I don't recall ever admitting that i don't listen to Paul's music anymore. I actually do still listen to his music occasionally......time permitting. I'm definately into other artists though. I think its totally unhealthy just to listen to a few select artists to the exclusion of thousands of other artists who also make great music. I've certainly never loved Paul. I enjoy his music and admire the guys natural musical talent but thats it. .....and finally, kestrel is a he, not a she ....at least i was a he when i last looked.

For me the nice thing about that list is that they're all long-term favourites. They are albums that i have heard many times over many years and yet i never tire of them. Each time i play them the music still feels fresh.

It's yer avatar you know, people think it's you or represents you. Never loved Paul? Then what are you doing here? He's not just a natural musical talent. He's a frickin' musical genius and a living legend. And he's got a Gershwin Award to prove it.

Well yeah, it could be me ......if i knocked 10 years off my age, 10 inches off my height, changed my sex and changed my nationality. I'll think about that for the new year.

I'm here because i can seemingly do what you are incapable of doing and thats seperating the work from the person creating the work. And its the work that matters.

I can see both points here, but it does seem slightly strange to be a regular poster here if you're not really into Paul's music. I do agree about having an eclectic body of music to listen too, being a blinkered music fan is an unhealthy thing in my mind. The way some Bob Dylan fans talk, you'd think he was the only worthwhile songwriter around.

Actually I am quite capable of separating the work from the person. I love the person for his greatness. I don't love every song or piece of music he's ever done. But you are totally wrong. It's the person that matters.

Top of my head choices... Beatles - White Album Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon Beatles - Abbey Road Led Zeppelin IV The Who - Who's Next U2 - No Line on the Horizon Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here The Who - Quadrophenia Bob Marley and the Wailers - Exodus
-
Ram - Paul & Linda McCartney Quadrophenia - The Who Abbey Road - The Beatles Achtung Baby - U2 Get Your Wings - Aerosmith This Year's Model - Elvis Costello Flaming Pie - Paul McCartney The White Album - The Beatles Who's Next - The Who Zooropa - U2 I just discovered Elvis Costello a few days, and to start my collection I bought The First 10 Years greatest hits. And after listening to it a few times I love it and want more. Looking to buy his first 2 albums and hopefully they make it into my top 10. I think they will. Might start an Elvis Costello thread if there is not one already. EDIT: Took out Tommy and put Zooropa at #10 and This Year's Model in at #6. Zooropa is seriously good, underrated, and This Year's Model is just plain out killer.

Another great EC album is Imperial Bedroom, which is produced by Geoff Emerick the famous Beatle engineer.
