Lewisohn's Book

I have the deluxe version on order and will just wait for its publication and ignore the abridged version. I've waited years for this book so a few more weeks won't make any difference. Sure, £75 is a lot of money for a book but this isn't just any book. In theory it should be one of the most important books ever written about the Beatles.
well this book don't seem all that important to me its just restating what we have already read about the Beatles. and that is not worth me going completely broke for . but if you think its worth it i cant help that. to each its own i guess. sorry for being a pessimist but i am just not in the business of making these authors rich when i am struggling myself.
Well I'm not really expecting any great revelations in the book, not after fifty plus years, but I am hopeful that all the accurate infomation on the early Beatles can now be found in one place. And if I sell off all my soon-to -be redundant Beatle books I might just be able to cobble together enough cash to pay for the new one. Sorry to learn of your own struggles ..........just don't give up.

^There are loads of new revelations in the book, FYI. As I said in my review on my site, there aren't any "HOLY SHIT!" huge reviews, but loads of little things that either fill in the gaps of what we thought we knew, or new info that clarifies ambiguities.

Thats encouraging news. Its a good time for Beatles related books.....the new book , 'George Harrison: Behind The locked Door' (by Graeme Thomson) is proving a very good read.

Please give us one little "spoiler!"

In the interest of not ruining it for anyone who doesn't want to read a spoiler, I'll direct you to my review on my site, I've got some spoilers in there : http://rnrchemist.blogspot.com/2013/10/book-review-beatles-all-these-years.html

This sounds good. I would love to read it. George was the first Beatle I heard play in concert, but the least understood by me. I really don't have a handle on who he was. I mean beyond the obvious, very spiritual, did drugs, loved his wife, then didn't, loved Eric Clapton's company even after his wife moved in with him and remained friends 'till he died. Lots of contradictions. Also, very talented song writer and musician, but that goes without saying.

George really was an enigma to me too. Many contradictions in his life. All that spiritual/love stuff and then he treated Paul badly at times during the Beatles breakup and beyond. Stuff like that. I never knew until relatively recently what a womanizer he was too!

Do you mean up to Olivia? Or, maybe we shouldn't talk about that subject. Anyhoo, Patti said he did other women in their home while she was there, at least Maureen, but that's old news.

It's in the books and even in the Living In The Material World special Olivia talks vaguely about it. She chose to stay with him.

I wonder if it just came with the territory, the infidelity. You never hear about Paul's or Ringo's escapades after marriage?.if they had any?.but then maybe YOU DO Is there anything about The Beatles you DON'T KNOW????? Don't answer that. I know the answer. I wonder if Paul ever reads things written about him, quietly chuckles, and thinks something like "If they only knew some of the things I HAVE done." I would think he has to have a sense of humor about it b/c you can't stop people writing fiction about celebrities.

You've hit the nail on the head (no pun intended!) But I do think Paul was faithful to Linda & even HM (until 2006) It was Dot & Jane that he cheated on all the time.

He had probably had so much sex in his life, by that time, he was probably was glad to slow down (like we know anything--all speculation).

He is a man who takes his wedding vows seriously. Girlfriends, not so much

How about fiancés? He was engaged to Dot, then she lost their baby. He was engaged to Jane on Dec. 25, 1967 and continued to cheat on her with Maggie McGivern, Linda, and others. Yes, he finally (hopefully) took his wedding vows seriously.

well i was going to say is that when a man eats steak everyday he gets sick of it after a while. which is the case with PAUL, but of course in his case he wasn't eating steak. hint hint.
