I'm finally getting my REAL deluxe version from my parents this weekend. Damn you, Target and all big box stores!
did you find the deluxe version difficult to get where you are?
There isn't a Target store within an hour and a half's drive of me, so yes. I could have ordered from Paul's site, but at the time Amazon had the "deluxe" version listed at a cheaper price. We all know how that turned out. :
I got my Deluxe version on ebay and went to record shop for the ordinary version, if i had known you had to wait so long I would have jumped on my chariot and delivered the deluxe version personally to you my lurve
Thank you, my lurve. I didn't want to bother you, but next time, I'll have you polish the chariot and head over the pond to me.

So Macca is number 1 and number 4 on the jazz chart this week with the live album at number 4...how many copies do you have to sell to get on that chart? It must be about 10 because I haven't heard of anyone buying the live album!!

3,000 downloads, apparently. Not the showing I was expecting...I figured with 140,000-ish sales of the CD in its first week, the live version might do a bit better...

Paul Mc. is still plenty handsome and cute and has a good enough voice to really pack 'em in, obviously, and to record. That aura of legendary musician status hovering over him glowing really augments his best qualities to the max, and beyond to the extent that issuing a standards album hasn't really hurt his rep, among most fans and has even increased his standing in the eyes of some music lovers and reviewers, discerning listeners and critics and other musicians such as Quincy Jones, who know much more about that kind of music than I, so I defer to their superior knowledge

Just because someone has a greater knowlege of something then I, doesn't mean I have to defer to them and what they know in selecting my taste in anything. I hate a lot of current clothing styles in fashion and still won't wear them. there's a lot of art I don't like. Just because other people might know more about these things doesn't mean I have to like them. That being said, I really am enjoying KOTB and am glad it's topping various charts (though the itunes concert...that's another story) and getting Paul airplay in circles I normally don't hear him. I love old Jazz standards and had no one to share that with after my friend Charlie died. (We used to go to jazz shows and festivals together).

Are all the KOTB songs really "jazz" songs, I didn't think so. I thought of many of them as popular songs from "The Great American Songbook" but keep reading they're "jazz" music.
I'm not sure, either. The album has charted on the Jazz charts, though, so I guess that lends some credence to the Jazz idea...

And Diana Krall and band are "jazz" and played the music for Paul's vocals on KOTB. Imparting a jazz flavor

Sadly, KOTB was only number 27 at HMVwhen I bought it, but it was higher up the charts than 'Rizzle Kicks' (Who I despise but my little sister adores) so for that I am happy. can't stop listening to it! (that guitarist should be lefthanded... )

In it's 5th week on The United World Chart # 33 , KOTB sells a further 31.000 this week , it's total global sales after five weeks of release are now 400.000 .

just to put that into perspective. as of around 5 years ago paul mccartney as a solo act [including wings] had shifted around 103 million albums in total global sales. with the beatles around 3 times that number [330 million]
-
We can't expect an artist with dozens of albums to produce multi-platinum sellers with every release.

His sales are well down on his past studio albums . But so to are most artists , only Adele and one or two other artists are selling in healthy numbers globally today . This album is going to sell around 500.000 globally , which is maybe right for this kind of album . I'm not sure if Paul can sell a million globally in today's climate , even if his next album is brilliant . His global sales are a shadow of what they once were , maybe only a Greatest Hits album in future will sell really well globally ?

I know that I should know this: How did this latest re-issue of Band On The Run do?

Lazy was only stating some facts!! I'm surprised he wasn't told off for not having any multi-platinum albums the way I was for not having any No1 singles, maybe we shouldn't comment on anything regarding music since our opinions are tarnished because of our lack of chart success. One things for sure, CD sales are on the wane the world over but surely the demise of these sales are balanced out by digital downloads etc?? I take it digital downloads are counted alongside CD sales when the final figures are totted up? As for KOTB, its done as well as many of us expected, it entered most of the major charts in a reasonable position and on a whole gave Paul a nice little earner. Its not been the massive No1 in the US as many of our American cousins predicted it would be, Paul's more recent albums Chaos, Memory and E A imo are much better than KOTB yet these 3 classics also failed to reach the top spot, E A can be excused for not doing better because of lack of promotion and in some aspects Paul hiding under his Fireman guise. As Sir Guy Grand mentioned, Paul could release another classic but it wouldn't have people outside the Macca Legions buying it, those days are long gone, not only for Paul but for many of the other big hitters to. This fan club/board only makes up a small proportion of McCartney's worldwide fan base, I would guess many members still buy Paul's records, i'm surprised tho at the amount of older fans who continue to say they haven't heard this or that from Paul's unique back catalogue. (speech time) Lets all dig deep and spread the word in order the great one gets at least one more No1 album before he decides to call it a day, how fitting would it be if the new rock/pop album got to No1 50 years after the release of "Love Me Do" Amen

Considering that I had zero enthusiasm for this project when it was first announced, I'm impressed with both its commercial and critical regard. Paul has done something he can be proud of. Now, on to the new tour, a big birthday concert, a trailblazing rock album...and more concerts! Hey, he's only 70.

From the latest From Whom The Bell Tolls at Paul's main site: "Paul smashed the US Billboard Jazz Chart hitting the Number One spot as well as reaching Number Five in the US Billboard 200. In the UK, Paul hit his highest album chart position in 15 years landing in the Top Three as well as securing Top Five positions all over the world, all the more remarkable given the fact that Paul didn't embark on an international promo tour around the release as other artists usually do. It's safe to say, in fact, that [KOTB] is a bona-fide smash." http://www.paulmccartney.com/web/guest/for-whom-the-bell-tells/-/blogs/for-whom-the-bell-tells-issue-18?_33_redirect=%2fweb%2fguest%2fhome&#p_33#top

Not exactly an unbiased source, mind you, but impressive nonetheless.
