Just got back from a 3 Week Road trip.  We went to Chattanooga, indianapolis, Chicago and finally to the Atantic City NJ area.  We had a great time with only a couple of minor hiccups along the way.   Like every trip, it's always good to get back home.  Since my wife was doing most of the driving, I had plenty of time to hear a lot of Paul's music via Youtube.

While all of these "Unreleased" songs may not be "technically" Unreleased -- they are all at the very least very Rare and hard to find.  Here are my favorites pretty much in order from 12 to 1.

      12. Love Mix - First heard on the aborted "Return to Pepperland" album, I like this one particularly the "Waiting for the Sun to Shine" section.

      11. Goodbye - (Home Demo written around 1969) - As many know, Paul wrote this one for Mary Hopkin which became a "hit" for her.  I love Paul's vocals here and Paul's acoustic guitar playing.

10.. Cage - Was slotted to be the last song on Back to the Egg and was later scrapped.  Like this one a lot.

      9. Don't Break the Promise (Solo Version) Written with Eric Stewart (10CC) and another track on the aborted "Return to Pepperland" Album.  Not fully flushed, but I love Paul's disco-like vocals.

8.. Squid - First leaked on the aborted "Return to Pepperland" album and later on Oobu Joobu Radio Series Part 3.  While only an instrumental, I love Paul's happy and joyous melody.

      7. India - On Paul's 2002"Secret Show" that I think has since been pulled from Youtube.  One of the "live" tracks on this show that I love.  While it's more of a hyptnotic, jam-like  track with repetitious lyrics, I love the overall music with Paul's complete current Band.  I especially love Paul's Bass, Rusty's Electric Guitar and Abe's drumming.  The harmonies by the complete Band were also great.

      6. Whole Life - Probably not "technically" unreleased, I love this version from Paul and Dave Stewart.  It appeared on Nelson Mandela's Foundatlion EP (one of 4 tracks).  I like it a little better than the "rough" Whole Life track I heard on the recent Flaming Pie  Remaster/Archive Package.

      5. A Love For You - Originally written during the Ram Sessions I believe and later appeared on the "In-Laws Movie Soundtrack".  This is, in my opinion, the best version.

      4. On the Wings Of a Nightingale (Paul's demo) - As we know, Paul wrote and gave this for the Everly Brothers' Comeback Album around the 1983-1984 Period.

      3. Lindiana - First heard on the aborted "Return to Peperland" album.  Love the melody and Paul's vocals.  I always thought Paul was singing "Indiana"about  the US State.  Perhaps Paul should have spelled the title "Lindi Anna" using 2 words.  Great Ballad imo.

      2. Waterspout - Extra song from the London Town Sessions that Paul chose not to include on the original album.  While the lyrics are a bit daft, how can you not love the catchiness of the tune.  Love it!

      1. Yvonne's the One - Another co-written song with Eric Stewart during the Press to Play Sesslions, I still can't believe it was left off the album.  Love Paul's overall vocal performance and the catch melody.  Also love the chorus and Paul's middle.  It is still my favorite of all Paul's Unrreleased songs.

If any of my tibits about these songs are wrong (or even slightly wrong) please let us know.  Personally, I think all of these songs belong on a future Paul McCartney Compilation Set by Decade.  They are all that good in my opinion.

I love your #7 pick, India. Always have. Right after the secret show people were thinking it could be about Linda.

I think he was referring to the entire show. But that is still there but it is segments.

These could all be hits. There are some songs that I wonder why he didn't put them on an album or collection of songs. Even his "throw always" could be another group's top hit.

It didn't take long for me to think of another "unreleased" song that I inadvertently forgot.  It's a song from the Pipes of Peace Sessions that was included as a Bonus Track in the Pipes of Peace (Collector's Edition) Reissue Album in 1993.  The song is called "Simple As That".

"Simple As That" - later appeared on a Soundtrack of various British artists to benefit "The Anti-Heroin Project".   The album is called "It's a Live-In World".  I really like the song and it's unique in that it has Paul's children singing background vocals.  While the song is technically not "unreleased" it is Rare and Hard to find.

13 Simple As That - from the Pipes of Peace Sessions

I'm not sure what counts as "unreleased" or not, but if any of these count, I love these songs too:

                    1882

                    In Liverpool

                    Is It Raining In London

                    Sweet Sweet Memories

                    Broomstick

                    Why So Blue

                    Demons Dance

                    Blue Sway

Also, Vanilla Sky is pretty well known, but since it wasn't on a Paul studio album I'll mention it too.

