Well I can't believe it's been 65 effing years. I've certainly enjoyed MYSELF being a fan. I wish I had just appreciated it more at the time. When you think ALL those fab songs were written for children. CHILDREN!! My god that's unbelievable good quality!! Especially compared to the rap crap drivel the kids are fed now.

I know! Me too! But by Revolver, the songs had evolved and especially Tomorrow Never Knows was not aimed at the teenyboppers! Yes, there were still songs for the kids (Yellow Submarine, All Together Now, etc.) but by 1967 most of the fans were old enough to appreciate the more “mature” songs. I know I was, even at 12! LOVED Sgt. Pepper! And you know, girls mature faster than boys! (I was lovestruck at age 8!) 🥰️

Mature? Yes of course I do, but so did the CHILDREN ( apologies for shouting at you) But I'm not necessarily even talking about maturity, I'm really talking about absolutely top class pop music. Just the best you can get, and it was for the under 18s. Children. When you consider today's utter, tripe, rap crap music (I call it music written by ppl who can't actually write music. They are just "wannabes") and how utterly moronic it is, compared to The Beatles music, feeding the Beatles music, to fans of rap, would be like giving caviar to pigs. It just wouldn't be appreciated. I was also looking at an early Deep Purple concert. Long meandering guitar solos. The kids sat there listening to every guitar note played. Today's generation wouldn't have the patience for that at all lol. I would love to be young again. But only if I could go back to the 60s and 70s. Don't want to be young in this age and time.

There is one FANTASTIC thing the young fans can do, that us oldies can't do anymore, and that is discover the Beatles music for the very first time. Just Imagine you are about to hear Hey Jude, for the very FIRST TIME, EVER!! Or Dear Prudence. Or WMG Gently Weeps. I can just about remember hearing WMGGW for the first time. Just thought it was fantastic.

Well, earlier you disagreed with me when I talked about their music evolving with Revolver and especially Tomorrow Never Knows! Now you are agreeing with me?
And it goes without saying that the fans grew up along with the band. The average age of a Beatles fan in 1964 was probably about 11 or 12, so, yes, the average fan was 17 or 18 when they split up. But lots of fans were older. Look at Peggy Lipton, who was just shy of 18 in 1964 when she got together with Paul! I have a couple of FB friends who were 18 in 1968 and made “pilgrimages” over to London then! (My dream, but alas, I was 5 years too young!)

The oldest fan I know is the vicar of my mums local church. His name is "Mike" ( such a lovely name) and he's 73 yrs old. For the past year my mum's been going through a mental breakdown and couldn't go to church, so "church" came to her. Mike, her vicar. The first time he came to our house I was wearing one of my Beatles T shirts. He spotted it with in minutes. Lol!!! He spent an hour ar our house. 15 mins talking to my mum, and 45 mins talking to me about The Beatles‍. Not bad for a guy who came to visit my mum, only. I'm not religious, and I had never met him before. After he went home, my mum told me off unceremoniously about keeping him talking about the Beatles, when he had ACTUALLY come to see HER. He's been back twice more since his first visit. I gave him a copy of my Casbah Coffee club DVD, I filmed in 2008, and a copy of my London Beatles Walk DVD, which Ladyleslie has ( I hope ) which I filmed about 5 yrs ago. And on his last visit I gave him a copy of the last film I made of me and my Yahoo Beatle Group ( called The Real Love Beatles Group) on the last Mad Day Out I did with them. I got too old to walk around all day. I filmed all the Beatley days out we did, since 2005. What the heck Mike thought of our dvds, I don't know, but we finished several of them with a game of Beatles Mastermind, in a London Park, with people walking past, thinking WTF are they doing we were having a blast! So at least he could join in with that if he wanted to. Beatles fans are only happy when they are showing off how knowledgeable they are about their favourite band. Ah! The good ole days

@wandy When I was at St. Peter’s Church in 2016 having just seen the Eleanor Rigby gravestone for the 2nd time, I saw this “little old man” sitting on a bench near the church. He was holding a large framed photo from Paul’s Liverpool Institute and I think he said he was a year or two ahead of Paul, so he had to be about 78 at the time! I asked if I could take a close up of the photo (I’d seen it before many times)
