An awesome telegram is back from the past...

walliebaby:
I think Paul is very careful with journalists, and has in the past (maybe still?) given them a set of questions they're allowed to ask, and a set of topics they're not allowed to ask about.
I know it won't be easy to get answers unless Paul decides to speak himself...
walliebaby:
I'm wondering though, since this telegram is not new, why no one has picked up on this before...
In 2005 the telegram was in Hard Rock Cafe Key West (Florida). I do not know yet where it was before and when they got it exactly. If you see it and if you're not a Hendrix fan or Beatles fan or a rock specialist, you won't care. But you also need to have music connections to send the news to press or fan club, etc. Yes, it's strange, no one noticed it before...But I think you do really need to be a crazy Hendrix fan to feel the's something great in this telegram !!! Now even Hard Rock Cafe seems concerned as I understood... YM

So it's been around long enough that some industrious music journalist should have picked up on it. I'm sure it will come up eventually, probably around the time of Paul's next rock music album, or a Hendrix re-release. PR teams are no dummies, and this story is bound to attract some attention for Paul and Jimi. Just look at the attention Keith Richards' biography got when the story about the Paul/Keith song got out.

NOW would be perfect timing as Paul just released a Jazz album...and this year we'll celebrate Jimi 70th birthday (next november). Hard Rock Cafe is also celebrating Jimi this year. They just launched the brand's Hendrix Signature Series with a special T-shirt, collector pins, etc ! YM

I'm wondering, then, if the Hard Rock will have a hand in bringing it up to journalists? It's certainly a real find, and I can't imagine they wouldn't publicize it.
-
For now I'm the one who try to publicize it ! ! I already informed the French media and others. Let' s wait to see what will do the Hard Rock Cafe. It's quite too early right now. YM

Would be interesting to hear a Hendrix/McCartney-song, unfortunately it never happend.

I wonder...what if it did? Wouldn't that be an amazing addition to a bootleg?

Well, ask and you shall receive. Here is a link to an article about Paul's brother Mike's album being re-released, and guess who guest performed on it? Paul McCartney and Jimi Hendrix, among others. That isn't to say they played together, but we're getting closer : http://www.examiner.com/beatles-in-national/mccartney-hendrix-rarity-mcgough-mcgear-album-coming-on-cd

Jimi played the lead guitar on the two songs "So Much" and "Ex Art Student" but I'm really not sure Paul played on the album... On the now deleted book "Jimi Hendrix - Electric Gypsy" by Caesar Glebbeek & Harry Shapiro, it said Jimi played toy drums (!) on one other song "Oh To Be A Child" aka "Toy Symphony" (composed by Joseph Haydn) not released on the LP/CD. Mike McGear said in his biography he remembers seeing "Jimi 'Wild Man' Hendrix walking up and down the corridors banging toy instruments like big soft kids". This reissue is an excellent news indeed ! Thank you Walliebaby ! YM

Yeah, they didn't play together, like I said, but at least they appeared on the same album. We're getting closer! I'm trying to figure out which songs Paul played on right now. Anyone out there know?

It's funny 'cos it seems we're the only two guys to talk on this amazing post !!! I do not have the McCough & McGear album, I know Paul produced it but I find nowhere that he played on it. YM
-
If this is legit, it would be amazing! Too bad it never happened.

Can you imagine if this had actually gone through? Wow!
-
oh man! this would have been AWSOME for Paul to have had soo much fun on! October of 1969, on Holiday? with Linda somewhere! they both would have loved to have been their! you better believe it! wish that they had notifyed Paul of the Invite Dang!
-
And Linda already knew Jimi from her photography work, and she also liked him quite a bit musically and personally, so you can imagine the two would have jumped at the chance to head to Jimi's recording session. Missed chances...
-
Perhaps Yoko intercepted the telegraph & kept it from Paul. A precursor for things to come...
