Is Anyone Else Finding The New Forum Hard To Navagate?
-
Is anyone else finding this new form hard to navigate? I sure am. I want the old forum back: with pages to click, clear ways to reply, or post a new topic. Or maybe I'm just growing older. Sigh........
-
We're all getting older & usually dislike changes. Especially when we're having problems. Hopefully a few of them will be worked out shortly.
-
I like the old forum better too. But they just expect us to blunder around and figure out things on our own or with the help of another boardie!
-
They did the same thing last time. We all were asking questions that no one in authority ever answered. We had to figure it out on our own.
-
@little-laura-0 Just made it over here with the help of a kind webmaster. Finding my feet and having a look around. Currently I'm just happy to be back!

As someone who's been involved in the creation of websites (with other people handling the technical aspects), I must say I think Paul should fire his entire web team. They've now had two terrible redesign launches in a row, and there's just no excuse. It's actually not hard to make the navigation clear and understandable -- there are people who do this for a living! Apparently none of them work for Paul, however. And it's really not hard to set up a pop-up window with a brief explanation of key changes so people don't have to blindly stumble around, figuring stuff out through trial and error. Fer chrissake, it's 2022. None of this is rocket science.
Also, the link in the original email that was supposed to let you reset your password did not work for me. After trying 3 times over the course of about 24 hours with no luck, I emailed the webmaster address that was given last Friday. Heard nothing and emailed again Tuesday, and only last night did I get a reply.

@bruce-m Totally agree and btw, how did you make that one sentence darker? I guess you used the “B” for Bold. The print is still too light for me! I changed the skin to Readable and it went from light silver/gray to light black.
I can read the preview easier because it is black on gray! -
@njr Try changing your page to black like I said before...the type is white. Not hard to read at all.
-
@oobu24 Okay, I changed it to Darkly and it is definitely easier to read! Thanks!
-
@njr Good! Glad it's better.
-
@njr I think you're solved this, but yes, when you compose a post now there's a line of icons at the top of the window that include B for bold, I for italics, bullets and some others.
But I haven't figured out how to change the look of the page and the dark thing you talked about. Where is that?
-
@bruce-m Click on your avatar at top right, then Settings. On the left you will see Select a Skin. Select Darkly and then at the bottom click Save. Your background will be black and the writing will be white.

Found out you don’t have to use that chain link icon to post a link. You can just copy and paste now!
The icon to the right is to post a photo, but it’s weird. When you click on it you get this:

and you have to delete the words image url and paste your photo URL between the parentheses!
And the icon on the far right brings up your photo library on your computer or iPad, which I just this second discovered. Testing to see if I can post a pic directly from my iPad without using Photobucket.
If this works, I took pic in Liverpool.
ETA: Well, of course it didn’t work.
This is the pic (posted using Photobucket)

I don't really find this new board format harder to navigate at all, all you have to do is just click on a thread you want to read and then choose newest to oldest. I realize not all are in the same opinion of course, but it didn't take me long to figure it out. I did have to email the webmaster a few weeks ago to assist with my password reset, but they got back to me quickly and it was fixed.
-
Just figured out you don’t have to delete the words image url. You just click on the words and paste your photo’s url.
-
So am I missing something? One can order the posts in a thread from oldest to newest or vice versa, but is there a way to read them from oldest to newest but skip to the end, or to the first new post since you last visited? If so, I haven't figured out how.
-
@bruce-m When you click on an unread thread, on the bottom right a white box appears asking you to click on it to go to last read post. It appears & is gone very quickly. I usually just click on Newest to Oldest and scroll up a tad. I can easily tell what was the last post I read because I sign in here around noon & 11:30pm every day.
-
@njr Thanks, Nancy. That's so not intuitive. I still think Paul needs a new web team.
-
This new Forum is confusing as hell! I just returned back on the Forum yesterday for the first time in years and now I'm learning how to post on this new Forum, let alone the old Forum.

Agree! Just ask and I’ll help you. A lot of stuff has already been explained by one or more of us on the Maccaboard PaulMcCartney.com forum, especially the Welcome to the New Maccaboard thread.
It was “trial & error” here for about 3 weeks. The new board began 28 days ago.
What color is your background and writing? If it’s white, but the letters are too light/gray, click on your avatar at top right, go into Settings, and under type of skin choose Readable, then click Save at the bottom. It makes the letters darker.
