Paul is going to play a 45 minute set. With 3 minutes a song, he could play 15 songs!
Not going to happen. At roughly a quarter the length of his regular show, expect 8-9 songs. "Hey Jude" (7 minutes +/- will be one). Let us hope Paul doesn't take the opportunity to "workshop" a new tune. We all remember the nightmare that was "Freedom".
Out of all the new songs that night (Concert For New York City), "Freedom" was the one that went over very, very well with the crowd, by far! That performance's popularity is why the track ended up on the album. "Nightmare?" I don't think so. With that said: If I had a time-machine, I'd revise the Concert For NYC setlist: -"Rinse The Raindrops" (re-arranged for live performance) -"I'm Down" -"Your Loving Flame" -"Live & Let Die" -"Freedom"
Haha, um... 'Live And Let Die' might not have been the most appropriate song to perform at that time.
Good point.
Revised: -"Rinse The Raindrops" -"I'm Down" -"Your Loving Flame" -"The Humpty Dance" -"Freedom"

This is a worthy cause and I am glad to see Paul playing this benefit. I think he should play WE CAN WORK IT OUT, HOPE OF DELIVERANCE and LET IT BE.

I'd prefer a setlist with his solo songs featured, not a Beatles-heavy list. However, it's a fundraiser and a concert for folks who were greatly affected by a natural disaster, so songs that can make them forget their problems for an evening are the ones to go with, and let's face it, Beatles songs are the ones that are more well known and are definitely well-loved. That being said, play "Hope of Deliverance," damn you!

I think he should play the Frog Chorus. yes, We All Stand Together, what's wrong with that?. He just got to play that one live someday, lol. Maybe he plays the Mist of Central Park, it's a song about New York he has never released (probably he has not even recorded it, lol). But it's the only song he's got about New York and it's a great one. 48.00

With 45 minutes, he's going to get to play more than 5 songs. And I am going to be the first to say it... I do not think we will hear Hey Jude

You know he's "damned if he does, damned if he doesn't". John Lennon would advice Paul to play We All Stand Together, you know. "They say this is shit, so play the damn song, go play it, show you don't care at all about what they say." (probably adding some insult in between...) It would be the ultimate "I don't care about criticism" thing Paul can do. Rock and roll spirit... Like "this one is dedicated to..."
just because I think Paul is too influenced for sales and critics when deciding what to play these days... you know... "He's never done anything after the Beatles broke up" and all that... -

I knew as soon as I heard that they were organizing this that Paul would be there. Paul is always tries to help the U.S. in trying times whenever he can.
and...he has been married to 2 women from NY.
Nancy is originally from New Jersey but lived in New York until recently (still goes back and forth with him), so he is supporting NJ (and CT, which also was hit hard on the entire shoreline) too. He won't sing obscure stuff for this show, it will probably be his most famous stuff.

More than a little nepotistic, but it would be cool (and appropriate) for Paul to bring James up for a father/son duet on the latter's "New York Times".

Great song, but it is a pipe dream. This is a benefit where he will be doing his most famous songs.

I think he should open with "Venus & Mars/Rock Show" because after all he is playing Madison Square - lol. I would follow it up with songs below. 2) Help - because it fits the occasion 3) Things We Said Today 4) Lovely Rita 5) Maybe I'm Amazed 6) House Of Wax 7) Hope of Deliverance Long Tall Sally 9) One After 909 10) Helter Skelter

They probably sold them already for ludicrous prices, and will never release them to the general public

It is a bit strange there hasn't been any mention of it, since the original announcement. It's only a little over 2 weeks away! Perhaps they are busy lining up acts to play, etc. Just thought we'd hear something by now.
-
just saw this on their site: More information will be released in the coming days related to tickets and VIP ticket packages; on-sale information; partners and sponsors; as well as telecast information.

That's been on their site since the site went up... Still can't figure out why they're not putting SOME information out.
