I cant even begin to tell you how sick I am of sefish f*cks who stand (not even defiant, but more ignorant) with their sh.tty faces exposed, just begging me to pound it.
This whole mess has proven my philosophy... "most people are idiots"
(and you cant do much about THAT)Well said Jonathan! It just frustrates me that there are so many people here in the states that are refusing to be safe because they just simply don't care about others and keep doing what they want to do. (I'm not talking about folks that have to go to work, please note!) I wanted so badly to head back to MI for Christmas to be with my dad who is having his first solo Christmas this year due to my mom's passing. But because all of these folks and our own president simply don't care, I am unable to travel to see him. I know I'm not the only one in this situation as well, but it just makes me so angry!
Paulfan11 I am so sorry to hear about your Mom’s passing. You are doing the right thing about not seeing your Dad.
I agree with you so much about the people who are not following safe practices and then getting other people sick!!! And yes, our own president who was basically doing nothing but watching Americans die, since July!!! One of my family members who is a essential worker, has been EXTREMELY careful, wiping everything down with alcohol always wearing a mask, has come down with COVID. Lives alone and is basically sleeping and coughing, and sick as anything. The last person you would think to get it. Has to have been infected by the many workers who don’t cover their noses! So angry about this. Can’t get into the monoclonal study because it would have to be today to enroll and they’re closed. Why does this happen to someone so kind and sweet?

Just getting around to telling my story now (oobu & Leslie know) but I tested positive for Covid on Tuesday the 5th (Rapid Test) They also did the regular test which I should get the results tomorrow. Started off on Dec. 28th with a cough, but it was not a dry one, then progressed to head cold. No fever or shortness of breath. By the 2nd or 3rd I lost my sense of smell so I got an appointment online for the drive-up at our nearby health department (I had gone there last May when I had a cough, but was negative) Have no idea who I got it from. The week prior to the 25th I had only been around my mom, daughter, son-in-law and their baby. Then on the 25th there were 7 adults and the baby over for Christmas-none of them are sick. At this point it's been 10 days but am waiting until the 12th to take care of my granddaughter again.
I just read that I might have immunity now from Covid for at least 3 months, but should still get the vaccine (I will!)

Good luck to you NancyR. Sending prayers out to you and your Mom. Such an insidious disease. Take it easy and rest up! Curious are you wearing an N95 mask?

I'm so sorry you got it Nancy, but glad you are on the mend! Yours started just like mine did back in March, a cough then progressed into a head cold, and so on and so on. I'm sure you are anxious to see your granddaughter again!

If the regular test proves positive then I wish you a very speedy recovery. In a way it was good that you displayed symptoms so quickly as one in three who are positive don't have any symptoms at all. At least ,if you do have the virus, you can now self-isolate and protect others.

No, never did. Just wore regular surgical mask when I went out.
Thanks everyone for your kind words. I slept good again last night (8 hours) I always cough the most and feel worse when I first get up. Oh, and I've had a cool mist humidifier going since my symptoms began. Any little thing to help!
No word yet on the regular test results.

Just read on Olivia Harrison's Instagram she is in the hospital and on the mend with Covid.

Been away from this thread for a while, but I hope Olivia Harrison is doing okay. Anyone heard any updates. And Nancy, are you better? Everything okay? I'm lucky that I've only known a couple people so far who've had it (my friends and family tend to be ultra-careful, which no doubt helps), and they've been mild cases. But the dad of one of my niece's best friends died of COVID a couple months ago. Be careful, everyone!

Thanks for asking Bruce! I feel okay, but still have residual cough and hacking up phlegm. Sense of smell might be coming back just a teeny bit. My son got a cough, head cold and mild bronchitis but tested negative. They gave him antibiotics and he only missed a day of work. His girlfriend tested negative too. Nobody else in family is sick and my doctor said don't bother for them to get tested.
I heard Olivia is out of the hospital and doing good.
Now I'm trying to get my 90 year old mom vaccinated. Everything is booked up everywhere! Got on waiting list at one place. I was told by Health Dept. I should wait 90 days to get vaccinated since I probably have 90 days immunity and I still have symptoms. A friend of mine had a bad 24 hours after her 2nd shot and had to miss a day of work, but she was fine after that.
P.S. STILL haven't gotten results back on regular Covid test! Called Health Dept. and someone was supposed to call me but never did. Even sent an email to Lab Corp who processes the samples and sends results. No word yet!

Today, January 19th, the first brazilians were vaccinated. It happened in Sao Paulo shortly after the approval of the agency (called ANVISA - National Health Surveillance Agency) linked to the Ministery of Health. This give us a lot of hope. Here is the link!

Glad you are feeling a bit better Nancy! I also hope you are able to get a vaccine for your mom. I've been trying to get my dad signed up for one, it's been really hard, but I will keep trying!

Today a coworker's aunt died of COVID. Another coworker had two relatives very sick with it in December and the first half of January. They pulled through, happily, but it was scary. Stay safe, people, we're not out of the woods yet.

They say now to double-mask using a cloth one, plus a light blue hospital type one. And DO NOT use ones that have respirator valves! They protect you, but not others!

Finally got my mom an appointment for the 1st shot of the vaccine on Feb. 10th at 2pm. Went back in to schedule myself an appointment and the same date and time was available, got to the last page and after I hit Submit it just kept buffering. Went in with a different browser a bit later and had to choose 2:15pm. That one is still buffering too! So I think I'll just leave them and tomorrow morning see if they're still buffering or not! Insane! 🤬

Very good news Nancy!! I know of someone who has residual lung issues and on oxygen. They’re going for a CAT scan. Another friend said she was extremely careful and got it anyway. I found out the monoclonal antibodies are the way to go, yet you have to get them in 10 days, so don’t delay in getting a test STAT! Recommended is to get a pulse ox finger meter to check your Oxygen levels.

^ I see my PCP on the 8th in person for my complete physical. They always check with pulse ox. I've had no coughing since Jan. 27th. Breathing fine. Just no sense of smell yet! ️
Was never able to get through to get Covid vaccine for myself, but at least I got mom scheduled. When you get the 1st shot they schedule you for the 2nd. Will try again next week to get in.P.S. Found out that if you have a positive Rapid test, they don't process the regular test (to save money)

Good info about the Rapid Test! I can’t wait to get the vaccine and be done with it!

And also, in order to get the Rapid test you either have to have symptoms to get it for free or go to another place and pay $69 for it!

My 90 year old mom got her 1st Covid shot (Pfizer) It was very well organized and we were in and out in about 50 minutes (including waiting 15 minutes afterwards) They made an appointment right there for her 2nd shot on Mar. 3rd.

We’re still waiting for the vaccines in NJ. Remember when trump said everyone could get a test? It’s still difficult and requires an appointment!
