Jack White are my favorites) and we share new music together. I am so bummed she can't go to this one with me, unless I drive to Milwaukee to get her, take her to Chicago and then drive her back. She is a very talented artist and is going to a summer program in Milwaukee. Anyway - probably too much info but I feel like you all know each other and I'm a stranger. I would cut off my left arm to meet Paul. So there it is....

Hey, I'm doing the sound check this time around. Do you think I'd be allowed to bring in my own food given I have food allergies? Do they check really closely when you enter, or watch you while you eat?
-
United Cemter DOES search your bag/purse etc. but not very closely. Not sure what the rules are on food...

Welcome, Vaca! I'm usually on another forum (Jorie's) but do pop in here now and then, especially when a concert is coming up. I, too have a special needs child but she won't be coming to the concert. I'd love to meet you at soundcheck! Terry

Hey all Macca fans, just wondering if anybody else had rough going trying to secure tickets for Paul's Chicago performance at the United Center? I got on in the cue right at 10, and was only given the offer of 1 tix for ANY of the price values. Then to find out by 1015 there were no tickets (not even 1) to be had. I have been to other Paul concerts, and have NEVER had this experience during a presale before. I consider myself a devoted Paul fan, but I am walking away from this experience as feeling quite devalued, and scratching my head as to how something like this could happen. Any others with this experience?

So today was the general sale date. No luck. Tried to get 2 more tickets for the family through TicketDisaster (I mean TicketMaster). On at 10am sharp, and nothing outside of VIP was available as of 10:01. Worse than usual with the security captcha, as well. Made Crowdsurge look like a dream! I got my presale tickets on the second try with them and was done by 10:05. I gave up after TM started listing jacked-up resale ticket options in place of available tickets. Still hoping for a 2nd night in Chi-town! Lesson learned: always do the presale.
-
I was able to get 2 more tickets today through the general presale. By 1001 there was NOTHING, but I continued to try for another 30 minutes and got two tickets in section 334. I will keep my Section 112's from the presale. Ticketmaster is a freaking JOKE. As soon as I purchased my tix, it gave me the option of relisting (THROUGH THEM) and told me what my commision (to THEM) would be. It should be absolutely illegal. They reserve the best tickets for their Ebay auctions. Unbelievable.

Yeah it's a joke. It sickens me to think of all the fans losing out on tickets to people looking to make a profit. Ugh!
-
A friend of mine has offered to purchase my tix in 334. If she does not want them - I will sell them to a REAL fan here who lost out, for face value. I'm not gouging anyone. Makes me sick. They were something like $101 each plus all the stupid fees. Really wanted to do the soundcheck but my husband would divorce me if I spend $1500. I will be watching Stubhub closely as we get closer to July 9th. That's how I lucked out last year. I framed my $1500 tickets that I paid $400 for. Best concert of my life.
