OK, girls....I'm turning this thread over to you. I've made myself look like an idiot quite often, but this has to be the clincher! NO....DON'T go back and read your earlier posts! How humiliating!! But, it's a great website and interview. Love that wetsuit!

Hi everybody! I decided I better check back in to this thread since, apparently, Fiona and Beatlesrock have taken it over!!! That's OK, though. Had great fun with the chat. ( Sorry you couldn't join us, Miss McCartney.) I'm counting on you to keep me updated as to when the webchat with Brian will be. Talk to you soon, Fiona. Oh, and about that phone number..........

Hi everybody! Haven't been able to post for a while, but thought Brian's Birthday was a good time to get back in touch. Happy Birthday, Brian!

RE: Brian Ray Archived
Didn't realize that I'd been missed! Thanks for the "welcome back." Yes, OH Darling....next year it is for the Landmine Dinner. Now....where do I come up with $500 for my ticket??? Oh yeah....that means airfare and hotel and car money too. Maybe I just better plan to move out there this summer! Want to hear something funny? My older son's middle name is Thomas. How's that for ironic? And Brian looks good in anything!!!

RE: Brian Ray Archived
Great work, everybody! I thought I had found every possible link on the web pertaining to Brian. These are some great pics! Yes, I'm in agreement with the rest of you. Crystal Lewis's husband is NOT our Brian. I did some research a while back (before I saw that photo) and decided that their ages were all wrong...."our" Brian is a good bit older than Crystal's. But, until I saw that picture a couple of months ago, I admit I was a little worried..........! So......anybody come up with anything new? The pics are great....any new news??? Paul's going to be on E!TV later this week....the Adopt-A-Landmine dinner. Check Rock on TV for times, etc. Maybe we'll get to see all our guys!

OH Darling, I certainly hope your prediction comes true!! 2004 would really be a great year! And you're right....Brian always seems to be very gracious and good-natured amidst all the hoopla. Yes, I have the A&E special marked on my calendar. Can't wait to see it. The wood carving tools were "found" on purpose. I had read that Anzen Hardware in Little Tokyo carries some of the best. That was one of the reasons we went to L.A. (It really was partly business, believe it or not.) And, yes, they have already been used. Although circumstances force me to work a "real" job, my business partner & I have a business on the side. We design and build custom wood furniture (along with some other artsy-fartsy things).

OH Darling, I'm glad you are enjoying all the stories about Brian. So am I. Just wish I had some of my own to share! Still, we haven't learned much more about him, have we? I thought for sure someone would post something about having gone to school with him or something! Does anyone know ANYTHING about him??? I read that Paul is going to be working with the band for the next 3 months, with the new CD coming out next year. Are they going to be in England that long? Has anybody heard that? By the way, OH Darling.......did I mention that I bought Japanese wood carving tools while I was in LA? Had to have them shipped home...didn't want to have them (or ME) confiscated on the plane!

RE: Brian Ray Archived
OK, Oh Darling.......be careful how you use that word "grandma"! I don't even allow my grandkids to use it! I'm a REALLY YOUNG grandmother!! I was really young when I had my son......and so was he when he had his! Don't make people think I'm over the hill just yet!! I haven't heard anything new about any of the guys either, except that they are in England to start recording. What I really want to know is......were they invited to Stella's wedding? Has anyone heard?

OH Darling, my son's T-shirt is just a black shirt w/LA Cty Coroner seal on the front and a chalk body outline on the back. I thought it was great! The duffle bags w/LA County Coroner on them should get a lot of respect in the airports, don't you think? As for myself, I rated a flashlight/pen and a keychain from there. I bought some other (cheaper) pens and keychains for co-workers. They thought they were cool. My step-grandson loved his keychain. He has it hanging in his truck. Other than a skirt, I mostly bought T-shirts for myself. I collect them and can wear them to work. I'm a very casual sort of person....jeans & T-shirts if at all possible. I spent most of my extra cash on stuff for my grandkids. Funny.........I have a lot of trouble picturing MY grandmother cruising Sunset Strip or checking out Muscle Beach!!! (To say nothing of the Coroner's Office!) But, oh, did I have FUN!!!!!! Can't wait to go back!

