Yeah what an awesome gift to yourself it is, too! haha I love buying myself gifts, of course. I'm going to see Jason Mraz next Friday night too which is really exciting, I got front row tickets! (I'm assuming I'm allowed to mention another artist here but if not woops sorry let me know)

LOL somehow I don't think Paul is too concerned about competition.

I know it's wishful thinking that he'll ever see this, but just in case someone might bring it to his attention....... Paul, Your coming to Vancouver is an awesome early Christmas present to us in itself and we Thank You for it.But if you REALLY want to make it special.....Vancouver just happens to be home to the World Champion Simon Fraser University Pipe Band http://www.sfupb.com "SFU Pipe Band The Simon Fraser University Pipe Band is one of only four bands located outside of the United Kingdom that have won a Grade 1 World Pipe Band Championship. In addition, the band has placed second nine times, finishing in the top two in the world in 15 of its 28 years competing at the championship. SFUPB regularly competes in Highland Games competitions sanctioned by the British Columbia Pipers Association in the Pacific Northwest before traveling to Scotland in August for the World Pipe Band Championships. The band wears the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band tartan." Paul, I bring this to your attention just in case there was a particular song that you could use some back-up musicians on....... p.s. When you performed it in Toronto 2010,I'm sure your Auntie who was there would agree with me that it was the highlight of the concert! THANK YOU!

Oh yeah, no I do not think he'd worry about the competition ! hahaha Just that some groups prefer you to only talk about the one artist rather than mention others, for whatever reason.

Hello All! So excited! My cousin and I bought scalper tickets for Paul's concert in Seattle in 1990--they cost us $140 each, which was a TREMENDOUS amount at the time, considering we were poor students, and the face value of the ticket was about $20. We swore we couldn't tell anyone how much we paid because they wouldn't understand. It was the most phenomenal concert ever, even though we were in the rafters. We've been waiting for him to come back to the north west since, and it's been a long wait! So now, almost 23 yrs later, we splurged and bought the Hot Soundcheck package...Floor seats, A6, 4th row. And we're in the same situation as 23 years ago--so excited but we can't tell anyone how much we paid because they just wouldn't understand! Hadn't planned on getting a VIP package, but when it was on the screen in front of me, I couldn't resist. I know it's a lot of money, but it's PAUL!!! We are soooo excited!

Woo hoo! Cool story. Wow, imagine tickets for $20 to see Paul? $140 does not sound so bad now does it? I say if you can afford to pay it without financial difficulty and it's your dream, then yeah you should do it. I mean, it IS a lot of money but when it comes right down to it, it's money in your pocket, or an experience you won't forget. You got really great seats too! I mean wow, 4th row is really really great seats! I'd love to hear from all of you guys out there what happened with the VIP tickets - what you got to see, how it was, how you were so excited, etc. That would be fun. I wonder how many people fit in all of the seats that were sold. The entire stadium for a sports game can fit 60,000 but the seating behind the stage in this case is not full, so not sure how many in this case. Anyone know? I'm guessing it has to be about 40,000? Imagine the sound that will be when people cheer! That's part of the experience.

I don't know about Paul but I just listened to the tape you sent, very good. Had to check it out cause I'm a Fraser of Simon Lord Lovat too! I don't suppose there is any way to hear some live Pipe music while in Vancouver for Paul's concert?????. It was nice seeing the red tartan too.

I'm guessing that there are people that are hired to search for the bands that Paul might use at this concerts? But hey never hurts to post the message anyway!! I saw Paul do Mull of Kintyre at the Toronto concert in 2002, and it was unexpected that it would happen. I was SO amazed by the great sound. They used a local Toronto band and I bet they were so thrilled. PS My grandmother's maiden name was Fraser too!

I'd love to know who else is going to the Vancouver Soundcheck...as I understand it, after the soundcheck there is a hospitality reception for those attending, and it would be great to know a few of you before hand. And anyone who has been to a soundcheck before, it would be great to hear your experiences. I was reading some of the posts on this forum about past sound check concerts and it all sounds so exciting!

Abbeycat: Your grandmother & my grandmother too! Do you know all the dirt on the clan? If not search Fraser Clan in Wikipedia, it was a little hard for me to find but its still there. Don't miss the Battle of the Shirts, or the fact that the big guns had to come in & stop the Fraser-McDonald blood feuds. We be feisty! Bagpipes rule!

Haha I have read a little bit about the Fraser clan. Cool that we are both Fraser relations. I have family ties to two scottish clans actually - Urquhart being the other one. And yeah I love bagpipes, especially a whole band of them on stage with Paul McCartney! keeping my fingers crossed for this, it would be amazing to see. That was absolutely the highlight of the concert I saw the last time.

SusyLuvsPaul:
Vancouver is a beautiful city so I'm especially glad Paul's playing there
2: Hi SusyLuvsPaul: I've wanted to see Vancouver for a long time, the pictures look beautiful. Clean air, and the ocean, I plan to stay up there for at least a week. : : : Who knows what the weather might be like. Might have to buy a coat for this. : : : : Whats the very best tourist site to see. I tend to find this at the local art museums.
November is the rainiest month in a very rainy city, so be very prepared for RAIN and lots of it. The temperature will be hovering around 5 - 10 degrees Celsius (41-50 degrees fahrenheit) As for things to see in November without getting wet, it will be tough. Get good waterproof boots and an umbrella and you'll be fine. If you're into great food, Vancouver has a great culinary scene -- check out restaurants in Yaletown, Gastown, and Granville Island. I highly recommend places like Rodney's Oyster House (Yaletown), Meat & Bread (Gastown), and Edible Canada (Granville Island). Also check out the Public Market on Granville Island. To get your legs moving, take to some of the trails through Stanley Park. One minute you are in a bustling city, the next you are in a secluded old-growth forest. Also if you find a day that is dry, take to the Sea Wall around Stanley Park and False Creek. But honestly, even if it does rain all week, it should be tough not to have a good time when you know Macca awaits on the Sunday.

WOW, thanks for all the info. Vancouver is such a neat place, I really want to see it all. Rain doesn't usually bother me as long as my feet are dry I will take your advice & get a raincoat & rainboots, guess I'll wear them on the plane cause I'm only wanting to take a carryon.

This is a good idea, I don't want to walk in there alone either. We should meet somewhere, it will be a big crowd, how are you going to find anyone?

Actually, I think I read somewhere that the Soundchecks and reception have about 100 people.

Mad dayout: I hope your right, just 100 people but still a good size crowd.
