This is what Corinne wanted to show us: It's a flyer from 1976 with Eulogy as bottom billing!! Corinne said Van Halen weren't even signed at the time.
Thanks, Corinne [and Fiona]. Great. I wonder how Van Halen went down with the crowd that night..a sign of things to come perhaps? I'd love to have seen Eulogy.

Wow! Has it already become a relic? Thanks, Corinne and Fiona.

Thanks Fiona! I was at that show, it was a blast. Somewhere I have a cassette, which I am sure would break instantly, so if I ever find it I will have it professionally put onto a CD. Van Halen and Eulogy were around at the same time; VH was around a year or two longer. Nothing cooler than them on the same bill. Must have seen VH almost as many times as Eulogy, those were fun times! Rusty's hair was way past his shoulders; so was Myles' hair. Rusty saw David Lee Roth in March in London and called the following day, he said Dave was just as cool circa 2004 as he was back then. Eulogy and original VH were our favorites.

Thanks, very much, Corinne. An interesting snippet of history in the making!!

Thanks for sharing, Corinne! It would be wonderful to see that CD!!

Some of those old Van Halen shows are available as boots. I do have a ton of old Eulogy stuff, but that remains in the archives, sorry! Van Halen was the big local band, then Eulogy, the Quiet Riot, Motley Crue and Guns n Roses.

This one's scanned from an old Mojo magazine. It's one of my faves.
I had that magazine, but I cut all the pictures out and put them in my scrapbook.

I've liked Van Halen with David Lee Roth, better than VH with Sammy Hagar. I guess nothing beats the original band members (well...exception of Fleetwood Mac, since Lindsey and Stevie replaced a couple of series of band members). I don't know about Quiet Riot but I do know that Motley Crue have gone through singers (Vince Neil and John Carobi) and drummers (Tommy Lee and Robby Castillo- who sadly died); G n R has gone through a lot of band members- I lost track, but most of the originals of GnR are in Velvet Revolver. Like I said, nothing beats the original- which makes me glad because Paul and Ringo could never replace John and George if they ever decided to go out as the Beatles again (but then again, sometimes it works too, like FM and the Who (replacing Keith and John), Rolling Stones (replacing Brian)) PS. ...I mean Brian Jones....not Brian Ray

Corinne, is there any chance to see someday one of the Eulogy shows realised, pleeease?! ops:

No, sorry, that was a long time ago. Eulogy will not get back together. I know Rusty talks about Eulogy in his latest Q&A with Martha, the one posted on Jorie's website. As for their old tapes, etc., sorry, they stay in the archives. If you want some old stuff of Rusty's from back then, you can occasionally find The Living Daylights' EP online.

It's pity, Corinne. I'd love to hear how Eulogy sounds. Is it really possible to find The Living Daylights' records? I should try it.
-
Sorry, I don't copy Eulogy stuff, we don't make copies of it. You can find The Living Daylights online on eBay or some of the used record sites. I know there were quite a few out there a couple of months ago.
-
Thank you, Corinne. I'll search for it.

Diana, you can get Colleen by the Living Daylights from this site: http://db6.gemm.com/ddc/search.pl?&disp_ad_format_mode=0&artist=LIVING+DAYLIGHTS&title=COLLEEN There is also another EP which has the Living Daylights' versions of Electric Train and Catox Beach on it - it was very interesting to hear how those songs sounded originally!! That doesn't seem to be as readily availabe as the one from Gemm, though. It took me ages to track it down.

Fi, have you already listened to it? It should be very interesting, I have never heard Eulogy or Daylights, just Ednaswap. But if it's so good as Ednaswap's material... I should try it by all means. Thanks for the link.
-
Diana, Eulogy never released anything. Living Daylights had the EP, and one of the journalists who has covered a lot of Rusty's career is an old Eulogy fan who made me a CD of some stuff by The Andersons as well (none of those were officially recorded either). So The Living Daylights is as far back as you'll get in terms of recordings that you can find. I, too, like Ednaswap a lot, but those tunes are a combo of Rusty's writing along with others, and very different from Rusty's own material, though his guitar stamp is all over it. They were a very hip, trendy "in" group in LA during their time.
-
I'm so intrigued, Corinne. I'm trying to get the Daylights record, hope it'll work for me. As for Ednaswap, I love this band very much! It's pity they couldn't get a wide spread success.
-
The only thing I can remember about Ednaswap was that they toured with No Doubt at one point and Natalie Imbulia (sp?) covered Torn...that's it...I was too busy with school and other things