Toris...Thanks again for bringing up "A Love For You".  I know it's one that you love.  The basic track was done way back in early 1971 as part of the early Ram Sessions with Paul, Linda, drummer Denny Seiwell and guitarist Hugh McCracken in New York City.  It had that wild Ram-era Paul vocals.  Since the early basic track, there is a lot of history to the song with Paul coming back to it as late as one of the last Wings' recording sessions  in early 1981 with Paul, guitarist Laurence Juber and drummer Steve Holly providing more overdubs.  Paul did more overdubbing in 2003 in preparation of a new "In-Laws (the Movie) Soundtrack.  This version is generally considered the best.  Hopefully, the "In Laws" version from 2003 might be included on a future Paul Compilation,  As I have said, Paul needs a new, updated Compilation because he has so many songs not included on past Compilations. " A Love for You" is just one of many but I agree with you that it is one of the best among many releatively unknown songs that need to be heard.  All of these songs on this "unreleased" list belong on a future Compilation in my opinion.

Thanks McCall for your list of additional songs (above).

I'm not an expert on "unreleased songs" but in my mind "unreleased" means songs that have never been put out on a Paul album, subsequent follow-up album from the original, Single (A or B side) or CD Single that normally has 3 to 5 songs on it.

From your list, "In LIverpool" and "Is It Raining in London" would definitely qualify as "unreleased" from my interpretation.  I have heard "In Liverpool" on Youtube (Paul played it at one of his concerts in Liverpool in 2008 I believe).  Just my opinion, but the strictly acoustical version (guitar only) I heard was not much of a song.  The lyrics from my memory were about his years growing up in Liverpool but the music sounded like something that any novice guitarist could play.  "Is It Raining in London" is a song written mostly by Hamish Stuart who then asked Paul to contribute.  I've never heard any version of it.  The song at this point (from what I have read) is back in Hamish's hands so I don't know if he has done anything more to it.  As far as I know, neither song has been put on a CD (subsequent single or album).

As for the rest of the songs, I think they have all been included on Singles or a follow-up album.  "Sweet, sweet Memories" is one of a bunch of songs written during the Off the Ground Sessions but not put on the original OTG Album.  "Sweet, sweet Memories" was on the CD Single with the Off the Ground Single along with a couple other songs like "Style style" and a full version of Cosmically Conscious.  Other Off the Ground session songs not included on the original album but added to OTG Singles included "Long Leather Coat"(B-side to Hope of Deliverance), "I can't Imagine" "Keep Coming Back to Love" and "Down to the River".  Subsequently, Paul released an added Disc to the original Off the Ground Album called the "Complete Works" that was only released in Germany and the Nttherlands.  I wouldn't consider any of these additonal Off the Ground Session songs as technically "unreleased" but they are certainly rare and hard to find.

"1882" was an early 70's Paul song that he and Linda played on their "University" tours with the very early incarnation of Wings.  I first heard the song fully on the recent Red Rose Speedway Archive/Remaster Edition in 2018.  Target offered a 2 Disc Set that included on the 2nd Disc many rare Paul songs incuding a "live" version of "1882" in Berlin.  I liked the song but I think (just my opinion) it is more of a song for serious Paul fans (like me) only.  I played the song to my wife and she didin't like it very much.  I liked Paul's vocals and Hugh McCullough bluesy  electric guitar but I didn't include it on my future Compilation lists by Decade because I felt it was too long and lyrically Paul left it kind of incomplete.  Still a good song imo.

"Boomstick" was a B-Side to "Young Boy" although it wasn't on the original Flaming Pie album.  "Why So Blue" appeared as a Bonus Song on the subsequent Memory Almost Full 2 Disc Special CD Package.

Demons Dance is another "extra" song from the "New" album sessions that I love.  Paul added Demons Dance to the subsequent "Collector's Edition".  I especially love Paul's piano playing on this song.  "Demons Dance" and "Turned Out" are "extra" New album songs that definitely need to be included on a future Compilation Package from Paul.

"Blue Sway" is an extra "instrumental" song from McCartney 2 that was included on the 2011 McCartney 2 RemasterArchive Edlition.  This song along with the others above are not "unreleased" songs for these reasons.

Vanilla Sky has been officially released from "Music from Vanilla Sky" Album and on Paul's LIve album "Back in the US.  I like the song and certainly should be considered for a future Compilation album.

                          Thanks again McCall.

Blue Sway  This version over the album version. I believe this was filmed by the same guy who filmed Slidin’

222 Can’t believe it’s not on an album it’s so good

Whole Life   I believe this was  put together with Dave Stewart for a benefit

India  This song resonates really deeply in my soul. It’s very spiritual.

