Yea yea, well I started the confirmed thread
So did you learn it from the announcement show? It was too agonizing for me to sit through. :
What? You didn't enjoy watching Weird Al pull band names out of the butt of a talking pinata? Or watching an old woman eat a pie so we could see Paul's name written on the pie pan?
The ONLY way I would've forgiven Weird Al for that torture was for that one, glorious name to be announced.
You mean when Weird Al announced his own name?
Nah. Actually, I was referring to Nana Mouskouri. Seeing Paul is just gravy.

Vegetarian gravy, of course.

Nothin' but.

I left when the pie bit started.

"Somewhere to the south of New York City / Lies the friendly state of Tennessee..." How about a petition for "Sally G" live?

There must've been a pre-sale.

It must have literally happened in the hours between the announcement of the line-up until a little while ago, as I hope people aren't buying tickets for a show when they don't know who's playing.

There are thousands who go because of the cultural/social experience, regardless of who's playing. Especially those who've made friends via the event. Still, I'm nervous that the cheapest package is already gone.

Pre-sale discount tickets were sold in late November. Are you shocked when I tell you the Lowlands Festival over here is selling all their 55,000 tickets in 5 minutes with not a single act announced?

I'm not at all surprised. I watch all the festivals on the Palladia Network, as well as YouTube; Europeans LOVE their festivals. And I don't blame 'em.

Yeah, it sounds pretty ridiculous to book a ticket, travel, accommodations, etc. and not know what you're going to be listening to.

I think that's the way it goes at these festivals. Glastonbury (in the UK) has been sold out for months and the lineup has yet to be announced. I was thinking about going as I'm not all that far from Tennessee but now I'm thinking maybe all that will be available will be the expensive tickets? In which case, I'm out of the running. I've got a kid in college now and no money for high-priced concert tickets. Ah well, hopefully I'll be able to afford the WOA reissue.

Good to hear that! Any other acts on the bill you want to check out then?
-
I'm only going to go the day of Paul's show. If Paul plays the first or second night, I'll probably give my tickets away for the remainder of the festival.

The non-main stage acts are more exciting than the main stage ones (minus Paul, of course), so be sure to check 'em out, Audi! There's some good stuff happening like Matt & Kim, The National, Portugal, the Man, Walk The Moon...I could go on and on.

He's playing Friday, but I'm afraid they are working with wristbands... Really a shame if you miss out on the other acts though, but I probably can't convince you ;). What walliebaby said! I won't care about the main acts - apart from one certain MEGA-MAIN act, coincidentally ;).
-
I'm going to make the most of it -- there are lots of names that I recognized, including several indie bands that I like. But one night is enough.
-
Well, I'm shocked! I will not be attending. I'll be in Ocean City, MD at Senior Week until the 14th...so hopefully more US dates will come AFTER the festival.
-
Fookin' A this is exciting. Cue all the ill-informed "never knew McCartney rocked this hard/wrote this song/was this good/could put on such a show" reactions from festival-goers in June...
