That's a worry for you although its far more likely to be a cold or hey fever or something like that. That's good that you're getting yourself checked out so fingers crossed, it will just be a cold virus you've picked up from somewhere. Sending you many well wishes from over the pond.
Yes, hopefully it's just a cough from a cold or maybe allergies.
My sister broke her arm & she has been in a hospital & now nursing home. I hope she doesn't catch anything there.

You guys wouldn't believe the hassle and I still don't have an appointment to get tested! First called my PCP and they said just call the local health dept. Called our county health dept. and the phone just rang and rang, so called the city health center. They said to call the county, but transferred me to a "direct line." Got a real person and she said I have to call the other number! Told her nobody answered and it didn't go to voice mail! Tried several times - same result. Even called the Georgia Dept. of Health. No luck there!
The one recording said not to just show up at the health department, but how the heck do you get seen if nobody ever answers the phone?! I don't know what to do. -
By the time you finally get someone on the line your cough will be gone. They probably don't really care if you only have a cough & no other symptons.
Or you could break an arm like my sister did & she got tested before being admitted to the hospital. Don't really know if she found out the results though.

Yeah, exactly! You either recover or you get worse! I'll probably try calling a couple more times and as long as I don't get worse, will just forget it!
I guess they won't let you visit your sister. At least you can call her. So did she decide not to have surgery?

Here in the UK a few weeks ago at the height of the pandemic, people were literally holding on-line for hours until someone eventually answered their call. I'm glad I wasn't one of them.

They transferred my sister to a nursing home & they (both the hospital & the nursing home) have done nothing. Nothing on her arm at all. Just waiting to hear if they got her a brace yet.

This morning the idiot son of the Trump family (a position for which there is touch competition) said COVID-19 will "magically, all of a sudden go away" after the election.
What a moron! Well, folks, keep your fingers crossed for me. Tomorrow I'm calling my PCP because I've had this dry cough since Saturday morning. I've started taking Mucinex with an expectorant and cough suppressant, which has helped. (bought it back in March "just in case") I'll see if he wants to send me to the health department (right in the city I live) for a Covid-19 test. Don't have a fever or any other symptoms.
I've found that a tablespoon of Apple Cider Vinergar in 8 oz of fruit juice (recipe on bottle) clears that congestion or dry cough for me. You can do it up to 3x day but once or twice usually helps.
Vote Blue and those type of comments will magically go away.

Praying for your sister Oobu!
Praying for you too NancyR, that's so odd about your state? In my state our Governor is making sure we get testing even if we don't have symptoms. We are also testing for antibodies. We're doing research on the people who have it, and who they have they been in contact with. He wants us to get several tests so we get down to 1 per 100,000 before we open. Thank God
If you go to a blood bank to donate blood, I'm sure they will test you. This site says anyone can get a test in Georgia. Here's the link with some numbers and info.

Thanks, but I have all the numbers and know the location nearest me. They just aren't answering the phone. Maybe they were too overwhelmed with calls, so that's why.
We're testing for antibodies too. My PCP's office said they could schedule that.
Last time I gave blood I had a bad reaction for some reason (hands tingling/felt dizzy) even though I have a real high hemoglobin and hematocrit. So I don't want to do that again.

Well today I rang the number and it was answered straight away! Have appointment for Thursday at 1:40 pm. You just drive up and have your appointment document on your windshield (windscreen to you, Kestrel!) and they come to you. Yeay!

That doesn't sound like fun Read something while reading about successes from donating plasma for antibodies. They are experimenting on doing infusions of plasma, maybe for CV19. They've discovered that the plasma can actually heal some other medical issues and had an effect of making you younger! Have you heard of that?

Hadn't heard about any of that! Just about the plasma helping people recover from Covid-19.

It would be plasma from younger healty person. They saw a 54% improvement in old mice. So trying to read about people. It would be great if it could heal diseases like Alzheimers or Cancer.

Word of caution from a former health writer: Mice aren't people and what works in mice may or may not work in humans.

Got tested today at drive-thru at health dept. only 3 miles from where I live. Easy peasy - in and out in less than 10 minutes. Will find out results on LabCorp's website in about 3 business days.

I personally thought the written post is well suited and trouble-free for me to go after provided guideline. Overall, I really enjoyed the assistance provided by you. It's time to go together to stop corna virus pandemic...hope we will come over it.

Biologically they are very similar to humans and were the first animal after humans to have their complete genome sequenced. They have a little more than 80% similarity. Am studying nursing now and so I'm surprised at all of the things we take for granted have used mice for testing, such as the meningitis vaccine for children, tamoxifen for women with breast cancer, promyelicytic leukemia, monoclonal antibody treatment for cancer, polio vaccine, gene transfer protocals currently being tested for cystic fibrosis, penicillin vaccine as well as Crisper gene editing to allow researchers to repair genes and correct mutations. Also in todays world, there are more human trials than ever. COVID19 has also opened opportunties in patients who most likely will die, to try out different drugs in efforts for finding a cure. A group of over 300 Veterans tried out the Hydroxychloroquine and in that case 22% died trying the Hydroxychloroquine, over those 11% using the standard treatment. That ended using that recommendation. The Remdesivir however, did show about a 7% decrease in in time spent in the hospital. Thinking there may be more human volunteers in trials for plasma use, to slow aging than lets say, Crisper gene editing of the brain. It is a sensitive area for sure, but certainly human test subjects would be the best solution in medicine for humans, as you suggest. Not all testing would find human trial volunteers. Some things like 3D printing of organs from cell's are also being used. I know they are trying to use very ethical treatment of the mice and the cures are for all, especially any cancer related ones. My sister has a rare cancer and I pray for a cure for her every day.

Nancy, was the test uncomfortable or painful? How does it feel to be tested?
Hoping for a "negative" for you.
Thanks for info.

The county I live in is FINALLY doing free Covid-19 testing, but still no antibodies testing anywhere near where I live. Hoping soon so I can get one done.
