He waits for nobody, but we all wait for him.
Since he doesn't have to perform in concert at all if he doesn't feel like it, that seems only appropriate.

It wouldn't be appropriate for him to not show up when the soundcheckers are paying so much money for the privilege to hear him.

You missed my point. Obviously he's going to show for a concert that's been scheduled. I meant since he is not in a position of having to perform at all, he can pretty much show up when he's good and ready.

No, I didn't miss your point.

Just uploaded the 'Martha My Dear' intro soundcheck:
Could you direct me to the full recording of the soundcheck ? I have a version taken from Wix's IEM and it's not the best sounding and your source sounds much better.

It's the exact same source, I simply applied some magic for my upload. (And YouTube messed it up with some skips, it was NOT like that in the raw .mp4 I uploaded.)

Does anybody have any plans to capture the TV special tomorrow ? I assume we'll get it on a bootleg DVD at some point... I know torrent sites like the Dozen won't allow content from SkyPerfecTV so there won't be any luck there
-
So was this aired or not? Cannot find anything from youtube or elsewhere

A great vocal performance, and unlike Tokyo '13 no pitch correction at all (on first hearing). That's new! Very surprised, in a very positive way.

This is the complete 118-minute concert, but I've seen a picture of an unauthorized blu-ray with a running time of 128 minutes. The extra 10 minutes seem to include footage of Paul at the Budokan before and after the concert. So here's my question: how long was the original Japanese TV broadcast?
-
Carlos...the cd (which contains a bit of the intro of the band and every song played that evening) indicates "complete soundboard recording from television broadcast". Not sure if the TV broadcast also included arrival or after concert scenes.

If any pitch-correction technology was used, it's definitely undetectable -- yet Macca sounds better-than-usual, vocally. Paul stepped up his game for the London shows and the Budokan thing. Still rough in spots, but he seemed more focused on nailing every note.
-
Is there vision of him waving the flags? That is essential.

No flag waving at this show...that's a first! (Unless it was cut out of the video).

As I posted elsewhere: I was so curious about this, that I went on a quick investigation . By comparing 'Maybe I'm Amazed' to the raw audience tape, I came to the conclusion that they did patch things here and there after all, either by combing same lines sung earlier/later during the same recording, or possibly by flying in lines from other performances from the same period. You can hear the ghosting of a different vocal at moments anyway. The other dead giveaway is a sharp, sloppy edit, in the middle of breath inhaling just before the very first vocal note of the song. At one point even the piano doesn't even align at all. Specifically, intro: different performance, not pitch corrected. When the band kicks in it aligns perfectly again. A non-smooth edit in the vocal in the middle of "you're the only woman zz-EDIT-ever gonna help me", which actually brings it back to the original performance again, since a few words before that are flown in from something different. Super similar, apart from a bit of different timing, I can't even see why they did it. It's not like they replaced a clunker with a suspiciously tuned note. And so on, and so on. It happens throughout the song, in the tiniest details as described. BUT! This doesn't mean the Budokan performance didn't have phenomenal vocals on its own. Again, in the example above it only doesn't align at a few moments, the majority is from the same gig without sweetening. All the big notes are 1 on 1, sometimes they - in my opinion - replaced a fine enough note with... a fine enough note. Like said, at points I don't even think it was that necessary to edit, but I guess it only shows how much care and ear for detail - well, apart for the sloppy edits mentioned lol - went into this broadcast, unlike at dog of products like 'Good Evening AutoTune City'. Was just curious, this doesn't devalue anything. Now back to enjoying this performance.
