This must be one of the most appalling things Paul and his team have ever done, the excuse is the most pathetic i've heard in a long time, i'm angry and i'm not even going. When you hear of the money some fans have had to pay out it really is a unforgivable what has been done, this will tarnish his reputation i feel.
Particularly with the reason they gave...to make it easier for Paul and his crew? Tell that to the folks with flights, trains, hotels etc booked. Ridiculous.
I agree! I read on the main page about a family of 5 from Italy...now not enjoying the vacation very much. You know what a high you get on...esp this close! Too bad...really feel sorry.

As disappointing as this is, it is just a concert. I know some are going to take me to task, but in the big scheme of things, I really hope Paul McCartney is ok. As he gets older, we may see more of this. Sad but true. As he gets older, he may have to reconsider doing three hour shows. Regardless of what we want or think. It is a bit much to keep expecting him to play that long singing some of those songs, which would strain a much younger singer's vocal chords. Also, I never base a trip just on a concert. This HAPPENS. Concerts get canceled and postponed. Still, I wonder if he is having vocal problems like losing his voice.

This is definitely not our Paulie's best month.
Seriously. I feel bad for him. And I feel bad for the disappointed fans. But sh-t happens, and I don't see the need to jump all over Paul for someone's risky decision to buy a non-refundable ticket to see a concert in another country. Most of the disappointed fans are from the Horsens area and they'll get their tickets refunded.
It's pretty poor reasoning, an announcement 2 weeks before the show that basically says "we're gonna screw some fans so we don't make things to difficult for us" Surely they knew this when they scheduled the shows?
I just noticed a couple days ago that the 2nd show wasn't sold out...wonder if that had anything to do with it?

maybe just maybe Paul should announce his tour dates like everyone else and stop keeping his fans guessing when and where he's going to play next
Yep, he should announce 2-3 months worth of dates so that fans can plan accordingly.

Well we don't know if this is the real reason or if there are other reasons. And given that the vast majority of people at any show are from the local area, I'm guessing Paul's people felt it would be OK as they are reimbursing the ticket holders.

One thing to keep in mind, for those who want him to announce shows well in advance: if he did that, cancelling/postponing shows may happen more often. Too hard to predict too far ahead. I'm hoping he's fine, but if anyone should get a case of exhaustion, it should be Paul, with the schedules he's been keeping! And let's remember both Ringo and Elton had pneumonia recently.

He's probably fine. Don't think of pneumonia...they said nothing of illness. He prolly wants some time off.
-
Oh, no, believe me, I'm not saying Paul is sick! I just mentioned Ringo and Elton as things happen, and it might be difficult to schedule shows too far in advance because things do happen! And then we might see more cancellations. Perhaps that is even why Paul doesn't announce things too far ahead of time.

Sorry Denmark, it is sad and I do feel for you. But I don't think Paul would cancel without a very good reason. I'm feeling a little worried now..

Hard to disagree with both points

I think the real reason why is Paul have to do something really special for Olympics, is a very big screen, can not play only a few Beatles songs, and if you have to choose between this big event and one regular show in Denmark, has to choose well. I support him. This shows how profesional is he.

With respect, I think that is dribble.

Well I'm sure plenty of folks here think cancelling is unprofessional. But it happens, even though it's been really rare for Paul. I guess the last big cancellation was Australia in 2005, was it? I can't recall a more recent one. Anyway, from what I read, the music at the opening ceremony is going to be integrated into the over all show. It's not going to be like the jubilee where each artist does a few songs. It's going to be an artist doing a song that is related to the overall theme that the creator of the show, Danny Boyle, is designing. So I wouldn't be surprised to see Paul do Hey Jude, and that's it. Or maybe 1 more than that, but it won't be a long stint, according to articles I read.

Hi Denmark, We feel your pain in Australia, of course Paul promised to come back here and make up for the cancelled concerts of 2002, last time a i checked my watch that was ten years ago. At least he didn't use a national tragedy this time as an excuse, when in fact it was poor ticket sales in Australia due to the massively inflated prices. Still love him, just wish they'd be up front with the reasons, it's insulting to fans. Greg xoxo

Exactly what happened in Australia 2002

Come now. The concert tickets are refundable. The target audience was people in the Horses Denmark area who can get their money back. And that's most of the ticket holders -- local people driving there. I feel badly for those few people who bought plane tickets but, then, you are assuming a personal and financial risk any time you buy a plane ticket to see a concert. Any number of things (flight delays, cancellations, weather problems) could go wrong.
Ah yes, the empathy of a fan who has Paul pass through their country touring on an almost monthy basis. Some fans actually have to travel vast distances if they want the chance to see him, like across Europe, or as in my case literally around the world. People in Aussie are STILL probably paying off lost accomodation and flights booked from when he cancelled here. Greg.

Well actually I can't afford to get on a plane or a train to see Paul. If I could afford to do so, I would only book refundable tickets -- but then I'm cautious that way. I have had to wait for Paul to come to me. Which he has done precisely once in the past 10 years. I suppose I could have driven up to New York city to see him but the cost of the concert tickets, plus the hugely expensive costs of a hotel room in NYC would be beyond my budget.

The word of the day was 'Empathy' Greg xoxo

Why did they say there have been sold so many tickets for the first date that they announce a second date and then in the end it seems none of the shows sold well and they cancel both? Why is cancelling just one show not enough (and maybe giving people with tickets for the second show the possibility to come to the first)? Of course I can't know if money really is the reason, and I'm sorry if I'm wrong. But the strange argumentation for the cancelling leaves nothing but speculation. If he was ill, I think he would admit it. But nobody would admit it's all about the money. And that makes me SO, SO, sad!!!!!!! It makes me even more sad than the actual fact that I won't be seeing Paul.

He would have had to cancel one of the shows, as he would have here in Australia, it wouldn't be finacially viable to just do the one show. So don't believe the spin about scheduling, this is all about money. I hope when he does tour Europe that he does a show in Denmark, but that's all it will be, if he couldn't sell two this time there won't be two next time, i have my fingers crossed for you guys, Greg xoxo
