I'll be there. You can count on it.
This is for charity...what if the tickets are $5000.00?
We might have a problem there... Chances are they will start at $125, I've been to a Robin Hood event.
Isn't the point of Robin Hood to rob from the RICH? At least it's a fundraiser for a good cause.
Hey, I'm not rich... Maybe they just like to rob
I don't know many of us boardies in the "rattle your jewelry" income bracket.

Given my limited expectations, I could live with that.
My expectations are low too. If he does the same old Beatle songs, the NY media will have a field day IMO. I think this would be a good 4-5 songs to do. Start off on a serious/somber tone for the occasion and then rock a bit. Think something like "One After 909 would be different (Lennon sang lead but McCartney did a lot of harmony also). 1) House of Wax 2) Too Much Rain 3) One After 909 4) Long Tall Sally 5) The End
Why do you think the NY media will "have a field day." The New York press has given Paul rave reviews for every concert he's played in recent years, both in 2009 and 2011. . There were no complaints about the set list in any of the New York papers (I only read those complaints here ) Second, it's a benefit. Critics aren't going to bring out their knives since artists are donating their time for a good cause. He'll get 3 or 4 songs. Maybe play something with Bruce. I hope it goes better than his summer outings. The St. Louis and Houston concerts gave me hope that he's taking positive steps about his vocal issues. We'll see.
You are right the NY press has given McCartney very nice reviews about his performance but has mentioned that his setlist stayed was not much different between NY appearances. Yes, it is for a good cause but I think if he trots out "Hey Jude" again after doing it for every special event in recent years they may say something. I am glad to hear his voice is doing well but I usually am more worried about it during events where he is doing only a couple of songs.

it took me 4 tries to do those quotes

So nobody expects a christmas song? It would be 13 days away! One more day and we can start singing the "12 days of christmas". I would like to place a bet. give me $20 on Wonderful Christmastime.
-
One interesting bet would be if Paul (and just Paul) has problems with the audio system, the mic or similar, again. I wouldn't expect anything unexpected (if this makes sense lol). If Louie (aka Beethoven) was alive he'll do Ode To Joy. I don't know what Wolfy (aka Mozart) will do.

The best tickets will be expensive, the nosebleeds may be in the range of what one pays for the best seats at a Paul gig these days....but please remember this is a benefit show. Paul has very strong ties to NY and Long Island, and NJ with both Linda's and Nancy's families. The area he has his holiday home in LI was hard hit too...so it is a no brainer for him to participate, and I'm very proud that he is participating. So for me, living in the area that was hit, the important thing is that he participates, shows his support, and maybe draws someone to donate either by buying a ticket or donating during the broadcast, not what songs he plays.

Remember, his cover of "The Christmas Song" is newly out... If he were to do a weather-related song, I'd go for "Here Comes the Sun", or maybe "Rain", although the lyrics don't fit too well. "Too Much Rain" is about as likely as "Driving Rain" (So why don't we drive in the rain? Straight to the eye of the hurricane.)

Paul is going to play a 45 minute set. With 3 minutes a song, he could play 15 songs! We may get some rarities people. And the Rolling Stones may play as well. rollingstone.com/?redirurl=/music/news/the-rolling-stones-invited-to-join-12-12-12-sandy-benefit-concert-20121120?utm_source=dailynewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter

Not going to happen. At roughly a quarter the length of his regular show, expect 8-9 songs. "Hey Jude" (7 minutes +/- will be one). Let us hope Paul doesn't take the opportunity to "workshop" a new tune. We all remember the nightmare that was "Freedom".

I'd say that Paul's set time will be closer to what he played at the Concert For New York, especially as they're planning to add more acts to the show, and it's a one-day concert.

Out of all the new songs that night (Concert For New York City), "Freedom" was the one that went over very, very well with the crowd, by far! That performance's popularity is why the track ended up on the album. "Nightmare?" I don't think so. With that said: If I had a time-machine, I'd revise the Concert For NYC setlist: -"Rinse The Raindrops" (re-arranged for live performance) -"I'm Down" -"Your Loving Flame" -"Live & Let Die" -"Freedom"

Freedom was an inspirational uplifting song that was a crowd favorite!

Haha, um... 'Live And Let Die' might not have been the most appropriate song to perform at that time.
-
Was Paul in NYC during Sandy? If so, that would mean he was there during 9/11 and performed at the benefit. And was there again during another disaster and will perform at a benefit. I know he was spotted sometime before the hurricane hit. 'Weather' he witnessed it or not I don't know.
-
I knew as soon as I heard that they were organizing this that Paul would be there. Paul is always tries to help the U.S. in trying times whenever he can.
