Yes, if you are hearing it for the 1rst or even 2nd time, the stories are pretty cool. Paul is not that naive to think everybody at the show has not heard these stories before especially in the youtube world we live in today. Is it that hard for Paul to put a different "spin" on a story he tells about a song?

I have come to grips with him playing most of the same Beatle songs because I get it that these are a big thrill for the majority of the audience. I just get tired of him playing 2nd tier type Beatle songs like "Benefit Of Mr. Kite" or "In Spite Of All Danger" for multiple tours instead of a Beatle song he has never played live.

Totally agree! With all the time off he's had since the 2019 tour ended, you'd think he could have re-learned "I Want To Hold Your Hand" as the opener and dropped the 2 you mentioned for any other John song and maybe blow everyone's minds by doing Rocky Raccoon!

Exactly Nancy. "Rocky Raccoon" is acoustic song that he would not need the band to practice it and it is easy song to sing. The crowd reaction would blow the roof off the arena -lol.  "I Want To Hold Your Hand" is midtempo song that is a little over 2 minutes so not that tough to learn again. The entire band could sing the song with Paul to help with vocals because John and Paul sang the entire song together. See link below from Ed Sullivan show. Imagine the reaction in the arena if he opened with it and the media attention it would have grabbed - oh well.

Why don't the Admins of this forum/website ever read what we constantly write and get the message back to Paul?!

I was a moderator about 14 years ago.  Unfortunately, they have no way to communicate with Paul.

I agree about Rocky Raccoon!!  That would be an absolute blast!!

Not the Moderators, the Administrators. The same people who just posted about the new look of paulmccartney.com and asked for our input.

Sorry, my bad.  Yes, I would hope the Admins have regular communications with Paul.

I still like the idea of Paul doing a "special concert" full of you-never-know-what-you are going get - doing many of his solo songs, Wings songs and Beatle songs that are not performed or rarely done or was part of the sound check now being done. For the fans ( who have to promise not to go to the concession stands *joking) - hopefully captured as a movie DVD/ BluRay type of thing. Big audience, Small l audience - no audience... it would be cool to see. (Like this will ever happen) ... like many critiques - just putting it out there for the fun of it.

That would be fabulous, but I don't see it happening now.  The window for that was about 10-15 years ago.

I agree with the majority of the people posting here.  I am also disappointed that there aren't more changes in the setlist, but at this point, it's just not going to happen.  At 80, it's not that Paul can't do it, but I have learned that he won't do it.  This is his pattern, it's not changing now.  Where I seem to differ with a lot of people is on the newer albums.  I own the CD's and I have listened to them.  They are good, but they aren't the music that Paul will be remembered for by most people.  I don't really care to hear them live in concert.  I would love to hear more from the 80's and 90's though.  I am a long-time, die-hard fan.  I will be seeing Paul for the 30th time this tour.  I fear it may be the last.  I selfishly want him to end on a high note, while he's still thrilling the fans!  I don't want to see him falter.

    • RE: The Rarest Paul Song You Seen/Heard Him Perform Live

Ram On and Big Barn Bed at the Memphis 2013 sound check!!  It was amazing and I always hoped he would add these to his concert set list, but it wasn't meant to be.

Watching the live feed and I'm curious, am I the only one that finds the giant glow sticks annoying? Man, I would hate to be around those things being waved all around and blocking views all night!

I agree!!  I noticed those on the video of "I've Got A Feeling" from Spokane.  Those things need to be banned.  We pay too much for concert tickets to have to put up with crap like that.  I know they were having fun, but there's just no need.

I loved the horn section in 2019 too!  Can anyone who went last night let us know if they were included again this time?

Man, people on this board are crusty. Why can't we just be happy that the man is still alive, well, and putting on shows for us at all? Pretty sad. I was there last night, and thought that, overall, it was a lot of fun.

I have to second the motion. In a prior post I was as critical as anyone of the setlist choices -- Paul's decisions will baffle me as long as I live -- but let's just be thankful that he's about to turn 80 and very much alive and kicking and bringing people joy. We can't begin to imagine what these shows are like for someone who's never seen McCartney before, but someone on Steve Hoffman's board quoted a relative describing it as a literally life-changing experience.

Too true!!  Every time he tours, there are people seeing him for the first time, whether original fans or new fans.  I've never heard anything from them other than.....IT WAS AMAZING!!!!  Paul may not sound like he once did, but he still puts on a fabulous live show and it's a magical experience to be in his presence each time!!

Also, what on Earth  is up with not playing Yesterday anymore???  His most iconic song and every show feels so incomplete and a letdown without it.  And he can still sing it better than many others remaining on the setlist which are a real struggle.  Truly boggles the mind...

Yesterday has been pretty rough on the last couple of tours, but that kind of fits with the meaning of the song.  Maybe I'm Amazed and Here Today have been tough for him, but he kept them in.  I'll never understand.  I was hoping for more change in the set list, but at the same time, I am so excited and thankful that I still get to see him in concert.  Syracuse....can't wait!!!!
