Got tested today at drive-thru at health dept. only 3 miles from where I live. Easy peasy - in and out in less than 10 minutes. Will find out results on LabCorp's website in about 3 business days.
Nancy, was the test uncomfortable or painful? How does it feel to be tested?
Hoping for a "negative" for you.
Thanks for info.
First they give you a kleenex to blow your nose. They hand you the long q-tip and tell you to stick it up your nostril and spin it around for 5 seconds (they count) Not painful or anything (probably would have been if they'd done it!)

Great news Nancy!! Yay
Hear that they're coming up with a test you can spit into a tube. Wondering why they let you swab yourself?

Yeah, about swabbing yourself. You, of course, would not go as deep as they would.

My next door neighbor, a nurse in NYC for many years, went to the local community college for free testing and said they used her mouth instead of her nose, and she made a swishing gesture. I'd rather have it that way than with the nose.

So they don't have to get that close to your face with their hands/face. She stood about 3 feet from me and of course had mask and gloves. I wore mask when I got there.

I stuck it in as deep as I could, which was not that far.

The hardest part of this is not being able to see my 98 year old mother. This is an age when she needs me. Time is precious. I should be showering her with visits, hugs, kisses, little gifts. All I can do is talk to her on the phone--which she barely conprehends now. It's just tearing me up. I feel like I'm failing her.

You're doing the best you can under the circumstances. Don't beat yourself up about it. ️

So if you did not stick the swab as far as a nurse would, why would you trust a negative on a test result?

I DID stick it in as far as a nurse could/would! I think once they met resistance like I did, they would stop.
It was oobu who made the comment that "you would not go as deep as they would."

Whoops We finally can take as many tests as we want! Our Governor says we have more testing per person, than any other state. Thankfully, we have partial opening next week! Soon we'll be getting or beach tourists from out of state, season. Yikes, need to find a cure or remedy. Looking for a safer place for the summer.

Been venturing out a little more, not for long periods of time though. Last week had to go to my medical building because I hurt my foot (in a big old boot now, sigh but nothing broken thankfully) and yesterday I went to my salon that just opened back up the other day as I knew they would be taking all of the proper precautions, and they were. Felt perfectly safe there because of the measures they put into place.

The father of one of my niece's best friends, whom I'd met a couple times, died of COVID the other day, after 3 weeks on a ventilator. This thing is scary. Be safe, everyone.

That's very sad and frightening, Bruce, was sorry to read this. Heck if I can understand why opening up again is being done -too soon in many places. I keep reading this cursed Masque of the Red Death-like scourge is flaring up and worsening in many areas (we need to wear masks, of course. I just think of the pandemic sometimes in Edgar Allen Poe-like terms). That summer heat won't slow it. And learning about horrible new symptoms that are possible. It's an abomination Trump paid no honor to the 120,000 plus Americans who have died so far from the corona, at his recent Hitler rally. He didn't mention them much less offer solace and words of comfort to unite and help us.

I didn't really expect it from a narcissistic personality like him. We need to vote him out in November!

I'm so sorry to hear that Bruce. This thing is very scary. I reallly wish everybody would start to wear the darn masks when out instead of making up every excuse in the book not to do it.

I went to get my haircut today and due to a mix-up, my hairdresser wasn't going to be there for an hour, so I spent most of the time in my car, reading my Beatlefan magazine as it rained. By the time she got there, there was only one other woman waiting, no mask. Also saw going in and out 1 man and a woman with 2 kids about 9 and 10. No masks. I wore a mask as did the other 2 hairdressers. There's going to be so many more people getting this and so many more deaths. We need a vaccine asap!
The Rock 'N Romance cruise, which I believe did sail in Feb. 2020, just cancelled the Feb. 2021 cruise and moved it to Feb. 2022. I bet now they'll move our (rescheduled from 2020) Mar. 2021 Flower Power cruise to Mar. 2022!
