Does Paul do the backup harmony on this or is it George himself?

According to the Beatles Bible, both George and Paul sing back up on the song http://www.beatlesbible.com/songs/while-my-guitar-gently-weeps/

According to Mark Lewisohn (in 'The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions') it was just Paul doing the harmonies. That does sound more likely as George's leads vocal and Paul's harmony vocal would have been taped live on one track. For George to have provided harmony for his own lead vocal, it would have meant (partially) using up another track. Having written that,it does sound like their are two b/v's on the track, and one thing is for certain, John wouldn't have been involved.

There are two George vocal tracks. He is double tracked, ie singing in unison with himself through the whole song. Paul is singing the high harmony on his own.

According to wikipedia, it's Paul on vocal harmonies. Interestingly, they say John plays electric guitar but it could only be heard during the end coda.

Paul's vocal is so obvious on this track! Likewise Come Together; and yet some insisted he did not sing on it (CT). Amazing. Paul's high harmonies stick out like barker's eggs! The question needn't even be asked! (Nancy - I'm looking at you. tsk tsk.)

I've always heard that Paul was upset/disappointed that John didn't ask him to sing on the track and that John did his own backup vocals. Listen closely...it sounds like John.

On Come Together, John is double-tracked on parts, meaning he sings in unison with himself. Paul is singing the low harmonies on the verses and the "Come Together!" part.
