^^^What side were you on? The left pit was super organized, the security did a really good job of kicking out all of the people who tried to cut in line and even divided us up into groups of 200 to make sure no one was pushed or trampled while going into the pit. They really did an A+ job, totally the opposite of what I've seen at most festivals (and that includes Roo two years ago).
I never did get to thank that one guard who looked like Dennis Rodman for keeping it organized and kicking the line cutters (with white bucket hats) out. It was all really great until we all stampeded over the barricade.

Just found a video of one of the security guys doing the job!

I wasn't even there and I thoroughly enjoyed that video. I wish I could hear what the crashers were saying. You could tell she was trying to reason with the security guard. HA!

This issue reminds me of another matter that I found unsettling at Bonnaroo: Returning from one of our trips back to the car to cool off, etc., we noticed a line that was considerably shorter than the main-entrance's line. Unbeknownst to us, we were in the ADA line. We quickly decided to leave but couldn't help but notice the large number of people in that line who were clearly not disabled or physically challenged. I mentioned to a few folks in line that no one seemed to need that service, other than a pregnant lady that I saw. A few of them laughed in my face in a smug manner. Rod and I were furious. So, apparently, there is a segment of perfectly able-bodied Bonnaroo-attendees who pre-purchase the Americans With Disabilities Act package -- just to avoid waiting in the main line. Ah, humanity.

That's pretty pathetic...

Playing devil's advocate here-but sometime you can't tell a person has a physical disability by how they look on the outside. From what I have read it seems the Bonnaroo people did a good job of making sure fans were where they should be. I'm not saying everyone in that line was disabled, but I'm hoping most were....
-
I hope you're right, but those kids' smart attitudes suggest otherwise. No doubt in my mind that they found a loophole to run game on the 'Roo and felt no shame in doing so.
-
Well if that's the case then shame on them.......

OK, friends...confession time: Paul sounded great! Unfortunately, Rod and I made the mistake of arriving way too early...the heat, combined with walking over 20 miles, forced us to leave the concert early. We were absolutely exhausted. I got terribly sunburned, and I developed a rash...awful. Also, Rod and I were seemingly the only people there NOT on some sort of drug. I will never do Bonnaroo again (sober.) We left after "Another Day." So, other than "Hi Hi Hi," I got to see the songs I wanted to see most. I am DEFINITELY going to try and see Paul during the fall leg of the tour, when the new album is released...somewhere, hopefully.
Hopefully, this song I wrote/recorded will serve as a sufficient penance for missing so much of the concert. My very spur-of-the-moment song about my experience seeing Paul McCartney at Bonnaroo 2013! ... I love that improvised "Bonnaroo Jam" that Macca and his band did at soundcheck the night before, so I "borrowed" the hook for this song's groove. Enjoy! (please don't expect Sgt. Pepper, folks...this thing was literally written in minutes...LOL!) Thanks to FansOnTheRun for the inspiration for the title! (song) MACCA'ROO! (I Saw Paul McCartney at Bonnaroo!):
(all instruments/vocals: Audi) lyrics - macca'roo lyrics - VERSE1: Through the gates Couldn't hardly wait For "the cute one" to hit the stage But after nine hours I ran outta' power Headed back to the cage Jim James is a rock & roll jesus But not enough He just couldn't please us Only Macca can send us into a rage CHORUS: MACCA'ROO! MACCA'ROO! I SAW MACCA AT THE 'ROO! VERSE2: I learned at Bonnaroo 'cos I never knew Bruthas need sunscreen Preoccupied I found myself sun-fried But it didn't kill the dream I took a DIIV, felt Passion Pit's vibe' But, like at dawn Couldn't fight the yawn Ooh, Lawd! Now I'm smellin' green! (chorus/guitar solo/bridge) VERSE3: Helluva light show Balanced out the freak-show Surrounding me and mine I listened to what the man said Wiser than deadheads who were Amusing my valentine If I were 21, mighta' been more fun But still Macca's still "out there" I'll catch the next one But my body's telling me It's bed-time! (chorus) -

I didn't even know there was a left pit! We were on the right. None of that happened on the right side, although they did section us off according to a guy who was holding up a sign. But it was still very uncomfortable because we had to stand so tightly packed for the entire Wilco set to maintain our positions in line. The Safety people were told when there were line cutters, but claimed they couldn't do anything.

Yep, there are two lines on each side of the pit to get in. Normally its divided into two sections, but for Paul it was just one big pit. Weird that security said they couldn't do anything, they kicked out tons of line cutters on the left!
