What's wrong with the ballparks? Like the arena shows, they have their ups and downs. My favorite thing about the stadium shows, are the extensive pyrotechnics for Live and Let Die!
I saw Paul at Texas Stadium in the mid-80s. Our seat was on about the 50 yard line. He looked about 2 inches high from our vantage point. As far as I was concerned, the experience wasn't nearly as special as an arena concert.
Maybe not as special or intimate may be a better word, but it's still Paul playing what we love for us A plus, is the Stadium shows tend to be a pinch cheaper.
and as an added bonus you (the fan) gets to stand out in the pouring rain or even the blazing heat.
I've had the pleasure of ncie weather at all the stadium shows I've been to, but that is one of the downsides.
Having had a chance to do both stadium and arena shows for Paul, my preference is definitely arena. The acoustics, to me, are superior, and the noise level of the fans is louder, which gets the crowd even MORE pumped up. Such a great treat to get to see Paul in a state and city I've never been in, and in an arena.

I haven't always had nice weather in stadiums. I want to be able to actually see Paul. I like the acoustics, the atmosphere, noise level, etc. because it is all contained in an arena and it isn't in a stadium. Like I said, no more ballpark shows for me. Been there done that.

Of course the dream for me, would be The Meyerhoff Symphony Hall, where I saw Ringo...backed with the full Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, playing three sets (Solo, Wings, Beatles) and an encore of Abbey Road Side 2 Medley...you may say I'm a dreamer...

But you're not the only one... I've seen 2 stadium and one arena and definitely preferred the arena. Weather was great in Miami but our seats were further back than I thought they were going to be and we couldn't see that well. Had much better seats in Cincinnati (13th row floor) but it was 90 degrees and I don't do well in the heat. Nashville was perfect, and I have the same high hopes for St. Louis.

I can't remember having a bad seat to see Paul. I was furthest away in 1964, but even then it was a much smaller hockey arena that only held 14,000.

Yankee Stadium soured me a bit on stadium shows, even though the Fenway shows were incredible. After hitting up the Montreal arena shows a little bit after Yankee, there's really no comparison. Arenas are better.

Mid-'80s? Did I miss something?
My daughter was born in 1973. She went to the concert with us and she was between 12 and 14.

I'd love to hear about it if you know something we don't but, popular belief here, is that from Wings UK Tour in 1979 to the Get Back World Tour in 1989...there were no tours.
-
The only concerts Paul performed between 1979 and 1989 were the following: 1985 Live Aid Sat Jul 13 1985 London, UK - Wembley Stadium -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1986 Prince Trust Fri Jun 20 1986 London, UK - Wembley Stadium -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1988 Song Festival Sun Feb 28 1988 San Remo, Italy -

I'll have to look into that one. That's new to me. And I call myself a fan.

Prince's Trust was done at Wembley Arena wasn't it? I don't think it was at the stadium (they are 2 different facilities).
