Oh yes he clearly thrives on pissing off all his fans but those in the Americas. You've nailed it and discovered Paul's true goal in life. :
Yep, pretty much! No rolling of eyes necessary in my reply.

Great way to sell records, murder your classics live on Radio. Gee, Graham Norton is gonna be a car crash. Why does this always happen in the UK!?!
Just checked out a couple of clips and that was my thinking exactly! He just doesn't seem to think straight when it comes to his radio/tv appearances in the UK. Any sane person would look at their live repertoire and only include songs in the set list that they can sing. He has further trashed his reputation in his home country. Clearly, he only has regard for the Americas. Yes, yes he is 71 and we can't expect him to still sing like he was 25. I get that. Seems to me he thinks like a 90 year old!!

ok, listened to it a couple of times...not really thrilled, from that similar style I preferred "Fine Line", the "horns" are a nice touch though. George and John's "granny" music, eh? The biggest problem of course is his voice, so hoarse, a tad painful to hear...odd they couldn't make it sound better in the studio? Well I guess they didn't cheat at least.
The song is okay but the production is awful (seems to be a drum machine and synth horns and strings). And his voice isn't good either. No doubt I'm in the minority. Does not bode well for the album in my opinion. Hopefully, I'm wrong.

I've a feeling Australia is next. Say what you want, Moptops. Stop being so miserable. You're not going to get anywhere, and you're just making yourself look like an idiot.
Says the man who lives in a city and country where McCartney tours more than he has tepid, squishy vegetarian dinners! Moptops has access to some very accurate sources and is more of an optimist than you'll ever know. He is devastated and angry this time round as an Australian tour makes more sense off the back of a Japanese tour. His info is McCartney is not going to be touring Australia this year. So once again, Moptops, being the passionate fan that he is, is going to travel overseas to see him perform. You, on the other hand, are more likely to complain about and not travel to Philadelphia see to him! Australia deserves better from Paul. As does Denmark. To cancel and not return another time is quite within his right. Its the lack of respect for his fans and the frankly pitiful PR spin and excuses offered up that offends. Not only does he indulge in the most appalling revisionism of Beatles history he is a complete hypocrite. Did he cancel Madrid? No. Did he forgo playing in NYC immediately after 9/11? No, he played a benefit concert weeks later. Did he reschedule after using a bombing in Bali as an excuse to cancel his Melbourne show? No. Apparently, he felt he couldn't play as it would be an insult to memory of those who died. THAT'S the insult!!
I have it on good authority that moptops is right. "Other commitments" in the UK either side of the Japan tour dates. From an economic point of view Australian tours are piggy backed to Japan tours to reduce costs. If he isn't coming here this time he most likely won't ever. It's all about money.

and proved on the record what a plonker Denny Laine was/is
Correct!! Acted like a tool (probably on something) and couldn't even sing his own songs straight. What an embarrassment! I've always thought he was very lucky to have been plucked from obscurity by Paul.
JimmyMcCullochFan:
Maybe I'm Amazed from Rockshow in stunning video & audio quality. A new audio mix has Paul's vocals more upfront.
The vocal is too loud for my liking and sounds a little thin. Might just be the quality of the You Tube clip though.
Yes, I know what you mean. Not sure exactly when I started noticing but it was certainly after Linda's passing.
There's a difference between working for a living and someone with a billion dollars in the bank. McCartney doesn't need to work for a living, he chooses to and he engages in producing an art form. Of course he should expect to be remunerated for doing so. That's not my point. To continually say he wants to play places that he hasn't before and then consciously decide to always play to the Americas smacks of doing so for money and/or pandering to his ego. Ergo, he's sold out to the almighty dollar. His choice of course but that doesn't mean we all have to agree with it. Sorry to reply to your post, contrary to your instructions but you did ask me a question.
Yes he has sold out.........to the almighty dollar!

The show is still a few months away. I'm thinking/hoping it's a bit too far away to go cancelling it.
Provided ticket sales are strong he won't cancel the show. If not and he decides to cancel, he'll have an excuse to use (as he did here).
Senseless act. My best wishes go to the people of Boston and those directly affected. However, does this mean a "postponement" or cancellation of the upcoming show? Surely Paul wouldn't think of such a thing. Oh wait a minute. That's what he did in 2002. He didn't think it would be wise to be seen having fun after the bombing in Bali killed over 80 Australians. Hypocrite!
He's only in it for the money nowadays so he'll never play Horsens.

The thread seems to have taken a strange turn.
Why should that surprise you (even "mock" surprise you)? You're one of the main culprits when it comes to hijacking a sensible thread discussion and taking it off into some rubbish direction about his fashion sense or posting some sexual innuendo. You and a lot of others should try staying on topic for a change. This forum has gone downhill quite markedly in the last 12 months.

Hopefully he rattles off the same tired setlist.
Of course he will. The man has lost all his adventurous spirit in the live setting and is incapable of changing it up. Perhaps the tour should be called "On The Nose"!
Huge slap in the face to Horsens/Denmark. He won't care, there are too many richer areas to plunder...
I will enjoy seeing Ringo on the weekend, although knowing it will be the last time I see a Beatle on stage here will make it bittersweet.

I have just read that the name of the new tour will be announced later this month. It makes sense to do that, and then announce the South American tour dates in March.
How about the "Keep Coming Back To The Same Places" tour or the "See How I Refuse To Tour Australia" tour?
Ane:
I understand the disappointment about the cancelled Australia gigs ten years ago, but I don't get why Ringo is praised to the heavens at Paul's expensive like this. Paul HAS toured Australia twice in the past while Ringo ignored the country for almost 50 years and is just now doing his first solo tour there. It's only in the past couple of years that Ringo has genuinely made an effort to tour outside North America while Paul has been doing it since the early 70's. He's played London every Christmas for the past three years but now he's a bad guy for not playing locally this Christmas too? Sorry, but it sounds a bit dramatic to me.
I don't think you do understand the cancelled gig here. Every major act on the planet has come to Australia at some point in the last ten years yet Paul somehow can't or won't. Yes there are many other places deserving of a show but he CANCELLED here, gave some crap excuse and hasn't made good on a return when his press release said he would. All lies and balderdash I say!
Surprise, surprise!! Yet another tour of the States. Why hasn't he rescheduled his cancelled Denmark shows? Looks like they'll be waiting for as long as we are. Stuff him!!
