Paul's 2002 tour "rider" (list of demands)
-
"Riders" are documents that detail what an artist must have at the venue that they are appearing at. For example, Sharon Osborne had a demand that Ozzy have a container of all brown M&M's backstage, because if the venue didn't pay attention to this detail, she knew that they'd most likely screwed up a lot of the stage set-up, etc. Paul's 2002 rider (all 12 pages of it) is quite interesting, and on www.thesmokinggun.com. Thankfully he now allows cameras!

Funny how all these old articles start popping up as if they are new. oh & didn't he & Nancy stay at a cowboy place on their RT 66 trip? Now I would imagine there had to be a LOT OF LEATHER in that place.
-
I hate reading stuff like that...big deal if something isn't quite perfect!! Get your head outta yer arse Paul!!

that was extremely interesting!!! Thanks for the read Jen I'm surprised how demanding it all is though! We all know how late Paul is...he probably spends about 2 hours in the backstage area...is it THAT vital?...

Agreed. Bloody hell, it the Beatles days, they'd be lucky to get four chairs, a heater and egg and chips! What a tosser.

If we were in that position, what would be some of your requirements - lol. Outside of Grey Goose Vodka don't think I would worry about anything else - LOL

And if it was the Beatles days there would be cheap lousy speakers that insured no one could hear the music. But it isn't the Beatles days. The concert scene has changed since 1964, and if these detailed riders had been standard back then -- as they are standard for every performer now -- the Beatles would have have had one, too. One of the reasons they stopped touring was because of the lousy conditions. And it seems really unnecessary to indulge in name-calling to make your point.

oh no...

I believe that back in the Beatles days..the boys got what they wanted..at least in the latter days anyway. Even if it wasn't in writing..?

I don't know why this has suddenly re-appeared. At the Denver concert that year, the venue did have leather couches in Paul's dressing room and he through a hissy fit and wasn't going to play unless they brought in different couches. They did. I was doing the venue's VIP package for something like $400 that year and we were over an hour late getting inside because of this. That was the explanation we were given for making us wait. Our package did not include the sound check, but because we got in so late, we were able to hear the sound check, just not see it.

It's set up like a hotel suite for family members, places for the press, eating, visitors, etc. He isn't the only one who uses it and it's being used all day long or more if multiple shows.
