I apologize if there's a thread like this out there already, but I couldn't find one. I thought it would be fun to be able to post your favorite bits of trivia about the Beatles (solo or in group form). The assumption is that everyone on the board doesn't know every little thing there is to know, so no harshing on anyone for posting something that you think is common knowledge. I will start... On "I Will" Paul "sang" the bass part rather than playing it on bass guitar.

Great idea for a thread, Dapp! Of course there is so much that I don't know so please forgive me if I'm stating something that's been expressed a thousand times in 100 different books. I have always loved the song "She's Leaving Home". And believe it or not, I even knew the back story of how Paul had read in the newspaper about a 17 year old girl who had run away from home when her parents had said she had everything. I knew all that. Very interesting story. I did NOT know until today that the girl in the newspaper had met them three years earlier on a TV show where she had won a prize and The Beatles presented the prize to her. She had even spent the day on the set while there were rehearsals apparently and had conversations with George and Ringo as the other two Beatles either weren't interested or were pre-occupied I guess. But how coincidental is that??!!! I can just hear the collective sighs across the universe...."We know!!!!!"

13 year old Phil Collins was in the audience in the theater scenes when the Beatles played in A Hard Day's Night.

Scarlett, I actually didn't know that. I had known about the story as an inspiration for the song, but never read much about her past. Cool! Paul admitted to writing "For No One" in the bathroom at a Swiss chalet while on ski holiday with Jane Asher. The original working song title was "Why Did It Die".

I don't think so! It only seemed like there were all girls in the audience.

The first Beatles concert at Shea Stadium was on August 15, 1965. Interestingly, among the 55,000 screaming, worshiping fans were two future Beatle wives.... both Linda Eastman and Barbara Bach (the future wives of Paul and Ringo, respectively, of course).

George Harrison produced Monty Python's Lumberjack Song. He also appeared live, unannounced, as a mountie on stage with the Pythons for the song a couple times.

"Introducing George Harrison as Pirate Bob" I bet he did that because they said he "pirated" He's So Fine for My Sweet Lord!

Something I just learned... the opening to The Continuing Story of Bungalow Bill there is a flamenco guitar. But it's not a flamenco guitar. It's the mellotron. I had no idea. Pretty cool.

What sounds like a male falsetto part in "Bungalow Bill" is Yoko making her "singing" debut on a Beatles album and you can also hear her voice in some of the choruses. : Her voice can be heard again on The White Album in "Revolution #9."

According to George Harrison at the end of "Long, Long, Long" you can hear a wine bottle that they were drinking wine from in the studio inadvertently rattling atop a Leslie speaker cabinet. It was decided that it would be left in the final mix.

I used this in one of my "what's in the box" clues! A bottle of Blue Nun.