RE: Brian Ray Archived
Sorry...got interrupted and lost my train of thought. Some of you can probably relate to that......... The LA County Coroner's Office runs a gift shop called Skeletons in the Closet. Maybe I'm a bit morbid, but I thought it was great. What does one buy there??? Body bags and toe tags! The body bags are garment bags and the toe tags are key chains. They also have hats, shirts, pens, magnets, etc. Great place for picking up inexpensive souvenirs....especially for co-workers! Although, I bought my teenage son a T-shirt there and he now thinks his mom is "a very sick individual." Just think....I grossed out a teenage boy. How many of you can say that?? You can check out their website online. That's how I found it.

I had SUCH a great time I'm saving up for another trip. May take a while, but I plan to return soon! Saw and did all kinds of things, but didn't have time to do it all. Met some great people...made some new friends. I highly recommend Southern California to everyone!

RE: Brian Ray Archived
Hi everybody! I'm back from LA. I am truly IN LOVE......w/Southern California! Had a wonderful time and a couple of amazing experiences. Tried to hit all the high spots everyone told me about, but the beaches and Venice boardwalk captivated me, just as I expected. Didn't make it to the Getty, but that's about all I missed. Even checked out the gift shop at the LA County Coroner's Office........how many of you have ever been there??? Did I miss anything new here?

RE: Brian Ray Archived
YoungGerl, thanks for the tips and the suggestions. I have made note of all of them. Don't think I'll make Disneyland on this trip, although you never can tell about me. My plans can change at a moment's notice. If you have any other ideas, feel free to send them on. I'll probably check the message board until Wednesday night. After that, I'll be headed to L.A.! What's the deal with Roscoe's Waffles & Chicken? We don't usually eat our chicken w/waffles in the south! And, yep, I'm about as Southern as they come. If any of y'all make a trip down this way, we can show you some real Southern hospitality.

RE: Brian Ray Archived
Sorry, OH Darling.......I forgot. I'm going the latter part of next week. I'll be there 11 days.

RE: Brian Ray Archived
OH Darling, the Getty is definitely in my plans. I expect to spend a lot of time on Venice beach. That's probably the place I'll like the best. Kinda wacky, like me. Actually, we figure LaBrea Tarpits to be one of our first stops. Weird, huh? And, don't worry.........my eyes will always be peeled for one of our guys. In a city of how many??? million people, they should be easy to spot, don't you think? Yeah, right........in my dreams. Of course, they don't call me "Dreamseer" for nothing!

RE: Brian Ray Archived
OH Darling, I vote we ALL go to Liverpool next time. I don't know about being ready in a matter of minutes, but it wouldn't take me long. No, this will be my first trip to the west coast. Since it's business as well as vacation, a lot of my time will be taken up. And I've read a lot of the travel guides and have a fairly good idea of what we'll be doing during our spare time. Of course, wherever there is surf, sand, & sun, you can always find me with a smile on my face. I'm not big on shopping, but I love the museums & art galleries. We want to check out some of the hiking trails too. If you have any other suggestions, send them on. I'm always open for new ideas!

RE: Brian Ray Archived
By the way, if any of you are in the L.A. area, I'm going to be out there in about a week on vacation/business. Would like a chance to get the "inside scoop" on places to go & things to do from a "local." If you can help me out, let me know. Thanks!

RE: Brian Ray Archived
Sorry, OH Darling........did I mention how long it took me do my avator??? And I'm supposed to be good at this stuff! JayJay, Liverpool it is! I've been wanting to go there for years and turned down a chance to go earlier this year. (I had spent too much time & money on Back in the US shows!) I'll start saving my pennies as soon as I get back from vacation. We will go to Liverpool!!!!!

RE: Brian Ray Archived
Hey...I have news for all of you. 48 is NOT old! I should know....Been there, Done that! But not too long ago. It's hard to believe that any of these guys are as old as they are. Just watching them on stage wears me out! And Paul does it better than any of the rest of them. At least the other band members get a break during Paul's solo set. He never leaves tthe stage. As for Abe playing w/Barry Manilow.........well, I haven't heard that one before. That is quite a stretch for the old imagination. And don't any of you take off to Liverpool without ME next time! Please???

RE: Brian Ray Archived
OH Darling, I believe that Brian's birthday is Jan. 4th. I don't remember where I read that, though. I know he was with Etta James in '74, so I figure he can't be more than 2 years younger than me, since I graduated in '72. But, I seem to recall that it gave the year he was born as 1955. Wish I could remember where I saw that. I do recall that he stated that his dad was from Oakland. But, that doesn't mean he lived in California. This guy is quite a mystery, it seems!
