hey bringing in 'denny' and 'ringo' would at least mean we had genuine peer musicians with paul again not just highly paid ,highly skilled but ultimately boring session musician/side men.....peraps its not such a bad idea

Ultimately Boring? Really? I think this band is beyond lively and entertaining. Especially Abe! Ringo really isn't exciting to watch when he's drumming, and Abe is easily a better drummer. Here's Wings performing Jet
Denny Laine looks like a zombie swaying in the wind "jet." Here's the new band's Jet Brian actually moves with the music, runs around the stage "JET!" -
I see LD's point. I wouldn't use the word boring, but 'tired'.

To be fair, I do think something is needed to freshen up the live act a little. I like his current band, really decent musicians and really decent fun people it seems with a great rapport, but things are a little stale. A complete rethink would fix that though in the live act and not just the set-list. As far as talent goes I think the 89-93 were much better, especially Hamish and Robbie, but this band gels a little more from the audience visual view point. I don't think Denny should rejoin Paul either though. Perhaps as a guest on a song. Lovely. I do think that maybe it is time for some fresh input, but that is no reflection on the current band. Abe is a real star and my fav Paul drummer ever.

Making things...minty fresh, would never hurt. But, these guys definitely gel great. I felt like Chris Witten and Blair Cunningham were "dime a dozen" drummers. Robbie never overly impressed me either. I LOVE when Hamish sings harmony with Paul, that's a sweet sound. Denny went to one of the shows on the Up and Coming tour...I forget where, but there's a picture of him and Paul backstage, and it looks like Paul posing with a fan...Denny probably got an autograph.

Wouldn't Denny be another older musician with a voice not what it used to be?
What about hearing some Wings songs with the harmony provided by the guy who did it on the actual record instead of the current employee?

The current band seem to be just going through the motions, but expect their paid pretty good, so who wouldnt want to do that!

PLEASE! Not Ringo! I'm sorry but he couldn't keep up with Paul. Abe would be my 1st choice!

Is Paul yes or no going to play tomorrow at the closing ceremony of you-know-what? Maybe a stupid question, but I want to know if I have to stay up late . Missed the opening thing.....
Paul is not appearing, but I read that the groups are doing a bunch of British artists' songs from the past so it is assumed that a couple will be Beatles tunes.

Every paper I've read has him rumored to be appearing in the ceremony...funny how they love to spread those rumors.

If you must read rumours The comedian Russell Brand is widely reported to be singing a Beatles song. The latest press tweets are trying to make it clear that their earlier predictions about Paul are incorrect and that he's not appearing tonight. Certainly, as members here have pointed out, his band have split up and gone their ways - back to the US and on holiday. Martin Having said that, try to stay up and enjoy the show regardless, it's widely reported to be spectacular.
-
yeah Brian's in Santa Monica ----
-
Well if it's some big massive celebrity brit bash at the end, Paul wouldn't need his band...he could just come out!

I actually wish Paul would appear and sing something like I Saw Her Standing There that he can still do reasonably well and exorcise the demons of the opening performance!!

dont agree even if you are right about him singing 'i saw her standing'. if he performs tonight [which im sure wont be] then that will be enough to bring more criticism....people are fed up with him actually being at these events never mind his dodgy singing... i think paul will not put himself up for this again..deep down im sure even he knows that enough is enough..
