im not sure about the who full stop. roger daltry is a terrible singer these days and has been for some time. i used to quite like pete townsend but after his dabble with child porn im not so sure i can be bothered with him anymore...the whole thing was very disturbing. the cool bass player[john enwistle] died a couple of years ago whilst the cool drummer [keith moon] died decades ago. not alot left really
Do you really think that Pete is into child porn? I really doubt that.
i dont. i think he was caught red handed and got away with a caution. he spun some yarn about he was just policing the net to look for pedos himself...aye right pete, thats why you handed over your credit card details on more than one occasion. wacko jacko fans take enough stick for their heros lame unbelievable excuses so its only fair that 'townsend' gets stick too. he was a lucky boy to escape jail...

audi you wrote.. "There would be no Bono without Dylan. There would be no John Lennon as we knew him to be. And on and on." does not sound too bad for me....if it means no fucking bono i would happily wipe away any memory of dylan
-
But you gotta' admit, LazyD: Bono is an exceptional lyricist. Have you read the lyrics to "When Love Comes To Town," the song U2 recorded with B.B. King in 1988? There are countless other examples.

Quadrophenia is not my favorite Who-album, but I would love to see The Who live so I would do it (esp. if they play some of their greatest hits after that). And I hope the Stones will come on 50th anniversary-tour, too. And I'd go to see Dylan live, don't care if his voice is a mess, it's still Mr. Robert Zimmerman, one of the few livin' legends (like Paul, Who and Stones).
...using the term legend a bit loosely there...eh?
He is a legend. Here's what he brought to the table: When he went electric, he single-handedly put the world on notice that rock music can have conscious lyrics. Prior to that, only folk music had been the leading "voice" of the youth movement. Nobody was doing it before him. For the record: I'm not a fan, but I acknowledge and respect Bob Dylan. There would be no Bono without Dylan. There would be no John Lennon as we knew him to be. And on and on.

My point stands.

What? Don't you agree that Paul McCartney, The Who, The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan are legends in music history? If not, who else is? Justin Bieber?
Paul McCartney and The Who fit the bill.
If you doubt that Bob Dylan and the RS are legends, well, then you don't know much about music. You don't have to like them, but denying that both artists are famous and legends is crazy. I don't like the Beach Boys so much either, but I admit that they are one of the most famous music acts ever.

I know that story and I believe what Pete said. I just refuse to believe that such a great musician and songwriter has such a disgusting preference. I don't think he's capable of doing something like that. Call me a Pete-fanboy or so, but I just don't believe it. Maybe it's the same with Jacko-fans and I'm not better in that case then they are with Jackson, but I believe that Pete only wanted to take a look or something. Which is not good, but still something else then to get actually turned on by child porn.

I did not doubt that they were famous. For goodness sake...Bob Dylan and the stones are hardly livin' I'm not wasting anymore time with someone who thinks Herc's photo is worthy of being in a signature. *** So WHO is gonna catch this tour?!?
-
Oh okay, now you don't have arguments anymore and instead of saying something about the topic you say something to insult me, which hasn't anything to do with it. : But alright, I don't wastin' time anymore with someone who hasn't a clue about good music.

With all due respect for my buddy WixRocks!: You've nailed it.

Audi- I think the word legendary loses its meaning when used so carelessly. That was my dissagreement dance-totight. No one, not even Paul, can be a contender for legendary stature, until they are dead, gone, and people still question their ever existing. My point is... Paul McCartney, will be the Paul Bunyan of tomorrow. The Rolling Stones...will be a pile of dust.
-
Okay, I didn't want to reply, but you still talk rubbish. Or we have different opinions on what a legend is. At first, to me a legend is someone who made great things. So a legend can be alive (like Paul) and still be a legend. And I don't use it carelessly, I use it for only a few artists, but all of them are definitely legends in my opinion. And the RS will always be remembered and not be a pile in the dust, maybe only in your world.

"Legend," like many terms, has become diluted in meaning. So, if you're speaking in the foremost meaning of the word, you are correct. But "legend" has also become an acceptable term for many "greats" of their respective artforms, etc. To me, Elvis is a legend. And anyone who disagrees is a big, fat doodie-head.

Yes it seems that way, so let's agree to disagree on this topic.

The Rolling Stones are definitely LEGENDS, they will be remembered as one of the 'greats' alongside Paul. I'm sure even now The Stones are more popular than Paul, especially with their 50th. Edit: whoops this thread is about the who, I would love to see them.
