My Visit To Ringo's Child hood Home In Liverpool
-
Hi all. Here is a short clip of my visit with some of my friends, to Ringo's child hood home in Liverpool.
-
@wandy I recognized Richard Porter and David Bedford in the video (David was our Liverpool guide in 2016 & I have his book Liddypool) I was inside the home in 2011 when Jackie Spencer was our guide. Margaret was all stooped over and didn’t speak then.
That’s Jackie with Margaret, who has since passed away. I don’t think the new owners allow tours inside.
We went in 2022 on our own just to take photos of the Ringo mural on the side of the Empress Pub. -

Thank you @wandy this is a beautiful movie. It really is. A little short I would have liked to see more.
It's well directed.
Good job. -
@littlewillow It's a hit!!!! YAY!!🥳

@njr Margaret looks very frail in your picture. I went in around 2008, she was quite animated, as you saw in my movie. Sadly she said some fan's stole Beatles trinkets from her home, probably as momentos. Shame on them
-
@njr That pub looks a lot brighter than when we went in 2008. Looks really nice now. Musta been freshly painted since our time there

The mural/painting was just done this Spring/Summer 2022.
This photo I got online in Mar. 2022 when only the one side was painted. The other photos I took in Aug. 2022. -
This photoI got online after we got back from our trip. Can you spot the difference between the 3 views of that area? Clue: Something else got painted.

@njr Talking of Murals. I think if the Beatles had been allowed to keep their mural on the side of the Apple Boutique building, in Baker St London, then I truly belive that today the British government would have put a preservation order on it and made it Grade 2 listed. Although I was told once by a fan that several years ago she went there because somebody had arranged for a special recreation of the mural, by light show. I would have loved to have seen that. The original Mural was painted by "The Fool" ( Dutch artists) who also painted John Lennons Psychedelic Rolls Royce. Ah! Great days!!
-
@njr Yes I can see the "Junction box" has been painted too ( just call me Leut Columbo )

When we were there in Aug. it had been painted blue, but no writing or anything else was on it.

I agree! The Fool also painting the gypsy wagon that John gave Julian for his 4th birthday. Have you seen it?
-
@njr Oh yes. It's beutiful. I think The Fool also got involved in fashion via Patty Harrison.

I don’t know, but I do know Paul had a fling with Marijke Koger.

@njr Re John's psychedelic Rolls Royce. A story I forgot to mention. Back in 2010 on John's 70th birthday we went to Abbey Road to have a celebration. Amazingly we weren't the only ones to have that idea. There musta been about a thousand fans milling around Abbey Road singing and generally having fun. I was there, again with my video camera filming the whole thing. At some point a replica of John's psychedelic Rolls Royce made an appearance. Even the replica is worth over £250,0000. It is now owned by, Believe It Or Don't ( a company that specialises in specialties lol!! Actually I haven't a clue what they do) Anyhow, eventually my friends decided to go to a party organised by the Tribute band, Sgt Peppers Only Dartboard Band ( no seriously that is their name ) I'm not over keen on Party's so I went home. What I didn't know was one of my friends managed to wangle a ride in the replica Rolls Royce. A ride for all of them, including me, if I was there. But I went home OMG! I still think of my missed chance even today ️

@wandy Did you mean Ripley’s Believe It Or Not? Anyway, in August 2022 when we were in Liverpool and just came out of the British Music Experience, this is what we see parked on the street!
-
@njr Yes that is probably the car that was in Abbey Road on the day we were there. Unless there is more than one. But I doubt that.
