Bad movies
-
After recently watching the film It (1990; based on the novel by Stephen King) with some friends, I was inspired to create this thread... : So, assuming there isn't already a thread out there with this same premise, I would like this to be a thread where we can share experiences about watching bad movies. When I say "bad," I use the term loosely and leave it to all of you to interpret the degree (i.e. comically bad). I know that there is a long list of films out there that fit this category, so feel free to contribute as many titles and experiences as you like... ~~~ I'll start off by giving my watered-down impressions of the film It: To begin, let me say that I am a fan of both Tim Curry and Stephen King, so I thought this would be a great combination. I was with two friends, both of which had seen it before, and they had told me it was a "great" movie. Because it was originally made-for-tv, it was broken into two part and ended up being over three hours total. The first half was "passable," mainly because it stars children and this makes you more willing to accept fantasy as commonplace, especially when the plot consists of a group of children trying to take down a murderous magic clown. However, by the time the second part begins and the characters return as adults 30 years later to finish off the same clown, it quickly become ridiculous. Overall and with few exceptions, the acting was terrible (as in the child actors put each of the adults to shame). Most of the second part seemed to be a blindingly-distracting competition between Dennis Christopher and Harry Anderson for the title of "worst actor" (with Dennis Chrispoher consistently reclaiming it). Add to that a terrible script and a horrible director and you've got the gist of It (pun intended). There is also an inane amount of group hugs and childhood storytelling. To boot, just about every time that they try to come up with a plan, Harry Anderson's character seems to have an anxiety attack and threaten to take the next flight home. In retrospect, this movie is highly enjoyable for the sake of unintended humor but, fails miserably as a horror film.

Just to toss some B-movies out there, here's my list of the three worst that I've ever seen: 1. Robot Monster (1953) 2. Plan 9 from outer space (1959) 3. Manos: The Hands of Fate (1966) I won't even bother reviewing these. They are each so comically horrendous that they beyond words. I highly recommend that anyone who wants a heavy dose of unintentional humor watch any of these... Has anyone already seen any of them?

I think Seinfeld had an episode about George and Jerry going to see Plan 9 From Outer Space.

My aunt was babysitting me and made me watch it. We laughed and laughed at the the low production value. ("Flying Saucers" were literally hubcaps.) - and this was in the 1970's!

I've watched a few of them over the years with the little silhouetted puppets and their corny comments during the movie. I noticed that the name changed from MST 2000 to MST 3000 in the 90's...probably because of the coming millenium change. Did you know that the puppets were made of things like a bowling pin a baseball facemask and a bubble gum machine?

Yeah, I believe that CROWWW had the bubble-gum head. He was also my favorite character -- as his quips were the most sarcastic.
