?Though I'm upset that the jumbo jet carrying all my equipment for the show has gone technical and will not arrive in Santiago in time for the show tonight, I will not cancel the concert. I would hate to disappoint our great Chilean fans so we are moving the Monday show to Wednesday this week and looking forward to having a rocking time in Santiago.? - Paul McCartney
Really? McCartney tours are well oiled machines, run with almost military precision. Logistically how could a plane not arrive in time from Uruguay to Chile? What is it? Just 2 hours flight??? I wonder if the reason for the delay might be something else?
me too, because: Paul uses TWO identical stages for Arena Shows and 3 for Stadiums!! The one from Uruguay will be used in Lima, not Chile, and the ones for Chile are ARENA stages, they should arrive from the US not Uruguay, very strange.
what about the instruments? there are not two sets of guitars and drums, etc. Maybe it's that plane that broke down?
I was wondering if it was the plane with the instruments too. Paul travels with his Hofner but obviously he and the rest of the band can't hardly travel with it all.
2 sets of everything! (personal guitars and amplifiers just one, I agree), but haven't you seen the many videos with backstage footage? TWO sets of Hofner bass, TWO sets of Gibson's (the two models), etc, etc. The only thing that could be is the personal amps of the Band (Rusty's and Brian's) and the Magic Piano and Grand piano. the rest, NO problem, TWO sets (or more) of every instrument just in case (mandolin (not this Tour),ukulele, etc). That's the only thing his jet can carry, plus the lights, sound and LED screens, the rest (skeeleton) of the stage is NOT from him, every venue brings the materials, MPL Tours sent the extact requirements, measures, etc. Chile are ARENA shows, not Stadium Stage!, Uruguay was Stadium, so... as you've said, only the instruments, because for LED screens, lights, pyro, they travell with two identical sets in two identical jets or by road in the trailers.

All speculation at this point, but if this were the case, surely the Paul McCartney touring crew could arrange a different plane in the many hours after it. This is the reason why acts always travel to the next city immediately after the show.

I know that Paul travels like that in the states, but is this practiced world wide? Maybe it doesn't make economic sense to send three stages to South America.
Since 2011, he travels with TWO identical stages to Latin America, CONFIRMED!! But as we wrote before, some things are just unique that can't be identical (not talking about the Hofner, because he has 2 on stage since many years ago!! nobody has seen it? really?)

We did ;). At the sides of the stage, or on the many photo and videos series on Flickr or YouTube through the years. Though don't forget those backup instruments are needed and are with him in the city he's playing at that moment. (The only video I can find atm is the one with Brian Ray's collection, and that are quite a lot of guitars:
) The only time it was needed for the iconic Hofner bass was as far as I remember - and I don't have a clue about the 80's and 90's tours - some gig in the US in 2005. Anyone else remembering this? I always wondered if he has identical - including marks and wear - copies, or just used a similar model that night. -

And here is Keith Smith in action: -
How was his voice>? It was very rough on Maybe I'm Amazed, (usually is these days) Could it be a voice issue? The reasoning just strikes as a little odd.

Could be health issue, or voice issue. We need Chilean fans (or Javi and Carlos) reporting at the Arena, if they don't see any trucks arriving with some equipement, then it's a different issue.
-
Le'ts hope it isn't a voice/health issue because that really wouldn't bode well for the rest of the tour. He's only done one gig with 24+ left to go!
-
No offence, but that is jumping to conclusions way too quickly. Regarding his vocals on 'Maybe I'm Amazed': hardly anything new, and also no 'problem'.

Good idea ...to send Carlos & Javi on a fact finding mission!

I'm sooooo pissed off with this.... I have to change my flight, pay for 4 more nights at the hotel because I couldn't get an earlier flight.... Money, money.... Paul, you are costing me a looooooot of money!!!!!!!!!!!
-
.... Rusty posted a pic of Abe while they were on the plane, on their way to Chile- he said they got there before their gear did...
-
I have just picked up my tickets to both nights. CrowdSurge made us wait a lot for the ticket, while the local company (Punto Ticket) was much more efficient.
-
It was a nightmare.... Under the sun, hot and nobody there to tell us something....

Yes, I was there all day long and I met a few people from this board while waiting.

Paul called into a radio station yesterday to explain the situation. The interview is here: http://www.futuro.cl/2014/04/entrevista-paul-mccartney-2014/

Hello from Santiago! Last night I was trying to get my tickets while some angry Chilean fans were complaining about the change of date and the promoter not giving people their tickets (they were reprinting them with the rescheduled date) and making them wait so Brian Riddle came to the fence when a Chilean TV crew was there and we had a 5 minute chat on which he explained the situation and said they'd stay all night working at the Arena so we could have a show on the 22th. I talked to him for a while and it was all filmed. Afterwards the reporter came to me and asked what we talked about cause he didn't speak any English so I explained it all in Spanish for the cameras. Any Chileans saw me on TV by any chance?

THAT we must find!

Anyone heard anything from. Soundcheck? What time does show start?
-
Nope, haven't heard anything. The show should have started at least half an hour ago, I think.
