he wix. i hate to be picky ..and i understand your point obout the nonsense of 'martinez' facts and figures...however it appears you are talking rubbish yourself [how does 1989 not count????]......lets look at pauls touring stats for 1989 in isolation of 1990 [which of course was bigger]. 1989!,42 gigs in 19 cities in 13 different countries. 26 September 1989 Drammen Norway Drammenshallen 28 September 1989 Gothenburg Sweden Scandinavium 29 September 1989 Stockholm Isstadion 30 September 1989 3 October 1989 Hamburg Germany Alsterdorfer Sporthalle 4 October 1989 6 October 1989 Frankfurt Festhalle 7 October 1989 9 October 1989 Paris France Palais Omnisports de Paris-Bercy 10 October 1989 11 October 1989 16 October 1989 Dortmund Germany Westfalenhalle 17 October 1989 20 October 1989 Munich Olympiahalle 21 October 1989 22 October 1989 24 October 1989 Rome Italy Palaeur 26 October 1989 Milan Palatrussardi 27 October 1989 29 October 1989 Zurich Switzerland Hallenstadion 30 October 1989 2 November 1989 Madrid Spain Palacio de los Deportes 3 November 1989 5 November 1989 Lyon France Halle Tony Garnier 7 November 1989 Rotterdam Netherlands Ahoy Rotterdam 8 November 1989 10 November 1989 11 November 1989 North America 23 November 1989 Inglewood, California United States Great Western Forum 24 November 1989 27 November 1989 28 November 1989 29 November 1989 3 December 1989 Rosemont, Illinois Rosemont Horizon 4 December 1989 5 December 1989 7 December 1989 Toronto, Ontario Canada SkyDome 9 December 1989 Montreal, Quebec Montreal Forum 11 December 1989 New York City, New York United States Madison Square Garden 12 December 1989 14 December 1989 15 December 1989 : : : :

In the 60s, the Beatles never played Latin America. In the 70s, McCartney never played Latin America. In the 80s McCartney never played Latin America. In the 90s, McCartney played Latin America for the first time. Fact is. Paul is just playing catch up in Spanish speaking countries. And I include Mexico in Latin America.
Mr. Martinez is absolutely right, Wix. No one whined and b****ed in South America when in 2005 Paul toured the US AGAIN after 2002. Paul skipped South America from 1993-2010. And if he actually does perform in Belho Horizonte (still a green rumor in my opinion) he'd be doing a gig in a city where he never ever performed before.

The point that Wix was mentioning originally which is getting lost here is that Australia and Denmark deserve Paul before any place that Paul has toured recently.

Fair enough. But that was not MY point. My point is that Latin America, in the history of McCartney's performing career, has not been given the attention some here are claiming.

Realistically, at least as far as rumors go, is Paul will be playing in South America sooner than anywhere else.
Hope that's not the most realistic rumor. May I ask why he will go to South America before anywhere else?
That is a question that should be addressed to Paul McCartney. I am merely reflecting on rumors that have been posted in this thread.

of course he is playing catch up - Latin America is one of the last big cash buckets for Paul to squeeze dry and play his Beatles tribute show.

Looking at recent history, though, that's not quite accurate in terms of Latin America. You're not going to find many people agreeing with you given the amount of shows Paul has done in Australia and Denmark compared to Latin America, especially because Paul cancelled shows in those two areas. Also, since you answered WixRocks! post with how Latin America as historically been ignored by Paul, I'm trying to get us back to the original point which had nothing to do with Latin America.

Exactly. Nobody ever mentions his lack of playing Scotland. 2 Gigs here since Wings last performed in 1979, and he lives just down the road.

Isn't Scotland part of the UK? And Paul peformed quite a bit in the UK lately.

Well, what I am reading here is a lot of emotion. McCartney does not select tour dates based on criteria mentioned here. He has business managers, tour companies, and promoters to consider. McCartney has ALWAYS been up front about his desire to get paid for performing, never mind he is a billionaire. Yeah, I wish Paul would do a stripped down tour of obscure songs and play smaller venues and get paid $300,000 a night, like most successful music artists. But Paul hasn't asked me. Or any of you. When McCartney played in New Mexico in 1993, he grossed about $1,000,000. Starting in 2002, I think his fee went up to about $2,000,000. He has not played New Mexico since. I don't think he hates New Mexico. I just think his management team does not think New Mexico is a good financial bet for a McCartney show, which needs to gross $2,000,000 to break even. Some keep bringing up Denmark and Australia, like McCartney owes those places some personal favor. Guess what? He doesn't. McCartney canceled a show in Syracuse, NY in 1993. He has yet to play a rescheduled show there. The good news for Australia and Denmark is McCartney (or his management) has said he would return to those places. But it was never said he would play those places first before anywhere else. I live in a city where I have to travel about 450 miles to get to any big city where McCartney might play. I have no sympathy for Scotland, which is probably and hour or two away from McCartney concerts when he plays Liverpool or Birmingham.

Scotland, England, Wales & N.Ireland make up the UK, the four of them are separate countries.

So are Argentina and Brazil, and we Argentineans travel to Brazil to see Paul. And it's a longer trip than Glasgow to London. By the way, I love Scotland (been to Stirling, Edinburgh and Glasgow)

Well count yourself lucky that you can afford to travel all that way to see him. Playing London and Liverpool over the last few years is hardly performing to the UK.

The tickets are expensive enough without travelling all over the place to see him, the last time I seen Macca was in 2010 - the show hasn't changed much since then so i'm not really missing anything. Glad you enjoyed you're time in Scotland, will you be back in the future?
-
Hey, come back to Wales Paul boyo!
-
I do agree, Denmark and Australia need to be sorted out.
-
Lazy- I didn't say they didn't count at all, I said for the sake of my argument, I was lumping them with the dates from 1990 as a "90's" tour...since there are literally no other tour dates in the 80's, and it seemed silly to view that as a figure of it's own. The setlist was practically the same, the band was the same, the style was the same etc... RMartinez- He DOES owe Australia and Denmark. I've nevre had a McCartney concert cancelled on me, and I don't know how I 'd live with it if he never rescheduled.
