Hackney Diamonds - Rolling Stones

New "Rolling Stones" album coming out in October with guest appearance by Paul on two songs. Cool article below in Rolling Stone magazine.

@yankeefan2 I think he just plays bass, doesn’t sing.
-
Correct. Would have been cool if he did backing vocal -lol
-
Pretty good review of the album, see below.

Love it. Song rocks and Mick and the guys still got it -lol. That guy on bass is pretty good also -lol

The Rolling Stones' new drummer is Steve Jordan. Jordan played drums on "Jumping Jack Flash" (1986) by Aretha Franklin and produced by Keith Richards (played guitar on the recording).

Ronnie Wood was on Jimmy Fallon’s show talking about it and how Paul got involved. Of course fanboy Jimmy was like “A BEATLE on a Stones record!!” and losing his mind!
-
I get being a "fanboy" but Fallon does really go over the top.

@oobu24 I hate when Paul does his lips like that! Just smile man!

Me too. It's like he's sucking his cheeks in.

@jimmix
I read Charlie Watts picked the drummer. They were relieved to have someone Charlie picked to go to. -
Really like the fuzz bass on that song
-
Glad to see Paul getting around, but the song sounds like someone parodying the Stones trying to do punk. I'll pass.

The Rolling Stones' "Hackney Diamonds" has barely been out of the UK Album Chart Top 5 since it was released in late October, and has been to the Number 1 position twice. Can't imagine Paul doing that these days...it's usually a high entry on the first week of release, then it rapidly descends, disappearing from the Top 100 within a few weeks....

Very simple answer. The general music public believes Paul's solo work is not any good and will not give it a try. His fairly small fanbase for his solo albums will come out in force when album is released but he does not get others to buy his solo records. I am sure this would be a different story if the Beatles were still releasing new albums. The Rolling Stones are still together as a group and the album has gotten good critical reviews. In addition, the Rolling Stones said they were going to do a tour behind the album to give it some more publicity. Has Mick Jagger or Keith Richards ever had a major hit as a solo artist? I believe the answer is no.
