Coke! Remember they always said Rum & Coke was their favorite? Or was it "Two lagers and lime, and two lagers and lime"?
Did they ever actually say that or was it just fan magazines?
And didn't they say Brigitte Bardot was their favorite "actress?" Or however/whatever they characterized her as being. Weren't various questions/answers listed on the back of the Introducing The Beatles ...Vee-Jay album....which got the jump on Capitol Records which, somehow, did not grasp what they had yet!!!?

As far as I know, rum & coke was their preferred drink, and Brigette Bardot was definitely John’s favorite.
There were no questions & answers on the back cover of Introducing The Beatles. -

Correct. I was unaware of that Vee-Jay album. I got the title wrong. The Vee-Jay album titled "BEATLES, Songs, Pictures, & Stories of the Fabulous Beatles Inside the album"....which I still have...has all that information...the likes, including Rum & Coke, Brigitte Bardot, etc., of each Beatle. I have read, regarding Vee-Jay, the company would have signed with Brian Epstein for the band....based on their Decca tapes.... two years earlier had the company not come upon hard times financially....and thus would have beaten Capitol by about 2 years. It would not have been the same and the band likely would not have been so overwhelming to the country as they were and when they were after appearing on Ed Sullivan, and having the Number 1 song in America. The timing, the promotion....or lack thereof, etc., would not have worked earlier. As it worked out, everything that needed to come together....did so...and the rest is history. It was the timing as well as the talent. That's my take.

Not sure if I have that album, will have to check (I’ve heard of it of course)
Vee-Jay went bankrupt because its president was embezzling from the company. -
Here’s Neil on Feb. 9, 1964, once again standing in for George. Ringo finally got his proper drumset!

May 1966 at Chiswick Park during the Rain video shoot. George is nearly hidden behind Brian Epstein. Also in photo is Tony Bramwell (1st in line), Michael Lindsay-Hogg, Alf Bicknell (their driver), Neil Aspinall, Tony Barrow and Mal Evans. Don’t know who the girl is - maybe Michael’s assistant. He’s the one with the camera.
ETA: This is what the caption said (my friend sent me) Still not convinced that is not Tony Bramwell on far left.
In 1966 the Beatles made a special promotional film for Paperback Writer' in the grounds of Chiswick House. Pictured here are almost the complete Beatles management and support team. They are (left to right): director Michael Lindsay-Hogg, John, chaffeur Alf Bicknell, Ringo, Neil Aspinall, Sue Mautner of The Beatles Book, Paul, one of the cameramen, Brian Epstein, George, Mal Evans and Tony Barrow.
The only person present at Chiswick House on that day who is quoted in the Anthology apart from the Beatles is Neil Aspinall. -

George & Pattie in 1964 in Trinidad and in 1991 at Friar Park for Dhani’s 18th birthday.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day and Happy Birthday to Pattie!

I’ve never seen any of these childhood pics of them!

@beatles4ever-1 yes it was all timing...any other combination would not have worked.

"She's got a ticket to ride, but she don't care..."
Onstage at Barcelona's Plaza de Toros today in 1965: the final concert of The Beatles’ European Tour which had kicked off in Paris on 20th June.
Three decades later, Paul would recall "playing a big bullring in Barcelona, the Plaza de Toros, where the Lord Mayor had great seats and all the rich people had seats but the kids, our real audience, were outside. We used to get upset about that: ‘Why are we playing to all these bloody officials? We should be playing to the people outside. Let them in… ’ But, of course, they wouldn’t."

First the story, then the painting:
"THE CAVERN SPOTLIGHT"
(more from the upcoming book - announcement in August)
1999 was a big year for me; life changing in every way!
I was invited to participate in the unveiling of the USA #YellowSubmarine postage stamp at the #Liverpool Town Hall, box seats at the remake of the film "Yellow Submarine", and back to the Town Hall for the after-party for the film. #GeorgeMartin and many others upper-Beatle-echelon were present. All this and it was only my 3rd time to Liverpool in a total of 2-years.
Fast forward...as I walked into the film's after-party Bill Heckle (owner of The Cavern Club) stopped me and said, "You won't be dining with us."
With total embarrassment, I thought..."Oh my God, I got it wrong. I'm not supposed to be here. What was I thinking?"
Bill pointed into the large dining area, "You're the entertainment."
In the corner was my easel, airbrushes, paint, a large canvas, and my "smirking" assistant (who I wanted to torture for years to come).
I said, "But Bill, I haven't any photos or reference material."
Bill looked at me, matter-of-factly, and said, "Well... you're 'The World's Greatest Beatles Artist'. Here's you're chance to prove it."
What do you say to that? He had me, didn't he?
I was petrified for failure was riding on my slumped shoulders and the long walk to my easel was like a cameo inmate spot in the movie, Green Mile.
So I did what I had to do and just started to paint. What else could I do...leave? Oh, I thought about it.
In the end, Bill was right. The painting was pretty good. I'm not bragging...I was absolutely surprised at myself. Obviously Bill knew more about me than I did. And big surprise, a fella named #NeilAspinall came over to let me know how much he loved watching me. (Another story)
Later that evening I was having drinks with Bill at The Cavern (one Jack Daniels and Pepsi to one of his pints of Ale). Bill said, "You got yer bass so I set you up to play here tomorrow at 12."
All this and now The Cavern stage?! Mother of God, I was gobsmacked (a cool word I learned in Liverpool and wore out rather quickly). For the first time I would be playing the club of clubs, the holy grail of stages, the place where it all began...THE CAVERN!
So what shall Bill and I do now? WE SHALL DRINK SOME MORE!!!
At about 2:30AM my mind had decided I had my fill. I was "terr-ashed" as we call it in New Jersey. Lucky for me I could sleep-in as I didn't have to play until tomorrow at midnight.
As I staggered away, off to my room, Bill said..."I will see you for soundcheck at 11AM."
HUH? It was then that it hit me...I was not playing at 12AM. I was playing at 12PM... in the bloody afternoon.
So here is a photo of me... with a "big head" [big head: U.K. hangover], my 12-String Hamer Bass Guitar, no air-conditioning, in 100-degree fahrenheit thickness, under those lovely hot Cavern lights, still tasting Jack and Pepsi, as I sputtered out the words to "Stand By Me".
After I came off the stage, Bill greeted me with a smile and asked, "Jack and Pepsi?"
I didn't think twice and said, "Absolutely!"

P.S. Shannon only posted the painting at my request. She is going to have me proofread the book she refers to and give me a free copy!

Sorry about the duplicates. Tried to delete one and it deleted both, so I had to restore it! Thankfully that worked!