                            Why So Blue

If I Take You Home Tonite   A song Paul gave to Diana Krall during the Kisses on the Bottom sessions.

On the Wings of a Nightingale  Another Beautiful song that was given away. Glad there is a demo version by Paul.

Partial to Your Abracadabra  This was a lighthearted and fun cover of Ian Durury’s . It is a very fun side of Paul and that’s why I’ve included it.

Joy to the World - Peace on Earth - We are all ONE

Thanks so much Love2Travel and a special thanks for including the video's.   I've been listening to these songs this morning (including the 2 extra ones "In the Blink of an Eye and I Want to Come Home").  So many great "rare" songs.  I started this thread talking about "unreleased songs" but I would group them all as "extra songs, B-Sides, and songs relegated to film soundracks etc etc.  As a group, they are great  "lost" songs because they don't have a home on one of Paul's original albums.   Probably 90% of Paul's fanbase aren't even aware of them.

One that I missed and so glad you included is "222" which was put on the Deluxe Edition of Memory Almost Full along with "Why So Blue".  These are great examples of "lost songs" that were not included on the original album from which they came.

I also love "Blue Sway" along with the video which was done by filmmaker Jack McCoy.  Another song not on the original Mccartney 2 album.  Never knew that Paul had included lyrics to "Blue Sway".  Beautiful video!

I had both "India" and "Whole Live" on my List of great "unreleased" songs.  "India" was part of Paul and his Band's "Secret Show" in the early 2000's.  Love this song!  IMO you could edit out the 1st minute with the nonsensical lyrics but once the Band (including Paul's Bass) starts playing, the music and instrumentation is great.  I also love the later version/video of Dave Mason in the studio with Paul and the boys putting finishing touches on "Whole Life".  It was later put on the Nelson Mandela Tribute EP.  It's a great track and a little better than the "rough" version on the recent Flaming Pie Remaster/Archive Package..

How rare is Paul's "If I Take You Home Tonight" (a leftover from the "Kisses on the Bottom" Album and done as a cover on Diana Kroll's recent album.  I have never heard Paul's original version but obviously Ms. Kroll (And Elvis Costello's wife) loved the tune.

"On the Wings of a Nighingale" is always great to hear and a true great "unreleased" Paul Demo track.  And I love "In the Blink of an Eye" from the Ernest and Ethel Soundtrack and  another great "rarity" that Paul has never played "live".  Fortunately Paul and Band did play "I Want to Come Home" live a few times on his more recent tours.  As we know, it was put on the "Everything's Fine" Soundtrack but not on one of Paul's albums.

Thanks again Love2Travel for your "Rarities" List and Video's.  I loved hearing them during my "quiet time" in the early morning (July 4th Weekend in 2021).

All of the songs on your list (and others) have one thing in common.  They are rare and not on original Paul Albums.  They are also very hard to find.  This is why I hope Paul eventually releases an Updated and Complete Post Beatles' Compilation/Anthology by Decade.  A project like this would be so convenient and great for the true Paul McCartney fans to have.

Could you (or someone else like Oobu) put the song "Simple As That" on this Thread.  There's a little confusion about this song.  "Simple As That" is a real gem and was added as a Bonus Track on the 1993 Reissue of Pipes of Peace.  The confusion takes place when in the 2015 Archive/Remaster of Pipes of Peace was released, there is a Bonus Audio Disc of one of Paul's Demo of "Simple As That" that is a completely different song.  The real gem in my opinion is the full song of "Simple As That" on the 1993 Reissue.  On the 1993 Reissue I think I read that some of Paul and Linda's children appear as background vocalists on the track.  Not just me but I think many hard core fans here would love to hear that audio/video.

I think "Simple As That" was later released in 1986 on a Charity Album called "The Anti-Heroine Project: It's a Live-in World" with various artists.

Here are some of the lyrics on "Simple As That":

I know it isn't easy to refuse

A lot of Thoughts are flying through your head

Tell me This before you have to choose

Would you rather be alive or dead?

                                  Chorus

                                  If's as simple as that

Would you rather be alive or dead

                                  It's as simpoe as that

It's so simple, it makes you want to cry

Thanks Oobu.  It's definitely the 2nd song above.  The Demo above that was on the 2015 Archive Remaster of Pipes of Peace with the same title is totally different and not a full song imo.  The "Simple As That" bonus track on the 1993 Remaster is a full and complete song that was later put on the Charity Anti-Heroine Album I mentioned.  It has a raggae feel that Linda always loved and I think some of Paul and Linda's  kids appear as background singers on the track.  Another great hidden gem.
