Today's boy bands should dress like this.

July 28, 1968 I think this is the only pic of them where you can see all four of their hairlines.
That's wild when you think about it. They were photographed more in 8 years than most of us will ever be in our lifetimes. Yet we almost never see their hairlines.

This is my first time to see other picture from that Rubber Soul photo session. Nice pic. Thanks for sharing.
-
^ Have you see this one?
-
No, oobu, I haven't. So that is where the Rubber Soul cover image was cropped. Thanks very much. I saved it.
-
^^ yes. It is a picture from a picture. Or so I have been told.
-
I wonder if Mr Freeman photographed that photo or they already had a technology for stretching and/or effecting pictures.

He took the picture and then when he was showing it to the Beatles (was it as a slide?) something happened where the image became distorted and they all liked it so much they asked for the cover to be printed like that. Found the explanation: Rubber Soul was the group's first release not to feature their name on the cover, an uncommon tactic in 1965. The 'stretched' effect of the cover photo came about after photographer Bob Freeman had taken some pictures of the group wearing suede leather jackets at Lennon's house. Freeman showed the photos by projecting them onto an album-sized piece of cardboard to simulate how they would appear on an album cover. The unusual Rubber Soul album cover came to be when the slide card fell slightly backwards, elongating the projected image of the photograph and stretching it. Excited by the effect, they shouted, "Ah! Can we have that? Can you do it like that?", to which Freeman said he could. The distinctive lettering was created by Charles Front (father of actress Rebecca Front), and the original artwork was later auctioned at Bonhams, accompanied by an authenticating letter from Robert Freeman.

Thanks, Nancy. When it comes to album covers of various artists, Rubber Soul is my favorite.

Wait! This is from the Buckingham Palace scene in Help!, not from the Rubber Soul photo session. Trivia: "Wait" was recorded during the recording sessions for Help!. However, it was shelved and later included on Rubber Soul. Well, I guess, most of you know that.

I too was thinking that because their clothes were different, it was not from the Rubber Soul photo session.
