Set List critique

What about "Waterfalls"? I am reading the liner notes to "McCartney II" Deluxe Edtition and McCartney say that he thinks the song would have been a bigger hit if it had 'proper arrangements'. I love the song as it is but it could have been interesting to hear a revisited keyboard Wixed version live, or what to say.

I have read an interview of Brian Ray in 2005 who said that the song was rehearsed by the band. For me a rendition like "You never give me your money" made at eletric piano would be perfect for the nature of the song.

What is everyone's take on "Birthday" as an opener? I know for sure that it will at least be in the setlist for most of the shows for the rest of the tour primarily because they added graphics. They didn't have those last time I saw them in Greensboro. I think he has just worn out "Eight Days a Week" and it opens up a spot in the encore for something else.
-
It was a good call, if not unexpected. I'd take "Birthday" over "Eight Days A Week."

Personally, I think he should have continued the joke by doing "Birthday" then "Yesterday."

I know a lot of fans love this song but I always disliked it. Paul's spot on about the arrangement, ditch the electric piano replace it with a proper piano get rid of the synths and stick an orchestra in there. And finally speed up the tempo and I think it would work. listened to it last week for the first time in ages it's actually a good melody just far too slow the arrangement sounds dated. Maybe it's just me. Perhaps I hate electric pianos.

I would greatly prefer "Birthday" to "Eight Day a Week" as the opener...it packs a much greater punch. I'm curious about a few things in the set tomorrow...not expecting any great surprises but there are a few things on my mind... 1. The Opener? 2. Temporary Secretary...in or out? 3. Encore arrangement? Another Girl...CBML... who knows!

My bet is: 1. Eight Days a Week 2. IN! 3. I think Another Girl will be played at the start of the show and CBML in the encore

Paul really need to do like 5-6 shows around the world "ONLY for hardcore fans", fans that knows all of his songs and he can choose from all of them. For example 2 shows in the US (NY & CA), 1-2 shows in Europe (UK & other Europe country), 1 show I Australia and 1 show in Asia (Japan or something), It'll be really great. All of we and a lot of hardcore other fans won't miss these shows of course.

I don't know why everyone is so excited he is playing Temporary Secretary. It is not near being one of his better songs. I know, compared to nothing it is something. But still. : Now, Silly Love Songs?? Ok. I get that.

I'm sure that neither Sarah Mclachlan nor her fans define her career by "Ice Cream," but that doesn't mean fans don't "get it;" they consider it a quirky highlight whenever she performs it live.

Fair enough. But I might even take a beer/bathroom break during that one! It was never a major point in his career. Coming Up was the one people know from that LP. Play that one!

Oh but Temporary Secretary was the precursor to techno! Don't you know? :

At Philly, my teen-aged niece did not particularly care for "Temporary Secretary." She was waiting to hear her "favorite song ever": "Yesterday." Jeesh, kids today...

I wonder why change to a single 5/6-song encore, after so many years doing a 6/7-song double encore? Perhaps to avoid leaving the stage a second time (the first time being after Hey Jude), which saves a couple of minutes?
