NYC, NY - Robin Hood Foundation - 5/12/15 - ARCHIVE
-
Alright! Can't Buy Me Love, Another Girl, and I'll Follow The Sun....PLEASE Paul, keep this as regulars! Maybe different spots in the set, but in there at least! It would also be nice if we didn't lose songs like Hope For The Future at their expense, but for benefit things like this I think he just trims the set a little for time.

Any video of this show? I really like these small shows!

Not sure it qualifies as a small show? There were 4,000 people, there but they have the dinner in the Javits Center which is a convention hall. And they raised $101 million for Robin Hood Foundation. http://nypost.com/2015/05/13/star-studded-robin-hood-foundation-galas-raise-101m/

To me it's small if he is not using his stadium or arena stage. That is what I meant. I like the look of the smaller staging. But I have only seen the one photo, maybe the stage was bigger than I am thinking.

Ah, yes, now I see. I prefer the smaller staging, too. Not sure what was used last night, I imagine more photos or videos will surface soon?

Did Paul get a hair cut?? Photo is blurry.
I was thinking the same thing! (haircut) Looking at the Instagram pics I'd say not much of one--maybe a bit in the front.

Barely if at all.

Voice sounds a little wobbly and strained IMO
-
He played something called "Robin Hood" & then it goes into JET
-
Oh, the Robin Hood Song. This was a B&W TV series from England in 1955. Peter and Jane Asher were both in about 4 episodes, so of course, Paul knew the chorus of the theme song. It was my favorite show in when I was 10, so I am thrilled to get a video of Paul singing it!!!!!!

Yeah, no haircut! What I like about these types of smaller gigs is it shows Paul can play ANYWHERE, in ANY building, if he REALLY wants to.
-
from those Instagrams it appears that they used most of the big staging - the side screens are there. Can't tell if the platform is there, too. In San Antonio last year, they used one back screen behind the drum kit, but there were no side screens at all. No room for them in the theatre!

Did he use the platform in Asia? In April and May?

Not really that small of a gig. Over 4,000 people in a large convention center. Raised $101M for the fundraiser. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/robin-hood-donors-contribute-more-than-101-million-to-fight-poverty-paul-mccartney-rocks-sold-out-audience-300082418.html

...and sung by Dick James. Can't get a bigger Beatles connection than that! Btw...did I'll Follow The Sun have that unfunny multiple repeat ending?
-
Good God...I was censored for writing the abbreviated name for Richard! What a sad, pathetic, pc automated world this is... Ok...RICHARD James, then. :
-
You've lost me there. How did the Robin Hood singer connect to the Beatles?
-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dick_James James entered the music publishing business as his singing career tapered off. In 1958 he joined Sidney Bron Music as a song-plugger but decided to leave and open Dick James Music in 1961. In early 1963, he was contacted by Brian Epstein who was looking for a publisher for the second Beatles single, "Please Please Me". James called Philip Jones, producer of the TV show Thank Your Lucky Stars, played the record down the phone to him and secured the band's first nationwide television appearance.[3] The pair subsequently established Northern Songs Ltd., with Beatles John Lennon and Paul McCartney, to publish Lennon and McCartney's original songs.[4] (Fellow Beatles George Harrison and Ringo Starr were also signed to Northern Songs as songwriters, but did not renew their contracts in 196. James's company, Dick James Music, administered Northern Songs.
