If you want to be a moderator, I would say that you have to be quite bright, have a pleasant, helpful demeanour, have your feet on the ground, steer clear of arguments on the board and be a fairly regular poster. Once you have proved your character, the team may approach you if they need additional help or if somebody decides to step down. I've known them to advertise in the past, but it hasn't always worked that way. Tough job, though.

"Fanfare" by Jonathan Wilson. It's rather wonderful.
May I say I love your screen name!
Thank you! It has been my "alter-ego" for some time now.

What happened to the old account? Can't remember password? Glad to see you here.
I had it deactivated by the mod/admin team a few years ago when I started up another, anonymous, account. That anonymous one has been deactivated too now. I considered asking the powers that be for my old username back, but decided that a fresh start with a fresh account would be appropriate. Besides, I noticed that my old account's post count was literally a few posts below BEATNUT's. As a very low key tribute to Mike, I decided that he should keep his place above mine on the list of all-time posters. I can't, for a second, imagine that I will post half as much on this new account that I will trouble the all-time posters list.

ps.I struggled to find this thread for a few minutes, because I was looking for it in "The Broadcast". Shouldn't it be there?
Bit of a toss up really, we're usually loathe to move into Broadcast as that forum is regularly trimmed to keep the threads topical - while this is that at the moment the show and discussion is shaping up to be a keeper - esp if the US might not see it so immediately. Could even slip into Rock Show as it relates to live performances... Martin
Sounds logical. At least I know where it is now! Looking forward to the full length version on Friday. I agree with Jock, Jools' piano solo on "Get Back" was sensational and arguably better than the late, great Billy Preston's original performance.

Yes, it's a strange way it's done, but Tuesday's show is completely live, so it's not exactly a "highlights" show. Friday's contains additional material, also recorded on Tuesday but not performed live.
It used to be live, but since the move from tv centre it isn't - notice the way we all knew the set list on monday?! It's broadcast as if live, in one continuous thing, but was all filmed on monday.
Really? That's disappointing. Why on earth couldn't they have kept the live format?

RE: Concerts.
I have The Electric Soft Parade tonight in Shepherds Bush. Their new album, "Idiots", is absolutely wonderful. On Saturday, I'm seeing The Boomtown Rats at the Camden Roundhouse.

Just remember last night's show is a teaser for the full show on Friday night. Friday 25th October, BBC2 at 23.05 http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b03fsvyz Tuesday's episode was 30.06 minutes Friday night's is 65 minutes long with additional performances from all artists. Only show I know that shows the highlights before the main broadcast. Martin
Yes, it's a strange way it's done, but Tuesday's show is completely live, so it's not exactly a "highlights" show. Friday's contains additional material, also recorded on Tuesday but not performed live. I'd be interested to know how it's sequenced, whether the live show is recorded first and then the additional material recorded afterwards, or whether the live show is recorded at the end of the sessions... or perhaps in the middle? You have to be very lucky to get tickets for the recording. I've been trying for years. Of course, it's a lottery as to who is performing if you are lucky enough to get tickets. You'd hit the jackpot if Paul was on there, but you may end up with a less than impressive week. ps.I struggled to find this thread for a few minutes, because I was looking for it in "The Broadcast". Shouldn't it be there?

RE: Billy Joel Concerts
I'm also off to the Hammersmith Apollo on November 5th. I did have fairly good seats, but my bank chose that day to make "random security checks" and put a block on my bank cards, until I called them and verified who I was and what I was buying. By the time I sorted it out, it had been sold out... but persistent me kept on refreshing the "sold out"page until there was the odd ticket available and managed to get two (I'm taking my Mum), but a few rows apart. The good thing about Hammersmith is that there's not really any such thing as a bad seat. I saw Elvis Costello there when I was seated right at the back, and it was still a great gig. I've only ever seen Billy once, back in 1994, during the River Of Dreams tour, at the Birmingham NEC. It still remains, to this day, one of the greatest concerts I've ever been to - he played for around three hours. He's a legend and one of my very favourite artists. Of course, Paul appearing as a special guest would be incredible, but I'd be happy with it just being Billy.

RE: Scared : could have been another classic
One thing I really love about the track is, towards the end, there's a muted double beat of the bass drum at the start of each phrase... almost like a heartbeat. It really adds to the tension and emotion of the song. It's an incredible piece.

RE: 10 Years!!! (This site)
I first posted on this site in March 2004 (using my original JeffLynnesBeard handle, of course), but this was the first place on the internet that I felt was really worth coming to time and time again. I only stayed, posting regularly, for a couple of years, but what a great couple of years they were. I have made lifelong friends on this board, some of whom still come here, others who don't. I learned a lot about people, that's for sure! It's great that this place has survived for 11 years now, long may it prosper and continue to gain new, enthusiastic Macca fans. Cheers to you all.

RE: "New" Reviews
Hi BJ, Thanks for reading and for your thoughts on the album - Back To The Egg is one of my personal favourites too, but it wasn't a critical success at the time, unfortunately, so I think that remains a bit of a fans favourite. Definitely give "Scared" a little more time, because it it's so beautifully vulnerable and gorgeously performed. Very understated as well, which makes it all the more powerful, to my ears. "Everybody Out There" has grown on me, even since I wrote the review a few days ago. I'm still not sold on the lyrics, but it won't leave my head at the moment, so I've probably underrated that one. In the end, it's all personal opinion, but I'm chuffed that you've enjoyed mine. All the best!

Hope they have Jool's Holland on a recording, I'm going to a concert Tuesday and will miss it I've just had a listen to the whole album on a proper stereo! WOW now I have to get headphones! It sounded sooooooooooo good. Have been singing and dancing to them all day! Yay Paul! I am really into Road and Appreciate at the mo... I really love them all however
An extended version of the show, with additional material, is shown on Friday night - so good things really do come to those who wait!

RE: Should I get Live at the BBC?
Absolutely, but don't be disappointed if everything isn't quite as high standard as you're used to. I'm looking forward to hearing Volume Two, but my expectations aren't that high, so I'm hoping to be pleasantly surprised!

RE: I'm "New"! Almost!
Thank you both. Thankfully the resizing of my avatar now seems to have worked! Not sure why there was some time-lapse, though.

RE: "APPRECIATE" NEEDS TO BE A SINGLE! IT WOULD GET
I think it's a fantastic song, but am not overly sure whether it'd be successful as a single.

I always watch Jools, but will particularly look forward to this week.
