But is this our Brian Ray or is this the "other" Brian Ray?

RE: Brian Ray Archived
I heard that Abe suggested Brian for the tour as well. As for translation, go to http://babelfish.altavista.digital.com , where you can translate a whole webpage by putting its URL in the box (and select what language you want to translate to and from). UBL.com is a great site to see what people have played on and who they have played with...

RE: Rusty
Wow, how strange...I was just looking up what Ednaswap's band members are doing now on UBL.com (Rusty was in Ednaswap in the mid 90s), and I looked up Paul Bushnell (the bassist)'s credits. He played on Shakira's "Laundry Service" album, which Abe and Brian also played on! Abe brought Brian into Paul's tour because he knew him from Shakira's album (or possibly earlier than that)! I never realized how connected the music industry is...it's just like that "Six Degrees of Separation" game! AMAZING!

This one... The swan is gliding above the ocean, A god is riding upon his back, How calm the water and bright the rainbow Fade this one to black. *Grin*
Yeah, that's the picture...if it really was taken 19 years ago, I would have been 4.

I'm not sure I like this new board...all of you have been posting and I haven't been notified of new posts to the thread! What an old picture of Brian! Wow, I was (dare I say it) 4 when this picture was taken! You know, I've lived in the LA area (Orange County, near Disneyland) all my life, and I've never been to the Getty! Dreamseer, don't go swimming in the Santa Monica or Venice beaches - I've heard that they're *really* polluted (it was on the news). On Sunday mornings, you can listen to Breakfast with the Beatles, from 8 am to 1 pm on 97.1 FM (KLSX). It's hosted by Chris Carter - yes, the Chris Carter that's in the Back in the US DVD! Are you planning to come down my way and go to Disneyland/California Adventure? Oh, make sure you drive by the Henson studios, just south of Sunset & La Brea...that's where Paul recorded Driving Rain. Oh, and if you're brave, you can go to Roscoe's Chicken & Waffles, which is...oh wait you're from the South, so it probably won't be anything new to you. Hmm...I'm sure there's more to do, likes stars' homes and the walk of fame and stuff like that. You might enjoy taking the LA subway. It's new and pretty and clean. Oh, as for art galleries, there's also LACMA (Los Angeles County Museum of Art) and MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art) and somewhere there's a Museum of Neon Art (MONA, apparently). Oh yeah and you can go to the Capitol Records building at Hollywood and Vine...Paramount Pictures on Melrose where Paul's PETA gala was in 1999, the House of Blues on Sunset Strip where Paul had his Run Devil Run listening party (and I was there!)...etc etc and so forth. Sorry, that's probably too much information.

I take care of his own PR.
She's the Geoff Baker of Rusty! Just kidding, just kidding...Corinne is much nicer and much less scruffy than Geoff. (Hides under the table in case Geoff is lurking)

BeatlesMusicG@l:
Corinne, are you the webmaster of Rusty's site? If so, just what is that thing on the main page? It's caused much speculation here.
I was wondering that too, until I read the Q&A section on the website... he talks about it there. Ooops, I guess Corinne beat me to it.

Dreamseer:
I do recall that he stated that his dad was from Oakland. But, that doesn't mean he lived in California.
Oh good - so I'm not totally losing it. True, it doesn't mean that Brian is Californian...but at least this convoluted young brain of mine isn't making things up. That's always a good thing. Amazing...to go play with Etta James just after you graduate from high school! That's like Abe being asked go on tour with Barry Manilow (I think that's who it was) after he graduated from high school! I can't believe Brian is 48...he doesn't seem that old!

OH! Darling:
Where is he from? I've read either Colorado or Illinois.
I have this vague memory that during one of the Driving USA shows (Oakland or San Jose), he said that his family was multi-generation Californian...does this ring any bells for anyone else? If anyone is brave enough to look, it might be buried somewhere on Jorie's first-leg tour page... Oh, and I think there's more info on Brian from one of the concert programmes - each band member talks about their favorite driving songs, what kind of car they drive (I think Brian said a Lexus of some sort - Abe drives a Ford Bronco and Rusty drives an old...Firebird? I think whatever's on his website), etc.

RE: Brian Ray Archived
Sadly, they're not my pictures to share, otherwise I would happily show them to people (and then there's that little matter of needing a scanner ). They're pictures of my friends with Wix & Rusty, and my friends with Brian. They just sent me copies of the pictures after I bugged them incessantly for them. In fact, they still owe me a picture of their new MINI... Well if Brian's guitar pick is priceless, why hasn't anyone bid on it? Only 7 hours left and it's still at the starting bid of $5! Makes me want to bid on it myself! *Grin* Sharon

*Grin* It was at the Four Seasons hotel in Seattle on October 19, just after I met and got Heather's autograph at the Bon Marche and just before the Tacoma Dome show. It was a great day. *Grin* My friends got some great pictures with Brian and with Rusty and Wix. The guys were checking out of the hotel, because they were leaving for...Sacramento? that night after the show. Paul snuck out through the basement, but we did see his limo leaving...unfortunately he didn't roll down his windows except for a minute when they were stopped at the light...sadly I was on the wrong side of the car. Great link, Oh Darling!

Here's a link to UBL's list of what Brian has worked on: http://ubl.artistdirect.com/music/artist/appears/0,,483232,00.html I noticed that he co-wrote most of the songs on the self-titled album by "Farmer Not So John", and he does vocals on it too... http://ubl.artistdirect.com/store/artist/album/0,,242840-568853,00.html (He also does vocals and bass on their second album, apparently, called "Receiver.")

Personally, Abe is my favorite, but Brian is cool too. I was lucky enough to meet Abe and Brian (and saw Rusty and Wix nearby, but I was too shy to go talk to them), and both were really nice. I remember that Brian personally shook hands with everyone in the group (about 8 people or so), and actually *introduced* himself as Brian as he shook each of our hands! That really amused me. I've checked www.UBL.com a few times to see his credits, and he is on a *lot* of albums! I know that he played on one of Shakira's albums with Abe - and I think that's where they got to know each other - so you can thank Abe for getting Brian on the tour. I believe Brian has been on a few Etta James CDs as well. Abe and Brian (and Wix too, I suppose) really need websites...
