So will be McCartney 3 (or III?) What does that necessarily mean? Obviously he plays all the instruments, but what else?

Just that, really! I got tipped off to this a couple weeks ago and posted on the Hoffman board (my usual spot), but didn't state any details - just that I'd heard a new album was done. I wanted someone else to confirm it either privately or publicly before I made a potential fool of myself.
But within the space of an hour this morning I got two separate confirmations.
So I wanted to make a trip here to share the news.

If it is like "McCartney II" I will be disappointed, absolutely hated it. If it is like "McCartney", then I might possibly like it -lol. If it is something total different from those two, I will probably be very happy.

Yay!! So looking forward to new McCartney material. I thought I had seen a picture of him with Nuno and it looked like they were playing a song together, I'm then imagining there will be other musicians as well from that picture. I've always wished he would play with Chris Martin too!

Although admittedly it didn't do Band on The Run any harm sales wise, releasing a new album in December is pretty dumb. It will just get swallowed up by the record companies pushing their festive compilation 'best of' albums.
While there is no reason not to believe that a new album isn't due for release (Paul certainly had the time to put one together during the lock down period), personally I'm going to wait for an official announcement before getting too excited.

I don't accept that role!
I got a tip that seemed unbelievable to me but, after vetting it to the best of my abilities, I was convinced. I then published just PART of what I'd been told, to see if anyone could confirm it. It took a couple weeks, but yesterday two separate Hoffman-ites both managed to tell me exactly what I'd been told, and at that point it seems fair to tell all, rather than sit on it.
50 years after 1, and 40 years after 2, I believe it's time to count to 3!

No offense, but what are your sources, eric from boise, and how were you told ? Are your sources impeccable ? how is it that you found out? I tried to get on Hoffman's music forum, but for some reason was unable to access it this time, although I have, in the past. I tried several times this time. Will keep on trying.

I don't see why Yankeefan "hated" McCartney 2; although of course music taste is subjective, mainly. Not all its songs are "weird" or unusual.
