There's so much going on here in the U.S. to celebrate the anniversary that I think people may be a bit confused trying to put it all together, so here's the rundown: Tuesday, Jan. 21: The U.S. Albums boxed set - 13 discs - all the Capitol releases from Meet The Beatles! through Revolver, plus the United Artists A Hard Day's Night soundtrack, plus Hey Jude. All titles also available individually, except The Beatles' Story, which is only in the box. All titles will be in mono and stereo (on the same disc), except The Beatles' Story and Hey Jude, which will be in stereo only. All titles will have the U.S. running order, but not all of the U.S. mixes will be used (some will be the 2009 U.K. remasters). Sunday, Jan. 26: The Grammy Awards on CBS - The Beatles' Lifetime Achievement Award will be announced on the show, and Paul and Ringo are both slated to perform on the show, supposedly separately. Olivia and Yoko will both be presenting awards on the show. The day before (the 25th) is the actual presentation of the award, which so far is confirmed to include Ringo and members of John and George's families, but not Paul. Thursday, Jan. 30: The Sixties: The British Invasion, 9pm on CNN - Not strictly a Beatles special, but CNN is certainly pushing that aspect of it in their promos now. This is just one episode of CNN's ten-part documentary on the sixties. Monday, Feb. 3 thru Friday, Feb. 7: Late Show with David Letterman, 11:35pm on CBS - The entire week will be a Beatles-themed week on the show. Paul and/or Ringo may possibly appear on Friday. (Iust for context, that Thursday night is Jay Leno's final night of his show, and also on Friday will be the opening ceremony of the Olympics, so a lot of other distractions!) Sunday, Feb. 9: The Night That Changed America: A Grammy Salute To The Beatles, 8pm on CBS - On the 50th anniversary of their first Ed Sullivan appearance, the Beatles are honored in the form of other artists covering their songs. Paul and Ringo will perform together on this tribute show, which actually took place on January 27.

Thanks for that! I was beginning to think we were going to have to bring back the Dewey Decimal System to keep up with everything. (for those of you who have never been to a library before computers took over, that's how books were kept track of in card catalogs!) There's a surgeon at my work who says he has so many ex-wives, that's how he keeps track of them!

There is another Beatles special on CNN I think--I'll have to check on this and get back later. ETA: Found it! Jan. 30th. Not only on the Beatles, it's about the '60's British Invasion. http://cnnpressroom.blogs.cnn.com/2014/01/14/the-british-are-coming-special-presentation-of-the-sixties-the-british-invasion-executive-produced-by-tom-hanks-and-gary-goetzman-premieres-thursday-jan-30/

The leads me to believe that the show on CNN is only about the Beatles: CNN Beatles special: CNN has announced it will air a special on the Beatles 50th anniversary called ?The Sixties ? The British Invasion? at 9 p.m. Jan. 30. The program is taken from a 10-part series, ?The Sixties,? which will air beginning in May. ?The British Invasion,? co-produced by Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Mark Herzog, will feature interviews with Smokey Robinson, Micky Dolenz of the Monkees, Graham Nash of Crosby, Stills & Nash, journalist David Wild and drummer Ahmir ?Questlove? Thompson of the Roots.

Not to dork out too much, but the Dewey Decimal System hasn't gone away. It's how books are categorized and shelved in libraries still, and doesn't relate to just the card catalogs. And now, back to Beatle anniversary talk.

Hmm, I don't think so. I think each part is a different year of the sixties. They mention that the 1963 show focuses on the JFK assassination. A little hard to imagine CNN devoting an hour to the Dave Clark Five.

Of course, I may be wrong!

Nah, you're probably right--the hour will cover the British Invasion in '64 and (hopefully) concentrate on the Beatles.

I just edited the original post to reflect new information: Paul and Ringo performing together on the tribute show.

Very nice! Definitely a powerful point about how much incredible music they made in that five-year stretch (really more like four!) from Rubber Soul to Let It Be.

My DirecTV guide shows on Jan. 30th at 8 pm on CNN is Anderson Cooper and I understand Louise Harrison will be on. Then at 9 pm and again at 10 pm is the British Invasion program. I assume it is the same show, just repeated, but will DVR both just in case. They are both repeated later in the evening (after 11 pm)
