Set List critique

And Macca's voice was in better condition last night, too.
-
Maybe Diana was last night Elvis tonight!!!. Would be a real suprise to perform something from FITD. I'd love for it to happen though, although I would be a tad bit dissapointed because I wasn't there to see it, and no chance either of them show up at later gigs .

It's like he's singing with one lung. There is no power in his voice. It's been croaky or wobbly before sometimes but not like this. It's weak, and sometimes feeble. Interestingly the press reviews have made no issue of it. Not yet.
Or maybe he's just a 74 year old man singing the songs he wrote when he was 25. Like it or not, he'll never ever sound as good as the year before (nor will any of us) so shall he be touring next year .. we'll be looking back to how great he sang in 2016 He's just human, isnt' he?
Think like that - if you don't want to give money for his show - don't give them. My biggest dream is to see Paul - I will travel 660 km to make it in June. I know that his voice has its best times behind, but for God sake - he is Sir Paul McCartney. He could play anything from his big career and it still will be amazing. World has maybe 4.600000 years, and we are living at the same time with as wonderful man as Macca, who gives us moments of tears and happiness with music and his entirety. We have to be grateful that we have this honour to see him playing by all those years.

Was he 25 when he co-wrote "FourFive Seconds"?

Just watched. Really does NOT need to do that song in concert. For ANY reason. Thrashes his voice.
-
Listening to Macca's "Footprints" right now. Absolutely gorgeous. In every way.

He really doesn't need it....I don't like this song and his voice isn't good at all! :

Totally wasted slot indeed. If he feels the need to play something recent for promotional purposes, I'd rather still be hearing "Hope For The Future"...or here's a novel idea...add in a new "New" song! "I Can Bet" is really the only one left on the album that I think would work well live.
-
"I Can Bet" is the shizzle!
-
Instead of playing songs from the nearly 3-year-old New album, or FourFiveSeconds, or Hope For The Future, I'd love if he actually previewed a track from something BRAND NEW that's he's working on.... If I recall, he played Follow Me at a couple shows in 2004, almost a full year before it was released on Chaos And Creation In The Backyard.

No but it took him 25 seconds to contribute his input.

Perfect for a ONE OFF at a concert. Get a buzz going, folks could youtube it. But it robs a decent song of a spot; come to think of it so does In Spite Of All The Danger. Just frustrating.

Exactly, it is perfect song to play in concert.

Guys, I had the day off today, and I spent a great deal of it playing my McCartney audio folder on random. A great way to maintain my respect for the man. Soooooo much great music. And memories. I'm considering adopting a mentality of pretending that the guy who tours perennially doesn't exist. I might pretend that solo-Paul McCartney fans are the same as XTC fans -- admirers of their art and are disappointed that they never tour. Easier said than done, probably.

It's painful to listen to him sing this song in concert. ops: He can't handle it vocally at all. I winced the whole way through it in Toronto this fall. I was hoping he'd drop it from the setlist by this point.

He does have an amazing catalogue of music. That will never change.

I wish he would tour, though. (See? It's already working. )

Yes, I heard him do Follow Me at Neil Young's Bridge School benefit roughly a year before the album came out. He introduced at as "a song we just recorded." It went over pretty well, though of course the crowd really went nuts for the Beatles songs.

It does work!!! WHY won't he tour??
-
Dunno. Some b.s. about maintaining dignity, or something.
