Ok guys, now heeeere is a setlist....and checkout the encores which per Audi indeed need to be shaken up!! Venus & Mars / Rockshow (complete with "Green Metal Suit" spoken verse) Jet Letting Go All My Loving Listen to What the Man Said Silly Love Songs Paperback Writer My Valentine Nineteen Hundred and Eighty-Five Mrs. Vanderbilt The Long and Winding Road Maybe I?m Amazed I?ve Just Seen a Face I'm Looking Through You Put It There Another Day And I Love Her Bluebird Young Boy New Queenie Eye Lady Madonna All Together Now Lovely Rita She's A Woman Everybody Out There Ever Present Past A Day In The Life All Things Must Pass Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da Band on the Run Back in the U.S.S.R. Let It Be Live and Let Die Hey Jude I Saw Her Standing There Encore: I Want To Hold Your Hand A Hard Day's Night Hi, Hi, Hi (Wings song) Encore 2: Yesterday (The Beatles song) Backseat Of My Car No More Lonely Nights Soily ........How I wish this would all come true
Little sporty but the ideas are great. I stand beside it. Just shake up the order and it would be perfect. I would say keep the Golden Slumbers Medley.. Even though Soily would be nice! Add in Kite for "A Day in the Life". Somehow Put "Blackbird" and "Something" back in. After that I think it'd be one hell of a set

These alternate setlits have some great inclusions -- but the biggest problem amongst all of them are the encore sets. It is time to shake that up, too.
I agree with what you're saying honestly, but for some reason some of the songs he has in the encore currently and even in the past feel right. I can't think if hearing "Hi, Hi, Hi" or "Helter Skelter" in the main set. It would seem off to me... Kind of the same feeling that the placement of "Band On the Run" during the '89/'90 tour gave me. We could shuffle it up by reinventing it with completely new songs.. Haha

Ironically, although I'm firmly on the side of wishing for greater variety, I still find the Golden Slumbers medley to be the essential concert closer - in fact, my choice for the last two songs in the final encore would be a couple of standards...Live and Let Die, then Golden Slumbers. But that aside, my problem with the set list posted just above mine is there's too many 'repeat wings album cuts' (Mrs Vanderbilt, and to a lesser extend, Letting Go - also Bluebird make a temporary appearance a couple of years ago)...If you'd like to see a face lift, then go for a complete face lift...not just songs that were included at one point during the 'my band' area but maybe not recently...but rather completely new blood During the more recent tours, Listen to What the Man Said and Another Day were great inclusions...but now it's even time for those to go in lei of a couple of other seventies hit singles, and Let Me Roll It has to go in lei of another (non Band on the Run) Wings era album cut...I almost hate to see 'Nineteen Hundred and Eighty Five' go, but if I am to stick by my guns in this discussion, then that one should be rotated out as well. Would love to hear Soily and Back Seat of My Car included somewhere in there...And if Paul wants to showcase a quirky solo song (instead of quirky Beatles song, such as All Together Now or Mr Kite), there are a number of fun Wings and post Wings songs that would fit the bill...I mean, people ate up Ram On during it's short run...Mistress and Maid, Movie Mag (although not really his song), Famous Groupies (I heard a cover of this recently and it was surprisingly brilliant) and number of other choices could be rotated in and out To me, concerts from such established artists should fall into two categories - focused on brand new stuff while largely ignoring back catalog (save for a handful of bones) or a complete retrospective of one's career...if I were a casual fan attending a concert who didn't know the details of Paul's work from beginning to end, I would be convinced he retired in 1980, and that the few brand new songs were some attempt at a comeback Next time you're at a Paul concert and you're sitting next to someone who you perceive to be a casual fan, ask them how many albums Paul has released since 1980...while not expecting a precise answer (heck, I'd have to sit and think for a second), gauge whether their reaction is along the lines of 'he's released a fair number of albums since then' or questioning 'he's released albums since then????'

I believe a concert of any artist should be retrospective of their entire career. By doing this, you satisfy the entire audience not just the people who know your most famous songs. Also, I think you are showing respect to the people in the audience who have supported your entire recording career.

So no Jet and .....now Get Back? Get Back gets drop at the Lincoln show for I Saw Here Standing There. Get Back is another concert must, man so many good songs. But Get Back? My kids love that song, hope he plays it at Dodger Stadium.

I don't think Get Back is gone for good. Sometimes he switches Get Back with I Saw Her Standing There at certain shows.

Yes - last year he did it in cities where he performed two concerts; Get Back was played the first night, and I Saw Her Standing There replaced it for Night 2. This year, however, there are no "two-fers,", and it hasn't been played up until now, so looks like he may probably toss it in every few shows. I love hearing it, so hopefully I will catch one of the performances.
-
Last year he did it every other show. He's done that in the past too. I saw him play "I Saw Her Standing There" last year so... I'm hoping that I can catch him playing "Get Back" in Louisville this October. Sounds like an odd thing for anyone to say considering he's pratically over played that tune. I just want to get a chance to see it.. If he wants to rotate something at the show I'm headed to.. Why not play "Things We Said Today" or "I'm Looking Through You" in place of "I've Just Seen a Face"? Haha.

I once heard this one band do a medley between "Strawberry Fields Forever" and "She Said She Said". I honestly thought it was one if the coolest things I've ever heard. It work out well too. Basically it segued in to "She Said She Said" at the guitar solo of "Strawberru Fields Forever". It was awesome to say the least. After I heard it I began to think Paul should do that as a tribute to John. Have him play his Epiphone Casino on it. In my eyes it'd be a great setlist addition .

I agree in principal (and would prefer what you suggest)...but my point is that Paul doesn't seem to fall under either category....It's more like he wants to showcase a small part of his distant past, then promote a few new songs while he's at it

Saw Paul twice last yr in Warsaw and Vienna and on first show in Warsaw he did; I've Just Seen a Face/Get Back and for Vienna he played; Things we said Today/I Saw her standing there. Much prefer the latter combination, he could easily rotate more songs in and out and still put on a concert for people who may not have seen him before.
-
For you Paul is able to sing "Baby's in black"?? Or is too high for his voice?

It's so hard to work these alterations. They're *almost* predictable, but not quite enough. 2010 it started with the acoustic duos....I'm Looking Through You/Two of Us....I've Just Seen a Face/And I Love Her. I always wondered what started this considering Paul NEVER did anything like this in his career. Especially since the latter combination has become such a staple, very rarely shifted and the first combo don't even get played anymore!

Haven't been lucky enough to see ILTY/TOU played live yet, but going by the show in Lincoln (NE) where he just made one song swap change, Paul doesn't seem to be following any particular pattern like before.

I know I've said this before, but I've always thought "Two of Us " would be his perfect John tribute song, with photos of the two of them in the background....like he does for George. It's a very powerful reaction when the pics of him & George come up.Can you imagine the reaction if he showed John & Paul pics?

I agree! Like this?
