But as far as his voice, it's not 1969 or 1976 anymore...so what? Still sounds very good...while some of his vocals are what I've come to expect these days, there are other points where he seems to recapture a biit of what I thought he had lost. Anyway, I'll keep tracking along with this album and update my thoughts as pieces and bits sink in

First, before I add to my comments above - the word in bold is supposed to be 'absorbing', but it seems I can no longer edit the post...

But anyway, add Dominos and Despite Repeated Warnings to the songs I'm stuck on...and speaking of the latter, while that song overall sounds nothing like 'Gratitute' from MAF, he stole a bass line from that song (maybe second verse of Despite Repeated Warnings???)  and it put my right back there for that momentary bass line...LOL

      What's this about?

Edit to add - I read the description and it seems like its all Paul (plus Abe on Drums) while the Hollywood Vampires simply ride the coat tails

This was for the Johnny Depp band and recording of The Hollywood Vampires recording "Come and Get It" a possible Beatles song composed by McCartney, but became a hit for a new Apple band called Badfinger. You can buy the soundtrack on iTunes and other music suppliers McCartney original demo meant for The Beatles:

      Badfinger:

Thanks a lot - definitely familiar with the 1969 Paul demo/Badfinger versions. Had no idea about this Hollywood Vampires thing though...Cool deal

Btw, another passing of note (couple of days after the fact) - David Cassidy. As you can see in the video below, he once covered what could be considered an obscure (by the less avid Paul/Wings fans) Wings song - of course we know it:

I'm sorry to hear about your father, Veggie. VB? Can we call you Ralph? It sounds strange to refer to someone as a veggieburgher. Either way, 93. We should all live so long. The things he must have seen.

x2 - I'm glad he enjoyed a long life. But it doesn't make it easier when it ends. My thoughts and prayers to you and your family

Here's a song she sang (before Paul McCartney/the Beatles did a few years later)

It's funny you say that...in honor of anniversary, I present a video I've never seen before (actually I've seen the video within the video - just not Paul documenting the song)...in fact, at first, I thought it was someone 'punking' Paul before I released it was Paul himself....LOL...

LOL...someone asked (in that periscope) "Can someone tell me how many more songs till Let It Be"? What??? : Thanks for the scope link BTW.

I don't think in all my years of seeing Paul live in concert there's been one where a guy doesn't yell 'SING LET IT BE!!!' before every song (even after he already sang it)...I used to jokingly think it was the same guy at all those shows...LOL

    • So Bad on the radio....as an oldie

I though there was a thread covering 'unusual' Paul songs played on the radio - unusual in that they either no longer common on the radio, even as an oldie...or never was a hit to begin with and not generally considered a common album cut...but alas, a search of the forum was all for not. Anyway, my daughter is home from school for several weeks (we live near Boston, MA and she goes to school in the UK) and we took a little mini vacation down to cape cod...we found a station (99.1) that plays a pretty good mix of old and fairly new (not sure I'd say current)...yesterday, we were out in Chatham and out of nowhere, they play Paul's 'So Bad' (it was somewhere in the 12PM to 1PM time frame and followed Dolly Parton's Here You Come Again)....I was actually floored (pleasantly so) by this song choice...I had already been impressed enough the day before, when they played With a Little Luck, which was once popular on the oldie circuit, but not so much any more (although the level to which I was impressed was diminished a bit when it turned out to be the shortened 'DJ Edit' version) So Bad was a modest hit back in 1983/84 (Pipes of Peace was released in 83, but given that So Bad was a follow up single released well after the fact behind Say Say Say, it may have been 84???)....but since that year, the only time I've heard this song played on air was during certain Paul McCartney radio specials, where they would play a number of songs you normally wouldn't hear on the radio...In fact, I think I only heard it a couple of times even during it's run on the charts So I'll ask you, excluding what you might have heard during various Paul McCartney radio specials, has anyone else ever heard this song played on the radio - once it segued into 'oldie' status?

24/25 ? Scored 96% Result: I Wanna Hold Your Hand I didn't know the NYPD one and guessed on Grammys, #1 songs and the video game.

I got the NYPD question based on an educated guess, after recalling a scene from the live 2002 video (Back in the US)...I thpught it was just fun and games on the part of Paul, but evidently the creator of this quiz thought it was genuine (maybe it was???) But regardless, I got 22/25...however, one of the answers I got wrong was due to not reading the entire thing. It was the lead guitar question...I saw 'Taxman' and jumped on that before I read the rest of them (answer was all of the above and I knew that after I read the other song titles)...on the flip side, I got one correct that I had zero clue and completely guessed at it (the Lord of the Rings question)...so I guess I broke out even on that...LOL I retook it and got 100%...

I guessed the NYPD one because of the 9/11 concert thing. What was in Back in the U.S.? I forget. I also jumped on Taxman. Didn't know he played lead on the other 2. As a matter of fact a book I have says George did on Sgt. Pepper. What was the other song? It wasn't Good Morning, Good Morning or I would have said "all of the above." By process of elimination, I narrowed it down to Sam or Frodo, but guessed wrong!

I cannot imagine what the parents of these kids are going through. I am now 61, soon to turn 62. Glad I grew up in a simpler time when there was no terrorism. I was about the same age as these kids were (1o/11) back in 1966 when I managed to see The Beatles here in concert. It is just so senseless to target defenseless children attending a concert.

A particularly story I heard today that was hard to hear involved a mom who was injured during the attack and is currently being treated at a hospital...and unaware that her 8 year old daughter was killed in the attack (I believe the mom was still unconscious)
