Bonnaroo Festival, Manchester TN, 14th June 2013 - ARCHIVE

TheImportance:
Just to say, I've found it easier to wait in the pit line on the left side (facing the stage); the side furthest from the rest of Centeroo. Most people are already confused about the whole pit line-up procedure, so take advantage of their confusion!
I agree. The opposite pit line is more exposed, easier to find, and has better accessibility in comparison to the rest of the festival grounds. It's overcrowded always.

And the left side eventually gets some shade from the stage once the sun begins to set. And it is right next to the cleanest portapotties in Centeroo! Not a lot of people know they're even there, so no lines too.

So who would like to volunteer to camp out with me that Friday to get in the pit?

I said earlier I might plan a meetup of everyone who will wait for the pit before it opens at 1 on Friday.

I'll give some details the more I find things out. I might not have something set until the Thursday night before.

I'll be there for sure!

Not sure if I'll make Bonnaroo, but I heard they clear out the pit after every act. The same people arent in there all day.

They clear out the pit, but they don't clear out the line. While some people behind you will probably go in front of you to get close to Wilco, you can wait for the pit all day.

I've never been so I don't know. So its possible to wait all Friday to be in front for Paul? As in there will be a line soily for Paul?

This will be my 10th bonnaroo in the 12 years it has been around. They only started the pits in front of the What & Which Stages over the past few years. I have never used them as I'm always going to different stages throughout Centeroo to see all the amazing acts that I want to see. Though, if you are only there to see Paul McCartney you can likely stay around the line up area all day to get into the pit. I don't expect that you need to, but it's something you may do.

My wristband arrived! With a few other little surprise goodies in the package.

Bonnaroo is nearly sold out! So for all of those who are wanting to go to the best festival in North America to see Paul McCartney you better get your tickets quick!

We received our VIP wristbands this past week as well; it will our first Bonnaroo and we are pumped! A couple of questions for the Bonnaroo veterans: 1) If you wait in the pit line, are you able to see acts on the What! stage? We are huge Wilco fans as well and don't want to miss them. 2) do you have any perspective on the location of the VIP seating? Just wondering if it would be best to just sit in the VIP section and not spend all day in the pit line....seems like it wouldn't be the same as rocking in front of the stage though Bottom-line: If there is a group that is planning on hanging out during the day in the pit line, I would love to join you. How will we coordinate the meet-up? Thanks....looking forward to a wonderful 4 days on The Farm!!!

Yes and Yes! My view from the pit line was off to the very side. I could see perfectly because there was no one that far off to the side to see an act. The VIP mound/hill is also a great place to see a set. This is an average view. It is a literal hill so it has slightly higher elevation than the rest of the area. There are chairs available, but they go fast, so bring a blanket or towel. And the mound is fenced off Coordinating a meetup won't be a challenge. We could just plan for the board members who will wait all day in the pit line (like myself) to gather at a landmark there (or something significant, like the mushroom fountain or the ferris wheel) before the What stage is opened up and wait in line as soon as the area is open to the public apart from the rest of the festival grounds.

I asked this on another thread, but I think this thread is a more relative one. Has anyone considered any chance of Paul attending James's show at the bluebird cafe in Nashville on 6/12?? Given the fact that his Bonnaroo slot is Friday the 14th and the Friday headliners always soundcheck on Thursday...so I would imagine he will be in town? Even though the show is sold out, I wondered if it would be worth hanging out before or after the show. I am not a stalker...haha I have just done the limo watch a few times and thought this may be another great chance to see Paul! Can't wait to see him at Bonnaroo! One week from tonight! Hope everyone going has a great time!

This is a good point. It could also bring up the question of Paul even at his son's Roo set on Saturday. I did mention in this thread earlier about Friday Headliners soundcheking on Thursday (with Phish as an example.) No one knows for sure what Paul could do and no one really knows the specifics. I know the mod rules on here, but the possibilities of what most artists do is either stay in Nashville, or stay at the "Ritz Carlton of Manchester," the Holiday Inn Express, where celebrity sightings are frequent. His plans and itinerary, whatever they may be, will be key in that possibility.

I also want to note for anyone else planning to wait the entire day out in the pit line like myself that the website may be wrong. The website lists the "Main Venue" containing the What stage as opening at 1PM on Friday, yet there is an act scheduled to play there at 12:30. There is usually a more specific listing of times and information in a handbook given to you upon arrival and it includes a section on pit line information. I would plan regardless to wait for the gates to open on Friday and buy merch in the morning.
